Skin: Pale Hair: Buzzed down to stubble Eyes: Cauterized shut//Known to glow white-blue Notable Marks: none. Outfit: When aboard the Anatem Imperabit Mundus, Alexium dresses appropriately for their station. The child wears silk robes of vibrant colors and patterns, often mirroring celestial bodies or natural life (fauna/flora). An ornate silk sash is wrapped around its head, covering ruined physical eyes. Of course, this does nothing to hinder its vision. In fact, its senses are more highly developed than nearly everyone else on the ship. Whenever the crew must make a planetary expedition, Alexium dons a suit of flak armor meant for children drafted into the Imperial Guard or PDF in times of dire need. It even has a helmet to go with it, though it wears it only on the rarest of occasion. Front line combat is never where Alexium intends to be. Its skills are better utilized elsewhere. Even with this ornate style of dress, the Mundus' Astropath Transcendent is easily forgettable. Most pass by without ever noticing Alexium was there in the first place. The child uses this to its advantage, often hiding in plain sight before the enemies of House Filianatus ever feel its probing into the deepest recesses of their minds. Personality: Nature: Steadfast and Stubborn; As averse to direct combat as the child is, Alexium will hold the line for those who have its loyalty. It has learned through hard experience that loyalty is worth more than all the golden thrones in the Imperium. Once earned, the child will see it is not broken. Demeanor: Manipulator & Plotter; Alexium works to understand what makes people and xenos alike tick and to use that information for the benefit of itself and the Filianatus family. Alexium is not necessarily a liar, more of a puppet master and unseen driving force. Its plans are detailed and involved, always with contingencies for contingencies. The child gets frustrated when plans go awry, but rarely shows it because its comrades-in-arms are always more than ready to unleash devastation at the drop of a hat. It is for this reason that Alexium has learned to cherish and be loyal to the friends and allies it has gathered. Loyalty is a rare resource in the void. Every mistake is a lesson to be learned. Every failure, a future success. Background: Born into the Ultralimbus Battlefleet, Alexium's name was the only noble part about them. Their parents, knowing the chances of rising through the ranks of ratings was slim, opted to give them a high-born name. It was the one thing they could control. Their early years were extremely difficult; the lower decks of the frigate Devastation's Eyes were unhealthy to say the least. The air was poor. The food was scarce. The child had to fight for, and take, nearly everything to survive. But the child also realized it could get people to do things - things they didn't necessarily want to do. It only took a thought or two, perhaps some concentration, but with enough focus, the child found that it could make others succumb to it. Like it. Give it what it wanted. This allowed it to thrive. In the child's 12th year, the Black Ships came. 18 years later it returned, though its features had not matured at all, save for the fact that Alexium's eyes had been completely burned out. It was as though Alexium had not aged a day, but the child's abilities were increased exponentially. Now an Astropath serving in the fleet, Alexium quickly rose to fame and earned a reputation for loyalty, devotion to duty, and professionalism under extreme duress. It was this reputation, and perhaps more than a little influencing, that saw Alexium seconded to the Rogue Trader. Links to Other PCs (Roderick)But before the Rogue Trader took notice, Alexium served aboard the frigate Sword Breaker under Captain Xandrus Crassus. A routine scouting mission to the Viridaurum sub-sector saw them intercepting an unknown vessel attempting to exit the sector. Hails and calls to identify were ignored and as Captain Xandrus had the Master of Ordnance prepare to fire, a brutal psychic storm enveloped the bridge. Crew, fiercely loyal to Captain Xandrus began turning on one another - killing each other before killing themselves. Alexium immediately jumped into action, protecting itself and Roderick MacCoinneach. The Void Master and Alexium did not know one another well, but Alexium knew Roderick was one of the few people aboard the bridge who could control the situation. The child kept an air of calm even as it rolled forward and took Roderick's knees out from under him to avoid a close range pistol shot. Eventually the two made it to the helm and Roderick was able to navigate them out of the reach of the psychic onslaught. The more distance they put between themselves and the rogue psykers, the easier it was for Alexium to begin calming the minds of those around them. The Captain was dead. So too were many others, but the ship was saved. Roderick approached and stretched out his hand, saying something negative about "witches." He was right of course - that is exactly what the other ship had been chock full of. That was their official meeting, and they have relied on one another ever since. So too, ever since that day Alexium has a burning desire to hunt down and destroy that frigate and see every psyker aboard contained within a black ship. - Rolls for GM Reference/Posterity:

| I have filled in some more, but two of the starting options are from Into the Storm and require GM approval since we were instructed not to spend XP yet.
