| UPDATE Just wanted to reach out and update everyone on where I am at, and where my mind is at. The semester is nearly at an end, but due to COVID-19 and correspondence work for my Inmate Scholars, I will be grading long into the break. Even still, I will have more time to update. So, I hope to get back to this battle in the next three weeks or so. Additionally, I will continue following the initiative order we have established rather than the Good guys go then Bad guys go, as was discussed via LINE. BTW I still appreciate your efforts to restart some discussion, Dave. That has not gone unnoticed. Really, I appreciate all of you who have been constant motivating forces for me here. As of right now, I genuinely do not know what will happen with this game after this battle. I have a mind to take a break from GMing for some time and focus on just being a player. For one, I really hate getting things started and then having to drop off again - that sucks. But in a more selfish/necessary way, this game has been going nearly constantly for years now, and I think it is time to take a break and re-evaluate what I want to do. I think that after this fight we can all expect a definite break. Whether or not I pick up the reigns will depend on how much time I have to plan the next story arch. If I can find the time to sit down and write out my ideas, then I will truly have the extra time to sit down and be the GM you all deserve. Fair? I'd appreciate any responses. We are a family of strangers, after all. Thanks, all. | |

| Getting in some small updates for Round 11Mac - Rhone is down for the rest of the encounter. Fate had to be burned not to die, as we discussed previously. I don't believe this has been marked on your sheet yet though. You are at 1/2 FPs. You should be at 0/1 after the burn if I am not mistaken. Nita - Remember that next turn you will be frenzied, and make sure to state what your new malignancy is (also add the 4 corruption to your PC sheet if you haven't). Kenji - gets a headshot on the Brute and deal 10 damage total; no armor on the head comes to 5 damage. It has now taken 15 total damge. Flamboyants/Cuck: 1/2 move to PB, 1/2 volley fire TN 55; rolled 11/BOOM HEAD SHOTS. Damage 5 and 9. Only the 9 scores a kill. One more mutie down. https://orokos.com/roll/866830- Cuck swings the hammer: WS 50 (single/aim, darkness); pulverizes one. Another mutie down. https://orokos.com/roll/866831E Squad 1: 3 melee vs Cuck - all three hit/ 4 damage total - https://orokos.com/roll/8668325 volley fire on Flamboyants in sight - chews the remaining two up to shit. Dead. https://orokos.com/roll/866833E Squad 3 - Breaks cover and heads toward the alley way. Officially out of Rook's sight line. Kaylith - 1/2 move into melee, 1/2 carve assholes up. Kill https://orokos.com/roll/866835E Squad 4 - fail to notice Kaylith. https://orokos.com/roll/866836HAD TO STOP HERE FOR THE NIGHT. Abstract- please post for Cessia, as Squad 4's action will not affect hers. | |

| Cessia is just going to run as far back into the building as she can to avoid the big angry mutant. If she can get any cover at the end of her movement she'd do that as well, and hopefully stay out of sight of the firefight outside! - IC:
Cessia took one look at the massive mutant, and it took a millisecond for her to process her chances of survival if he were to lock her into melee. Zero. This was NOT where she was meant to be, combat was not her area of expertise.
So she turned and ran as fast as she could back into the building, trying to find cover from the firefight outside and the sight of the mutant if he entered the building to look for her. The hope was that he would turn to fight the Ashigaru and she would be able to return to provide support, but if he pursued then she was more than ready to keep running.

| Love it, Abstract. I will have Cessia turn and run back up the stairs toward Rook if it's all the same. Stairwell provides cover and Rook is the safest spot in the building - an actual trained combatant and more distance from the firefight. | |

| (New Malignancy is Palsey- already taken the 7 from my Agility and Corruption added to PC Sheet.)
Ruaidhri OOC Ruidhri is going to half action stand up and half action move 3m towards the mutants who've come out the staircase. (I don't think with the frenzy I've got any choice with this? I have to move toward the nearest enemy.) He's also going to gesture at the PB crew on the roof calling them to attack the mutants.
Ruiddhri IC Blood oozing out from his wound, Ruaidhri momentarily closed his eyes, and tried to close his mind to the pain. He had more important things to worry about. His life essence might be flowing out of him but if he didn't focus on clearing the roof out it would flow till the roof was covered or he was quenched. Opening his eyes, he brought a new target into sight and was just lining up a shot, when suddenly there was a roaring noise in his ears. His heart was beating frantically and his lips pulled back to show his teeth. He needed to be in contact. He needed to hit the enemy. He needed to feel their flesh beneath his fist, feel the bone break and their blood to squirt.
Jumping up to his feet he moved towards the closest mutants. Seeing the reinforcements who'd just joined them he gestured towards the mutants. "LET'S KILL EM BOYS!"
From the place of cover, Uallachan's mouth fell open. Had he cracked?

