TLDR: Fight mutant space nazis in a mech suit on an ice planet.
Premise: The Protectorate world of Nihil Ultra is under attack by an invasion fleet of eugenicists from the Harmony. Nihil Ultra is frigidly cold and only capable of supporting life in the geothermal vents located at the bottom of sheltered canyons. Despite this, the world is of great economic significance to the Protectorate due to the frequent meteor showers that bombard the surface. Mobile mining outfits called "Starcatchers" race to extract precious metals from the meteors before they are swallowed by the ice and snow.
The Harmony invasion fleet was a complete surprise and only through sacrificing most of the planetary navy was Nihil Ultra able to prepare for the invasion. The walls of the canyon cities are heavily fortified, and additionally protected by anti-orbital batteries located in the icy wastes. Neutralizing these batteries is an obvious first step for the invaders and most of the artillery outposts are only lightly garrisoned. That's where you come in. Out in the freezing wastes, it's often more practical to heat and power a handful of mech suits than an entire platoon of rangers. Your team will be deployed in areas of greatest need to prevent strategic locations from falling to the enemy. Support is limited, and the ice storms themselves might pose as big a danger as the invaders.
The Game Itself: The core rules of Stars Without Number are free, but the mech rules are only available in the paid version. I can supply these rules to anyone who wants to play. They're quite simple and not significantly different from the starship rules in the free version.
Looking for 3 or more players who are interested in a specifically focused campaign. Gameplay will obviously slightly slanted towards combat and doing dope stuff in your mech suits, but there will be social RP at times as well. The story I have in mind is short (by PBP standards anyway), and focuses solely on the battle for Nihil Ultra.
The setting itself is something I've had in my back pocket for years. First created as a backdrop for my tau to fight my friend's space marines in 40k, morphed into a deathwatch mission, and now SWN because mech suits are cool.
Inspiration is drawn in part from the game Into the Breach, Tau battlesuits, the Battle of Hoth (particularly that whole 'defend the ion cannon' bit), and the Lego "Ice Planet 2002" line of products from the 90s.
Features -Theater of the mind, mech-based combat in dynamic environments that encourage creativity and stunts. -Start off in small, suit-class mechs (~10' tall) with opportunities to upgrade the mechs or move to bigger varieties, up to 40ft tall behemoths. -The mech rules include multiple hull types for different classes including combat hulls, specialist hulls, and psionic hulls. -Custom backgrounds by moi suitable for mech pilots including Rangers, Starcatchers, Protectorate Commandos, barbaric off-world reinforcements, and others. -Shoot a lot of mutant space nazis, and isn't that really what its all about?

They have access to certain mech fittings that amplify a wearer's existing psychic powers and a few types of powerful weapons. Its the classic "Warrior, Thief, Mage" thing in scifi mech format.

That tl;dr really spoke to me! I do not know SWN and will have to take some time to familiarize myself with the system. How soon are you looking to get started?

The mech rules are only in the full (paid) version, but there’s a free version that has all the basic rules. I can share the mech rules if needed though.
