Talents:
-
Weapons Training (Las, Low-Tech) (
Background)
-
Keen Intuition (
Role): The Acolyte has trained extensively to notice objects that seem out of place or hidden. This can bring the smallest irregularity to prominence, revealing the heresy festering beneath the surface. After failing an Awareness skill test, the character can re-roll the test with a –10 modifier.
-
Cover-up: Even the slightest whisper of the Inquisition’s presence can be enough to scatter suspected heretics and drive cults into hiding. To prevent the growth and spread of rumours, Acolytes use combinations of well-placed bribes, dire threats, and other means to keep their activities as secretive as possible. At the GM’s discretion, the character can reduce his Influence to increase his group’s Subtlety. For every point of Influence lost in this way, the Acolyte increases his warband’s Subtlety by 1d5.
-
Jaded: The Acolyte’s wide travels have shown him both wonders and horrors beyond the ken of most. The galaxy has thrown its worst at him and he has yet to flinch. Mundane events, from death’s horrific visage to xenos abominations, do not force him to gain Insanity points or make Fear tests. Daemons, Warp manifestations, and other unnatural effects still affect him normally.
-
Warp Sense: The Acolyte’s senses have evolved to perceive the Warp in parallel with the physical world. The character can use the Psyniscience Skill as a Free Action instead of as a Half Action. He can also passively detect psychic effects and entities without the need to actively seek them out. Whenever the character could detect such a Warp signature or a creature, the GM can allow him to make a Psyniscience skill test to detect it, in the same way he could use Awareness to spot an ambush without knowing it is there.
Traits:
- Breeding Counts (
Homeworld): Any time a highborn character would reduce his Influence, he reduces it by 1 less (to a minimum reduction of 1).
- The Constant Threat (
Background): When the character or an ally within 10 metres triggers a roll on Table 6–2: Psychic Phenomenon (see page 196), the Adeptus Astra Telepathica character can increase or decrease the result by amount equal to his Willpower bonus.
- Tested on Terra (
Background): If the character takes the Psyker elite advance during character creation, he also gains the Sanctioned trait.
- Sanctioned (
Background): If a Sanctioned character gains the Psyker elite advance, he does not gain the Corruption normally inflicted with that advance and starts at psy rating of 2 instead of 1.
- Nothing Escapes My Sight (
Role): In addition to the normal uses of Fate points, a Seeker character may spend a Fate point to automatically succeed at an Awareness or Inquiry skill test with a number of degrees of success equal to his Perception bonus.
- Psyker (
Elite Advance): This trait has no benefits on its own, it allows characters to purchase the Psyniscience skill and psychic powers.

Diviniation
- Warp Perception:
Action: Half Action
Focus Power: Challenging (+0) Psyniscience test
Range: Self
Sustained: Half Action
Subtype: Concentration
Effect: The psyker gains the Unnatural Senses (X) trait, where the X value is equal to the psy rating multiplied by 10.
- Prescience:
Action: Half Action
Focus Power: Challenging (+0) Psyniscience test
Range: 3 metres x psy rating radius
Sustained: Half Action
Subtype: Concentration
Effect: For the duration of this power, the psyker and a number of allies equal to his psy rating within range, gain a bonus to their Weapon Skill and Ballistic Skill tests equal to twice the psyker’s psy rating. Allies affected by this power lose its benefit as soon as they move out of range.
Telekinesis
- Telekinetic Control:
Action: Half Action
Focus Power: Routine (+20) Willpower test
Range: 10 metres x psy rating
Sustained: Half Action
Subtype: Concentration
Effect: The psyker chooses an object in range and line of sight with a weight no greater than 2 x PR kilograms. At the beginning of each of his turns, he can move the object in any direction up to a number of metres equal to twice his psy rating. If the object ever leaves the range of the power, the power ends.
- Assail:
Action: Half Action
Focus Power: Ordinary (+10) Willpower test
Range: 20 metres x psy rating
Sustained: No
Subtype: Attack, Concentration
Effect: If the psyker scores at least three degrees of success on the Focus Power test for this attack, the target is also thrown 1d5 metres away and knocked Prone. Certain especially large targets such as battle tanks, Greater Daemons, and Titans are immune to this effect at the Game Master’s discretion.