| OOC - Pin the prone enemies https://orokos.com/roll/869648 = 97... jammed! IC Jules paled inside at the destruction her dominate caused, she rarely used her powers and using them to kill pained her. It had now happened twice in the space of one day. That was not at all good and she doubted her choices, what the fuck has she got herself into. Despite the doubts her new friends and her survival were intertwined and she damned well would stay effective. The sight of help arriving further steeled her to get a grip, it was not as dire as Jules thought. Glancing over the piping Jules spies the prone duo, she brings her pistol up with the intention of hosing them down but instead hears a crunch and then a clicking noise from her firearm as it jammed FUCK! | |

| Mutant Squad 4 Reinforcements: 1/2 draw grenade, 1/2 toss ideally to do most damage which is between Ruaidhri/Uallachan and the Poo-Beya's guys. BS 35 +10 (standard attack) +0 Distance <45; rolled 22/4 DoS & 78/5 DoF Damage: 16 & 12, pen 0 Scatter: NE (bad news) 5 m. https://orokos.com/roll/872534Jules escapes any of this completely unscathed. Ruiadhri and Uallachan are in trouble as this occurs before his movement. In fact, I believe this will kill Uallachan as he has already moved from the Health --> Wounded condition during this fight. The rules don't mention anything about not being able to react while Frenzied, so that shouldn't be an issue. However, I don't think it is logical that Ruaidhri would have the mental capability to shield Uallachan from the grenade - as that would break frenzy which dictates Ruaidhri must attack the nearest enemy. So, here's what I am going to offer: If you pass a +0 dodge at your normal modifiers, I will allow it to be counted as Uallachan dodging. Ruaidhri will still be dealing with 16 damage. Furthermore, this will slaughter 4 of the low-levelers on the roof and kill the one coming over the ladder for a total of 5 dead for Poo Beya's reinforcements. Mutant prone grenadier break pinning: 15 vs 36/pinning broken. Luckily he is out of frags. https://orokos.com/roll/872541Both prone mutants will fire on Jules and Ruaidhri (who are both currently in full cover from this angle). 1/2 draw weapon, 1/2 fire BS 35 +20 (range/prone) +0 semi auto <55; rolled 75 & 83/miserable failures. The Emperor Protects. | |

| Points of Order:
Change Uallachan's status to "Wounded" instead of "Healthy"; clearing the blast zone has taken Uallachan out of cohesion as Ruaidhri must advance on the enemy.
Ruaidhri has already taken 8 damage this fight. Because he is Frenzied and wearing flak armor, the damage reduction vs the frag this round is 9, so he takes 7 more damage. That is a total of 3 critical damage to Ru - body. Update that as well, onegai itashimasu.
Critical Effects: The force of the blast sends the target sprawling to the ground. The target is knocked backwards 1d5 metres, Stunned for 1 Round, and is knocked Prone. - Because of where it landed, it knocks you south rather than "backwards".
So, you may want to amend your IC just a bit to reflect being prone and stunned. Obviously you won't be acting this round. Next round you can go for broke with murder though.

NEED A DODGE -10 (Prone) FROM STUBBS This dodge from September 19, 2020 was never rolled for me. I was wondering why in my head Stubbs had already been "killed" and had to burn fate to survive. It was because I was remembering this devastating series of kill shots what were never evaded. Stubbs Dodge -20 (fatigue/prone) <11; rolled 64 https://orokos.com/roll/873360Stubbs has now "died". You may FP re-roll. If not, or on a fail, you must burn fate to keep him alive, but he will remain out of combat for the rest of the encounter. After burning, he will have 0/2 FP remaining. Wiremu spots Stubbs' prone, unmoving form behind the northernmost vehicle. It looks like Stubbs was attempting to crawl to the cover of the truck before giving up... or being stopped.