Currently, green represents unresolved items.

| - Character Questions: 1 - 25:
1. The blood or the precedence: The patriarch Parvus Filianatis has been consumed by two things: finding those of Filianatis blood who are not cursed, and finding those allies with the skills to help them. Are you one of the last of the Blood, from branched family, bastard couplings or rare occurrence who have the innate power that comes with it? Or are you one of Precedence, those individuals of rare and exotic skill that no-one can deny? - Alexium is in the latter group; while not of Filianatis blood, its skills as an Astropath go above and beyond the majority of those of a similar category. The child's unassuming looks mixed with innate abilities to manipulate, learn and transmit information, and keep the ship in contact with the wider Imperium, make Alexium an invaluable asset to the Rogue Trader and Filianatis family.
2. The path: All men people walk a path to bring glory to humanity; all men people walk a path to find the light of the emperor. What path do you tread? (In-game “character class”) - Alexium walks both paths. It quite literally is the Emperor's light in the darkness of uncharted space. Alexium, along with their Navigator, stymies the eddies and tides of the Warp to bring the glory of Emperor to humanity, to keep humanity connected. Though, personally the child follows a different path - to understand the reasons why the Calisota Sector's output of psykers is so low compared to the rest of the galaxy. If the Warp truly could be controlled, if Calisota held the secrets, humanity could dominate the stars once again as they did before...
3. The cradle: What type of world where you raised on? How does it mold its people? (As homeworld; please include a description of the world and choose the subsector the world is found) - Alexium is from the Ultralimbus Sub-Sector of the Calisota Sector, born into the Ultralimbus Ultima Battlefleet. While it has spent some time on the surface of planets, the void is home. It was a hard life and discipline came early, but so too did Alexium's powers manifest. It was on its 12th birthday when the Black Ships came and took it to Terra. Upon return some 18 standard years later, the child had not aged a day - nor has it since. Alexium has since learned that this was the greatest gift the Emperor had bestowed .
4. The birthright: From birth to death, most Imperial citizens follow an immovable path towards their fate. However, some rare few are able to rise beyond their beginnings, however humble. What state have you risen from? What wretched or vaunted places did you tread as a child? There are many who would think of the Battlefleet as an unshakable entity and whose ships are composed of unbreakable, disciplined masses of professional soldiers. And in many ways, they are right. However, despite regulations, children are born into the fleets regularly. Sometimes they are lucky and given rank and nobility upon birth. Most of the time, they are not. Alexium was not gifted and had to scrape by for anything and everything. It wasn't until the black ships came that the child learned how easy things had been. Its position changed dramatically after the tribulations of Astropathic creations, but the echoes of that former life never fully faded.
