General OOC

Alright, time for action. Well, some action. Marius is just going to take his half move to get behind the nearest burnt out vehicle and ready his shotgun. I'll add some fluff shortly, but I figured I could get this up so people can act accordingly.

Felyx should still be on Servitor. He will instruct servitor to run move to the corner of the building directly to his NW - should just be two squares diagonal to get out of sight of the side cops, and in partial cover as I understand it from the other cops.

After Servitor moves, 1/2 draw hotshot las pistol, 1/2 aim at Grunt D

IC: Felyx blurted out something in binary and Servitor rolled diagonally backward on its tread. Meanwhile, the tech priest was pulling out his hot shot las pistol and taking a bead on one of the Arbites farther away.

"Spreading out! Spreading out! Confusion grenades having!" He tried to warn his comrades.

As I look at the map Egill is going to run SouthEast 1sq, East 4sq, SouthEast 1sq and hunker right down so he's not visible at all. This will put me behind the bottom most car that is on a diagonal. Does that make sense?

I don't suppose we could add grid references to the map?

Felyx seemed to have the right idea and as there was a larger group of Arbites Egill marked them as his priority. Awesome. Yeah since everyone in the party goes before the enemies, I am encouraging players to post actions whenever they can to speed up combat rather than waiting for every person to go in initiative order.

Although obviously if actions depend on another player going first, then we can wait no issue.

BTW I appreciate you posting the hit locations for each shot, makes my job a lot easier!

So here is the updated combat map. I am ready to update IC and do the enemies actions but I noticed that Felyx is definitely out of range with a hot shot laspistol at the enemy he is aiming at, so im going to ask jeff if he wants to retcon his move.

Felyx kept his aim on the arbitrator some distance away and fired a shot, but he must have twitched at the last moment. It went wide and was off target.

IC: As Dorian arrives he nearly smiles at the chaos of it all. It was marvelous. Seeing some familiar faces being attacked by Arbites, he does the only natural thing. He takes aim at the biggest trophy and, simultaneously, the hardest target to hit on that tropy: the back of the commander's head.

He takes a quick breath in, slowly releases it, and squeezes the trigger. It was a beautiful shot, really.

IC – Egill was impressed the leader of the arbites didn’t go down as a shot slammed into the side of his head. Tough nut to crack! If he still lived in a few moments he would see if his claymore couldn’t finish the job. While he got his blade free of its scabbard he dug deep into his internal reserves bringing the bio electricity of his body to the fore, electricity began to crackle and leap around his forearm and his clenched fist. It took but a second to gather the power needed, at its peak Egills fist snaps open unleashing blue coloured lighting which fills the air with the smell of ozone. “Heretic!” the big man judges the arbite.

Alistair sighed. Damn Arbites armour is tougher than he expected, but it was better to eliminate a target than leave one wounded but vengeful. Alistair snapped another burst at the man. 'Ting'. SOmething hits a nearby car. It wasn't a familiar sound, but Alistair knew it wasn't a bullet. Maybe a dart? Trying to keep his body behind cover, Alistair swivels his head, looking for the location of the shooter. Motion draws Alistair's eyes to a quick figure ducking into the shadows. These eyes are still useful, Alistair mused.
"Unknown assailant above you Donna! Balcony, second floor. Take care!"

Marius gritted his teeth. Chaos had erupted all around as the combat began in earnest. He tried to recall the positions of the assailants from his brief glimpse before diving into cover. He swung up over the top of the burnt out auto and, sighting in on a nearby grunt, pulled the trigger. Center of mass. The "Mauler" bucked in his hands, blasting the man full in the chest.

Attikus followed his tracking beacon and arrived on the scene to find Arbites barring the way of the Inquisition. The holy father cursed his timing - if he had arrived earlier perhaps it would've been easier to try to keep peace. Still, he had to try... once he found a way to keep his head from getting blown off. He was nowhere near any cover, but he had his own personal shield to make use of: the steel of his faith.

Taking a moment to ignite the Brazier attached to his backpack, Attikus became a blazing beacon against the dark and his figure cast a long shadow before him down the alleyway. The illuminated details of his priestly trappings and icons of devotion were clear for all to see. He opened his arms out wide to show he had not equipped a weapon.

"Arbites, cease your fire!" He cried with the Ecclesiarchy's voice of authority, projecting his voice through the Laud Hailer on his floating Servo-Skull for all to hear, hopefully above the gunshots, "If you are men and women of the Emperor, in His name, lower your arms!" If he was not able to persuade any of the Arbites to actually drop their weapons he could at least prove to be something of a distraction.

Donna smiled as they walked into a shit show. This was what she lived for, the ultra violence. She hefts the chainaxe over her shoulder and looks at Dorian with a wicked smile.
"Ladies first mr. Manners?" she says before running to action, not caring about the sniper in the rafters. Dorain could take care of that for her.
She leaps into action against the two hiding behind a convener vehicle. The axe whirs into life as it takes a mighty cleaving attack at the one towards the outside.
All the while, her laugh was maniacal and off-putting. It was almost as if she enjoyed the act of violence, which she did.

Couple things to note - I am treating all the cover on the board right now as obscuring legs and body. If we get another type of cover I will amend but for simplicity's sake I'm sticking to that.