| Since Rook can't see anyone on the street anymore, and there's a commotion in the hallway (per LINE), he'll turn to the doorway and aim the stubber at it. Not overwatch, as he would remember that Cessia had charged in without announcing earlier and icing a teammate wouldn't be great right now. Gonna assume that shifting position on the bed is a full action, but if not, he'll delay.
Full/half action to turn away from the street and aim at the door. + delay if it's only half action.
IC Rook watched his target duck out of sight before a moment later taking off into the HQ after the Voice. It was then that he heard footsteps charging down the hallway. Without a second thought for what could be still below in the street he flipped over on the bed and aimed the cut off stubber at the doorway. Anything coming through that door would have a split second to make peace before he blasted it apart. Turn around and cover the door! he hissed at the nervous civilian. The next moment saw Cessia appear in the doorway, staring down their barrels. Rook clicked his tongue in bemusement before flipping over to the other corner of the bed. He had heard another commotion down there and wanted to keep his attention towards the street. If there were more mutants he would keep them pinned until the flanks swung around them. He peered over the edge of the window sill, doing his best to keep low while snatching a glance.
When Cessia blurted out the news of Rhone's demise and the mutant likely following her into room, Rook offered nothing but silence in return. After a few moments he replied, You are mistaken. Rhone doesn't just die. His wounds have obviously overpowered his ability to remain conscious. I suggest you run a diagnostic of your pict viewers when we mop this rabble up. He looked at the civilian, Watch the door with her.

| Once you 1/2 action turn, you'll clearly see Cessia making a bee-line toward your position. Knowing that, want to do something besides delay with that 1/2 action? | |

| Cessia is going to get into the room with Rook and find a nice, safe corner to hide in with her autogun ready! - IC:
Cessia moved with her mechanical, too-calculated movements into the room and found the farthest spot from the door that was still in cover from the street to stand with her autogun at the ready and trained at the door, though she did not have enough time to aim or prepare an overwatch.
Things were not going well, that much was very, very obvious to Cessia and her very mathematical mind. The odds did not seem to be in their favor, and it was highly likely that the mutant from below would follow her up. "Statement: There is a large mutant coming behind me. He killed Designate: Rhone. Suggestion: Be ready for his arrival."

Ruaidhri IC As the concussive echo faded from his ears, Ruaidhri found the sudden frenzied anger which had gripped hold of him was gone too. He was no longer on his feet, but back prone and he felt like he'd been stepped on. There was an uncomfortable oozing feeling all over his body, he wasn't sure which parts of his body were bleeding but it felt like everywhere. He noticed the two last mutants had got up and were moving towards the gun. Aiming his gun, he tried to line up a shot, but with his body still trying to gather itself, he fired over their shoulders. "Excellent shot angry boi."Hearing the new arrivals on the roof, Ruaidhri directed his voice to them. "We need to stop them getting to the gun. Attack!"

She tried not to look at the bits of flesh plastered about. Her gaze wandered to Numa laying still on the floor and then to Kaylith who was shouting something and pointing. Jules followed her pointing arm, the enemy fire team were trying to get to the heavy machine gun so she brought up her pistol and pulled the trigger... in the explosion she'd forgotten it was jammed. Roll 91- Miss https://orokos.com/roll/873984
Couple of things here, my dude: 1) Per my last update, Ruaidhri and Uallachan are no longer in cohesion. So, Ru cannot benefit from his normal Comrade abilities/boons/etc. 2) Frenzied Characters have -20 to BS (and intelligence/fellowship) 2.5) In other words, you should be roleplaying Ruaidhri as though his Intelligence score was 15 and Fellowship 32. Intelligence of 15 is excessively low, so let that influence your dialogue choices. 3) From the book: "While Frenzied, the character must attack the nearest enemy in melee combat if possible. If he is not engaged with the nearest enemy, he must move towards that enemy and engage it if possible." It is possible for Ruaidhri to engage in melee, so rather than lining up any shots, he would be standing and moving toward the enemy, which you need to retcon. 4)Both mutants are moving, so not prone. Once I have an updated IC to refect this, I will edit the main IC. Carn - please update your PC sheet to reflect the FP loss. I believe Jules should be at 1/3 now. While you are at it, can you put the Weapon Jinx description in your profile like the others powers that you totally don't have? It'll help me in the future. Speaking of which, Weapon Jinx has a hard 10m range at your current Psy Rating, which is far out of range for Jules currently. I'm going to let it slide to move things along and because you used a FP, but this is another reason why that info should be handy.