5. The lure of the void: It is a continuing, strange miracle of human nature that from the downtrodden, planet-bound masses arise adventurous, ambitious, and sometimes twisted or rebellious souls who seek more, or have it thrust upon them by uncaring fate. It is these men and women who through endeavor, fortune, or the turning of great events strike off from their home world and set foot on a greater stage. What brought you to this stage? - Alexium knows the importance of Astropaths in the fleet, but there are plenty to fulfill those roles. The child's destiny is greater. The child's destiny is to explore the grey area between Imperial law and humanity's further expansion. The Filianatus family has allowed it to do that. It would never trade this life for its former. The choir of the Emperor's voice must be heard farther and farther into the galaxy. Yet there is more. The Lure of the Enemy - rogue psykers - pushes Alexium to travel farther, faster, and more adamantly than those who have come before. The child knows that untested vessels can cause the collapse of entire systems. It is their instability that the Warp feeds upon, and Alexium has vowed to hunt them down and see them forced onto the Black Ships or destroyed. For their are only two options for his kind: spreading the light of the Emperor or feeding His essence on the Throne.
6. Trials and travails: Individuals such as yourself are not simply the product of their background and training, but also of those experiences they have endured, experiences that have forged them into what they are where others around them were broken and destroyed. What tried to break you that you overcame? What has truly challenged you? - Dark Voyage: Breaking into the sub-sector wasn't a problem. Roderick had plotted the course - another scouting mission - but this time they were supposed to bring back proof of heretical wrongdoing or dark technologies. The Jolanese Kingdom had been a largely ignored area of non-Imperial space given the fact that they were largely chaos free, untainted, and acted as an enormous defensive buffer for Imperial forces as the two entities were not actively at war. But the Inquisition and other elements were always looking for an excuse to move in. Perhaps not for an all out war, but any pretense to look into the Jolanese a bit further was favored. At least, that's what Alexium reckoned.
The scouting mission almost immediately went south as soon as it began. The Jolanese were no slouches when it came to space-faring, and their technology was rumored to be of ancient origins. Alexium was able to psychically negotiate a meeting of captains - a parley. Honor guards from both vessels met aboard the Jolanese ship. Of course, Alexium and Roderick were both present. While Roderick explained that their ship was on a planetary survey mission that veered off course during Warp transit, Alexium blocked any psychic prying into his mind. And there was plenty. It was amazing. The Jolanese knew that their efforts were being stifled and rather than attack, they approached carefully. An understanding was met, one that Alexium has not fully comprehended the lengths and ramifications of yet. The Astropath was gifted with the Jolanese Mandala - a series of nearly invisible Jolanese patterns set at "spiritually important locations on the divine human form." Amazingly, they wanted nothing in return - save for further understanding between both cultures. Perhaps they truly were impressed with Alexium and saw an opportunity for continued peace in the region, including trading ventures and eventual mutual defense. Or perhaps they were playing a very carefully crafted political game, the long term effects of which Alexium has not seen come to fruition. Whatever it may be, the child - and Roderick - are ready.
7. Motivation: Whether motivated by burning ambition, greed, or vengeance, there is always a compelling reason that someone leaves his home world behind and ventures forth into the unknown. What drives you? What pushes you forward through every day? - Vengeance: Rogue Psykers are a scourge on the Imperium. They willingly and unwillingly invite the Warp into them leaving uncountable dead in their wake. They also happen to be those responsible for nearly killing Alexium and Roderick on the child's first mission after his return from Terra. Unlucky for them, Alexium never forgets wrongs done against it. The child looks forward to the satisfaction it will gain from the destruction of the psykers aboard that rogue ship.
8. How you came to walk: What led to the path you now walk? What compelled you to the skillset that now brings you glory? Fate. Alexium has visited the Emperor, seen the Holiest throne in all of humanity, been tested by the Emperor and found worthy. The child does not take this for granted. While its eyes may have burned out of skull in the process, they still glow with a new power - the truth of the Emperor. As an Astropath, Alexium has excelled at manipulating the Rogue Traders' enemies.
9. The even more specific path: For each career, there are a number of paths they may cross. What organisations or groups have you worked for in the past? (A few examples in the table; though if you think of any I haven't mentioned, do not hesitate to put it in your sheet) - Alexium was seconded back to the Ultralimbus Battlefleet to become one of many astropaths in the fleet; however, the child quickly shone brighter than the rest, rising through the ranks and gaining the favor of the Rogue Trader.