Telepathy
- Telepathic Link:
Action: Half Action
Focus Power: Difficult (–10) Opposed Willpower test
Range: 20 metres x psy rating
Sustained: No
Subtype: Concentration
Effect: The psyker chooses a person in range and line of sight who opposes this power with a Willpower test. If the target fails, the psyker can either read the person’s thoughts or send him a brief mental message.
- Thought Reading: The psyker reads the target’s thoughts, with the GM determining the nature of the information gained. The more degrees of success scored on the Focus Power test, the more information is gained overall. The higher the PR of the power, the more secretive the information gained.
- Thought Sending: The psyker causes a message to appear in the target’s mind as if he has just heard it spoken aloud. The message can be no longer than 5 x PR seconds long. If the target of this power is aware of what the psyker is trying to do, he can voluntarily fail the opposed Willpower test, counting as having rolled a 100.
- Erasure:
Action: Full Action
Focus Power: Challenging (+0) Opposed Willpower test
Range: 5 metres x psy rating
Sustained: No
Subtype: Concentration
Effect: The psyker chooses a single foe in range and line of sight who opposes this power with a Willpower test. If he fails, the psyker removes a memory of a recent event from the target’s mind. The psyker can only remove an amount of time from the target’s memory up to 10 x PR minutes, and the event removed cannot have occurred more than PR hours prior to the use of this power. The enemy is left with a gap in his memory, with no recollection of what occurred during that time.
- Dominate:
Action: Full Action
Focus Power: Challenging (+0) Opposed Willpower test
Range: 5 metres x psy rating
Sustained: No
Subtype: Concentration
Effect: The psyker nominates a number targets in range and line of sight up to half his psy rating (rounded up) who oppose this power with a Willpower test. Each target that fails to resist the power must follow a simple command given by the psyker. Some example orders include “Flee,” “Fall,” or “Attack your friend.” If the command is a potentially suicidal act, each target receives a +20 to its Willpower test to Oppose the power. In all cases, the command must be achievable in a single round.

Ordo/Faction/Allegiance: Adeptus Astra Telepathica
Appearance:
Body Type: Svelte
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 142 lbs.
Skin: Tan
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Notable Marks: Traditional face tattoos of her home world denoting her rank.
Outfit: Philomena likes to dress well, favoring fine dress, cloaks, and jewelry. She remembers the luxury of her youth fondly and seeks to present as someone of her former station. The fact that she often serves as her master's envoy means she looking proper is important to her functions. If she must go on a mission which requires it, she will reluctantly dress more practically, but even when she does, she makes sure the clothing is tailored.
Personality: Philomena is polite, friendly and approachable. Her manners betray her upbringing. She is curious and will readily engage people in idle conversation, subtly prodding them for useful information and ingratiating herself. She prefers praises and deals over threats. She prefers to avoid direct confrontations, opting to help her allies or create opportunities for them using her powers rather than fight herself.
Background: Philomena was born on the Civilized World of Hallapra. Scion of the House of Beauparlant, she grew up on the Innorth mountains, where the elites of Hallapra built their sprawling estates. It was a beautiful garden, that hid innumerable predators. Competition between the ruling families was fierce and Philomena had to learn from a young age in betrayal and sabotage. In the Conscencis Schola, Philomena proved to be quite adept at avoiding her rivals' ploys and at executing up her own. The reason for her excellence became clear in her pre-teen years, when Hallapra was visited by a Black ship and she tested positive for the psyker mutation.
Travelling to Terra was a harrowing experience on the young girl. Though the manners she was taught proved to be useless, the guile, charm and resilience did not. She made allies for protection and clung to the knowledge of her station to keep herself sane. Her efforts did not go unnoticed. The testing on Terra was just as harsh, but she was determined to prove her worth. Ultimately, she was deemed worthy and handed over to the Scholastia Psykana.
Philomena brought her cutthroat attitude to her training, which was not as appreciated by her teachers as it had been on her home world. After she pushed another student until they unleashed their powers against another student, she was severely punished. The event left its scars on her. She learned that she had to be more careful with her colleagues. An "embarassing outburst" in
this school meant a "traumatically dangerous outburst". She adjusted her approach, but she had already damaged her reputation. Under extra scrutiny from her teachers and from the other students, she strove to excel and convince them all that she had made a youthful error and that there was nothing more to see here. She learned to use her childhood teaching in a more defensive manner, parrying and deflecting undue attention, while slowly regaining the trust of her peers and educators. To the world, she became the perfect pupil: respectful, attentive, studious.
But, her experience pushing another student had also taught her that some were too weak to be here, and therefore, were dangerous. They had to be found and exposed before they could threaten the others. She used her budding telepathic and prognostication skills to root out students who were risks and exposing them to her teachers. She befriended those she thought were of uncertain quality, became a shoulder to cry on. She helped shore up the weaknesses of those she could. The others, she plotted to expose, careful not to allow her involvement to be noticed. She was largely successful, but not completely. A teacher noticed her efforts. "Luckily" for her, he was also a scout for the Inquisition. He kept his eye on her, and ultimately marked her as a suitable recruit.
When Philomena graduated from the Scholastica Psykana, she was assigned to the Inquisition, where she was chosen by Inquisitor Maud Grimm as an acolyte.
