The Traveler’s best trick is silenceS: Tracing a
treble clef with fingers parted and ending with a flick of the wrist to draw the negative space of a stave
M: A copper wire that is often integrated into various outfits and hairstyles.
History: Despite having been taken in by the orphanage that would be their home for the latter part of their childhood, Izar would often be drawn back to the freedom of the streets. Once there, they would miss being with the few children with whom they had become thick as thieves. What was first a way to stay connected when the walls of the orphanage were overwhelming, soon became a favored means of communication for all kinds of mischief.
Prestidigitation: VS
V:
A better spice than hungerS: Using both hands to simulate a
three-card monteHistory: Used most often to clean food spills off of documents or clothing, this cantrip was the first one that Izar had learned. The moment that she had learned what Prestidigitation could do, she became obsessed by it. "Hunger is the best spice" was oft repeated to waifish urchins who deigned to want more than the merely digestible and this particular waifish urchin was determined to never lend truth to those words again.
Vicious mockery: V
V: Not specific words - this is the first cantrip that she was instructed on more formally. Her instructor bade her focus on themes and intonation rather than the choice of words for the longest time, she opened with
“Listen here you little shit”. History: Izar was never interested in learning this cantrip. They were more interested in reading than in writing, and coming up with good insults is such a chore. What eventually convinced them was when an exasperated instructor pointed out that when all else fails, they should have at least one spell that could help keep them safe... and yes,
if you were truly at a loss for ideas, I suppose you could just mimic someone's words and voice.
Dissonant whispers: V
V:
I wouldn't say this to just anyone; you're special History: This was a natural progression from Vicious Mockery. Despite there being a hard limit to how often it can be cast, Izar prefers Dissonant Whispers, not because it is more powerful, but because there is no need to be continuously coming up with clever insults
It's so much less work! Though sometimes it is far more cathartic to use injurious invectives.
Heat metal: VSM
V:
Dancing in the rain of descending ashS: Instrument rapidly played, accompanied by a drawn out, audible breath, reminiscent of bellows
M: Piece of iron and a flame
History: Like with Faerie fire, Izar came to view and understand Heat metal as an extension of Prestidigitation. Unlike Faerie fire, they learned the spell out of fear for their life. While they never intended to have to hold their own in combat alone, the fact was that there would be times when words would not suffice (to their great chagrin, most undead cannot be reasoned with) and no one would be coming to their aid.
Healing words: V
V:
GET UP! If you can't work, they won't let you eatHistory: Between their weak knowledge of medicine and limited access to any form of medical care, Izar had intuited this spell in a moment of desperation. At College, most other bards cast uptempo healing spells, as vivacious as the life force that they were restoring. This came as a shock to Izar, for whom it began as a ragged, angry sound, before ending in a whispered lament.