10. Religious leanings: The imperium is a place of strict religious order. Most are raised from birth to worship the emperor; though some such as the astartes honor him as a great man. How religious are you? Are you part of any specific cults? Are you more puritanical in your worship, or do you hold more peculiar beliefs? Do you see the emperor as a deity of a person of great honor? - Alexium reveres the Emperor as the only being worthy of worship in the cosmos without feeling the need to follow any dogmatic particular sets of belief regarding Him. The Emperor is the light in the warp, and Alexium exists only because of His mercy. But the child has no particular love or need of the Ecclesiarchy. While it tolerates them and their purpose, it does not bend and bow to their will. They cannot fully fathom the Emperor's true greatness, and their reduction of him to a mere figure to be feared or loved is short sighted.
11. What is your greatest strength and weakness? Strengths are what others see as respectable or admirable in your, while weaknesses are what you would struggle to hide from others, lest they look down upon your failures. What do you regard as his strengths and weaknesses, and how does this differ from your actual abilities? - Alexium's greatest strength strength is an unbending loyalty to those who have been allowed into the child's inner circle. Alexium's greatest weakness is the need to control situations/people/life, as though fate and destiny were things to be manipulated and molded. While the child's abilities in manipulating people and situations is strong, it is not so strong that all situations can be controlled. The desire to do just that will end up biting Alexium in its ass.
12. How would others describe your appearance? - Androgynous and young. It is impossible to tell whether Alexium is a boy or a girl. Just by looking, the child appears no older than 12. If it had eyes, perhaps they would belie the fact that it is actually closer to 30. A buzzed head and skinny body, covered eyes, and flowing robes, all rob any onlooker of a good idea of what Alexium actually is - that is if they even get a good look or care to notice in the first place (Unremarkable talent)
13. Who is the person your character trusts the most in the world? We all have friends and allies. How did you meet them? What position do they have in society? - Currently, Alexium has no one who truly fills this void. However, because of their shared experiences so far, the Void Master Roderick is becoming a very close ally. The child has a handful of contacts in the Jalonese Kingdom that can be understood as "allies"; though in reality they are more trading partners. Alexium is very interested in continuing on in good relations with these few in the hopes of creating a more substantial alliance for the Filianatus family.
14. What do you think of the political games that infest imperial noble families? - These are situations to take advantage of for the betterment of the dynasty and the benefit of Alexium. They are essential games that allow the strong to thrive.
15. Are you married? Do you have any children, and if so, how many? If from a high class, are you betrothed? - No.
16. Are you more loyal to yourself, your allies, or to the imperium? Many people are quite selfish, putting their own needs and desires before everyone elses. Some have strong loyalty to their allies, and those who are part of the same organisations as them, or even to the gods they follow. Many are loyal to the “ideal” of the imperium as a beacon of civilization that must be kept lit . Only the loyal are trusted, so who have you given this loyalty? - Alexium is most loyal to themselves if being completely honest; however, allies hold a very close second - if not equal footing - as they are so few and far between. Loyalty to each, in Alexium's mind, is loyalty to the Imperium as the child would broker no blatantly heretical allies. The Emperor gave Alexium its gifts and so it returns the loyalty in its actions.
17. How would your parents and family describe you? Do you have a proper relationship with your parents or are you estranged? Was your upbringing a source of joy or dismay for your parents? Are they still alive, or were they taken from you at a younger age? - Alexium does not know the fate of its parents. When the child was returned to the Battlefleet, it was not returned to the frigate of its birth; as such, its parents may very well be dead or alive. Ironically, they would have no trouble recognizing Alexium, as the child looks exactly as it did the day it was taken by the Black Ships.