I posted all PC actions in order they were posted as it made the most sense narratively.

Sorry, I just noticed this is incorrect. That's 6 DoS.

Per my house rules section (using DH2E system of calculating DOS or DOF):

If the roll is equal to or lower than the characteristic, the character has gained one degree of success (DoS). He also gains additional degrees of success equal to the tens digit of the target value minus the tens digit of the roll. Conversely, if the roll is higher than the characteristic, the character has gained one degree of failure (DoF), and gains additional degrees of failure equal to the tens digit of the roll minus the tens digit of the target value.

Basically:

1) Has the roll succeed? 1 DoS. Failed? 1 DoF.

2) Compare tens digits. Calculate the difference. Add difference to DoS or DoF.

For clarity, that's in the house rules thread, but it's actually RAW for Dark Heresy 2E. I believe that text is copied straight from the rulebook.

Would it be worthwhile to get together all the GMs for FFG 40K RPGs on the site and get everyone to agree on the same method? So that way we are not having different games going with different methods of calculating DOS or DOF? It inevitably creates confusion for all the players and GMs here in multiple games with multiple versions of the core mechanic.

Personally I just want to use the simplest method for it...but if there was no easy consensus among the GMs, we could always drop it.

Donna hacks the enforcer clean in half with the chainaxe. The action did little to satisfy her.
The axe gleamed with newly exposed gristle and she herself had no small amout of back splatter on her right side as well.
She looks to the next one, ignoring cries of snipers and hidden gunshots. She didnt care for him, not yet, only the next guy in line. "Next in the que luv?" she asks him casually as she launches into an attack, bringing the heavy axe down in a heavy arc.

Assuming he can see him now that Allistair has called it out, Felyx will full round aim on the sniper.

IC: Seeing the newest threat, Felyx decided to take very careful aim.

OOC: Seeing as they haven't complied, Attikus is branding them all HERETICS and taking a full action to use Inspire encouraging his allies giving them all +10 towards their next skill or characteristic test.

Egill hadn't tied the wounds on the victims of heresy to the shooters weapon at this point, but he was aware that he presented a problem that needed dealing with. He was in a lofty position and could cause the acolytes trouble. The was another arbite in his way that needed dealing with first though.

As Egill started his charge he became aware of the righteous music and words being shouted in the acolytes encouragement and at the arbites expense. It roused his spirit and strengthened his arm, he snarled as he swung his claymore in a mighty arc at his foe.

I guess I can't do much for taking down the shooter short of accidentally killing him. And I'm too slow to be that helpful in pursuit. So... back to blammin' heretics. Grunt F made the mistake of still being in my line of fire so... Shooting Grunt F. Since I have the time, I'll take a half-aim while I'm at it.

Marius sighted in for a second shot, rapidly racking another shell. He sighted in on the same "arbites" and... managed to "cleanse" a section of sidewalk nearby.

He shook the sweat out of his eyes. Damn it. While the music that had suddenly filled the streets may have intended to galvanize them to action, it'd thrown off his concentration. Who is making such a racket, anyway?

Unfortunately, it seemed that it was only him facing down the two Arbites. He might need to coordinate something with Marius, or, Saints above, Felyx. Still, if there was one good thing, it seemed the team had picked up some kind of psychotic orator, who was bellowing damnations at their enemy. Alistair loved it, it reminded him of the Guard.

OOC: Attikus takes a Full Action to run 18 metres to H21, suffering -20 to any Perception tests if needed.

IC: As far as Attikus could see, the immediate coast was clear: all Arbites grunts had been taken out by Donna and Egill. Given that he was a sitting duck where he stood, Attikus took this opportunity to reposition himself closer to the rest of his team. There had been a call-out about an 'unknown assailant', but he couldn't see where so he had to be careful. He issued another coded command in High Gothic to his faithful Servo-Skull which cut its music and floated soundlessly alongside its master as he took to his heels and dashed across the deserted street towards the end corner of the far building, resting his back against the solid wall for protection.

IC: Felyx kept his pistol level. Once the assassin moved to seemingly deftly dodge Dorian's shot, he squeezed the trigger. A brilliant flash of red seared across the area between them, penetrating deeply but perhaps not deeply enough.

Egill glanced around the battlefield. Donna was more than capable of looking after herself and the rest of the firefight was dying down apart from the shooter a few levels up. It was important that he didn't escape. Egill would relish beating the information they needed out of him. Head down and weaving to deter him becoming a target he runs towards the door of the building the shooter was using. He planned to rush inside and get to him as quickly as he could.

So If Im reading the latest map right, the only enemy left near me is the shooter?

I can hardly chuck a grenade that far, but I figure I can do some suppressing fire to try and give Alistair an opening to make his move.

Marius cackled maniacally, swiveling to face the grunts that had pinned Alistair down. He fired off two blasts of the shotgun in quick succession, peppering the rusted out auto the two had taken cover behind. Maybe this'll keep the bastards' heads down for a moment.

No. Grunt E is alive. Grunt E dodged your shot, as clarified IC. Grunt F was killed by Egill. As shown on the map, there is an enemy adjacent to you that just shot you at point blank.

Under the assumption the enemy is pinned, Alistair will half move (2 squares for 3m?) north. Change fire modes on the lasgun, and semi auto burst on Grunt B.