18. How do interact with your social/hierarchical superiors? How about your inferiors? Cultural expections vary wildly. Most in the imperium tend to be deferential to their superiors. Those of power can vary wildly however, with many respecting only the competent and treating the others with disdain. Treatment of inferiors (who can do little to oppose you) varies quite a lot depending on your personality. How do you treat your inferiors & superiors? - Superiors are deferred to and inferiors led or commanded. This is the way of the Imperium and the Astropathic choir. Of course, an abuse up or down the chain of command can have serious, negative ramifications. Alexium is smart enough to know this and not cross the line in either direction. A good line of communication is worth ten firing squads.
19. Who opposes you most? Who is your greatest foe? As power comes to you, so come those who wish you harm. - Currently, this extends to the rogue psykers Alexium actively hunts. Though, the child has yet to see any among the ship openly wish its downfall or harm. There was one from the past - an inquisitor determined to do everything in his power to see the child fail before communion with the Emperor. Inquisitor Alabam. Though Alexium defied the odds and survived the ordeals, it never saw the Inquisitor again. A part of it wonders if the Inquisitor still thinks of it - hoping it dead. Perhaps one day they would find out.
20. What does your character think of the power of the warp? Despite the critical need of Navigators & Astropaths to keep the Imperium running, most react to these powers with fear and disdain. Some of the more educated (and possibly heretical) sees it as the only way to keep the imperium safe. Most simply avoid them, unsure about their ability to properly cope. - The Warp is at once the greatest boon and largest threat to the Imperium of Man. It is the job of the Navigators and Astropaths to make sense out of the mayhem. Alexium is blessed to be one of the chosen few to temper that madness for those on the fringe.
21. What does your character think of xenos? As one who goes beyond the borders of the imperium, you will be faced with xenos. A great many believe that death is the only just fate for the alien. Others wish to steal their secrets & power, practicing the cold trade. Some believe an equilibrium can be reached, avoiding conflict with those willing to do so, and crushing those who are a clear and present danger. - Alexium does not stand by the adage that "the only good xenos is a dead xenos." There is so much to learn from other civilizations both past and present, and genocide is a waste of resources to gain that knowledge as far as Alexium is concerned. This is one reason the child is so open and ready to deal and trade with the Jalonese Kingdom. There are others like it that don't exist only to see the Imperium brought to ruin. With the current state of constant war in much of the galaxy, open talks with these friendly xenos empires is almost a necessary requirement for success.
22. What does your character think of heretics? Heretics have haunted the imperium since the fall of Horus. Some say they may yet be redeemed; but most believe that cleansing fire is too good for them. - Where Alexium is forgiving with regards to xenos, it is damning for heretics. Those who willingly give their life and free will to the chaos gods and the Warp have sealed their fate. While there is a logic to brokering with certain heretics for immediate gains, their crimes cannot be forgiven and never can they be forgotten. Those who follow the path of chaos deserve the justice of the Emperor.
23. How does your character react to archeotech? In the halo zone, far from the chaos of the eye of terror, many of humanity’s greatest technological works lie. Some of those are so far beyond mortal knowledge that they seem like magic. When faced with such wonders, what guides you: fear, fascination… or something darker? - Almost overwhelming fascination. Alexium knows that ancient humanity produced technology that could tip the scales in dealing with the forces of chaos, yet the child also knows it must be regarded with caution. The Jolanese Mandala wards within him are proof of the lengths he is willing to go to experiment with non-tainted tech. Alexium will almost certain seek to steer the crew in the direction of such artifacts if there are substantial leads to them.
24. Do you believe the patriarch and his belief in a curse? While Parvus is convinced that the family is cursed, it is easy to understand how some may believe him mad. Yet doom has consistently followed the Filianatis dynasty for the last two centuries. Do you believe it mere coincidence? Conspiracy? Or is something greater haunting the bloodline? - Alexium doesn't believe in coincidence. Curses are real - the psyker mutation proof of that, but obviously curses can be tempered and overcome. The child itself is proof of this. Conspiracy is the more likely answer, and there is no need to rule out conspiracy and curse being two sides of the same coin. Whatever the case, Alexium is dedicated to seeing the family overcome this "curse" and be restored to the greatness its history professes.
25. A train races down a track, with a fork coming up. On one side, a Xenos; on the other, a Heretic. In front of you lies a lever that will direct the train to one or the other, and you are too distant to alter the situation to kill both. Which do you kill? - The heretic. Every. Single. Time.
- Character Questions: 26 - 45:
26. The light of civilization: what does your character think of the imperium’s policies? The imperium has a long history of civilizing primitive tribes, and seeing it as their responsibility to bring law to all humanity. Do you think this is good? Are you a person who supports this goal? Opposes it? Are you a zealot supporting the emperor’s power? - Alexium sees the benefit of the Imperium's annexation of otherwise independent societies because it inherently means the suppression and training of nascent psykers. In this aspect, it is not only good but necessary to control the power of the Warp. However, if independent civilizations already have factors and safeguards in place to do this, Alexium does not see the necessity of Imperial over reach. In this aspect, the child is very much on board with the Rogue Trader's mission of benefiting from these civilizations without destroying or overrunning them. This has greatly influenced the child's experiences and interactions with the Jolanese Kingdom.
27. Do you have any prejudices? Everyone has some prejudices. Scholars look down on the ignorant, the rich look down on the poor, the righteous looks down on the heretic, and the hardworking humble folk look down on the lazy wealthy. What prejudices have you inherited from your background? What prejudices have come from your life experience? - Alexium looks down on uncontrolled psykers. The child also looks down on the arrogant and unworthy - either unworthy of their titles, inheritance, or position. It despises those who claim ultimate knowledge, power, or truth, sticking to an ethos of the more one knows, the more they know nothing at all.
28. Do you have any recurring mannerisms? Many have odd tics, strange habits and preferences. Some only eat plants, some wear almost no clothing, some run everywhere. What are your habits? - At times still a child at heart, Alexium enjoys playing pranks. In addition, it is a staunch vegetarian as it sees consuming the flesh of another an affront to that being's - and its own - essence. True health of heart and mind comes from a careful balance, and Alexium takes nutrition very seriously.
29. Who has taught you or tutored you? Do you have a mentor or teacher?
30. How does your character consider the Cult of Prosperity?
31. How educated are you? Few people are highly educated in the imperium. But due to your power, you may have had the chance. Have you sought to learn? Is your learning more intuitive and experience-based, or have you learned from the past experience of others?
32. What is your character’s secret, and what will happen if it is discovered?
33. What does your character do to relax?
34. If you were given a single throne, how would they spend it?
35. What are the names of your parents and siblings, and what do they do?
36. What is your most sacred possession?
37. Who is your characters closest friend?
38. What does your character love, fear, hate?
39. Who is your character’s ideal mate?
40. What advice would you give your character?
41. Who would be your ultimate enemy?
42. How do you feel about plants & nature?
43. What is your most treasured possession?
44. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
45. What would you do to kill time?

| Curious, any chance of amending "Soul-Bound to the Emperor (+20 WP to resist possession, vs Daemons; subtract 1d10 from Perils of the Warp)" to subtracting either one step OR 1d10+WP Bonus from Perils?
To me, it seems like the willpower of the PC would come into play on a roll like this.
Working on the final set of questions now!

Working on the final set of questions now! Not sure I understand the question. The perils stuff is entirely random anyways; no going around it. It chaos, and I dont think WP should change that. And you dont substract. You roll 1d100, then a separate 1d10. You can then substitute one of the integers with the result of the 1d10. Ex: You get perils, you roll 1d100, get 85; as an astropath, you roll an extra 1d10, get 2. You can replace the 8, getting 25, so you only go catatonic (25) rather than cause mass possession (85). I think it fits well with the inherent chaos of warp-use.