| Rook will roll back over to face the door and overwatch on the entrance, waiting for the big nasty that chased Cessia away to appear. If he can't overwatch, then he'll delay.
IC After taking in the scene below, and spying the enemies that were left on the street, Rook rolled back over to cover the door with Cessia and the civilian. He lined up the stubber on the doorway and waited. The next thing that barged through that door was going to have a very hard time not breaking apart under their combined fire. He sat and listened for footsteps...

UPDATE
Just wanted to reach out and update everyone on where I am at, and where my mind is at.
So, this is a fitting spot to update from. It has been a year since I posted this, and once again I am asking for your support *best Bernie voice* in reading this update. Once again, due to correspondence work I am grading long into my winter break. I taught 8 classes this last semester - the most I have ever taught. For reference that is three over a normal load, and I hope it helps explain why I wasn't able to update sooner. On top of that, I went through my third year evaluation in the fall, am the new faculty lead of the Bakersfield College Gaming Club, am the lead of our college's cohort for an Anti-Racist Education Fellowship, and fuck... I don't know. Other shit. Haha, it has been something else. I still am planning on a break after this battle. At the very least I owe that to myself, and to all of you mostly, to plan the next arch and consider potentially doing something different in the Bastards universe. I have already put out feelers, and I have a good idea of who can dedicate time to this and who cannot. If that has changed for anyone, please let me know. As an aside, there is a lot that I have either forgotten (or notes misplaced) that may cause some inconsistencies in the coming updates. I really do apologize if that happens. I simply ask that you let me know if you see it, but to also exercise some grace and not get bogged down in the crunch. I am much more focused on getting a good RP experience out of the end of this battle than I am on making sure every single roll is perfectly done to the T. So, without further ado, I will begin working on this update.

| Cessia makes sure she is in cover if she wasn't already, and shoots a bitch! - IC:
"Statement: My pict viewers are fully functional and my understanding of human biology likely surpasses yours. You are likely in shock, I suggest ignoring the revelation until after the battle is over."Cessia spoke even as the giant mutant thundered up the stairs. She brought her autogun up and fired after Rook did, hoping to bring the thing down before it had any chance to reach her and do what it had done to Rhone... The flesh was weak, at least for now, and she had many things to do before she let it die. - Rolls:
Aiming as a half action, then shooting. Assuming she doesn't need to move to be in cover. Shooting +_Aim (BS 32 + 10) <42: 1d100 20 Somehow hits! 4 DoS. Should be another +10 for standard attack so make that 5 DoS. Autogun Damage - Impact: 1d10+3 10

| Reminder to catch up with the IC first. The initiative order already has the mutant coming into view, so I assume you'll want to change up your action. | |

| Ruaidhri OOC Ruaidhri and Uallachan will full move to the wall with a view down at people climbing the ladder. Being that I will have an extra 2m I'd like them to move to cover if possible, and as far from the ladder as possible, without getting closer to the doorway. Basically whereever two injured snipers would go to avoid getting squished with still getting a view on who is climbing the ladder. While running Ruaidhri will call on the two who have just climbed the ladder to shoot at whoever is going to climb up and the others to cover the door.
Ruaidhri IC The halfling had been aiming his weapon at the remaining cultists when a wave of fire overcame them and suddenly the roof was clear of them. "Who do these lot think they are? Marines riding in to save the day?" "I thought Marines were meant to be aquatic? What would they ride then?" "Feck for brains, that's only for Terra. Everything else is reached by boat. So technically they can ride anything. Probably thinking of riding right now." He put a heavy emphasis on the hard 'R' when he spoke, but Ruaidhri's mind was on the warning Kaylith had shouted out. An attack fore and aft. Double-teaming them. Or as Uallachan put it, 'receiving the catechism'
Turning he moved quickly towards the wall, trying to find a spot where he'd have a sight on whoever was going to climb it and still have a bit of cover. As he moved he shouted out to the new arrivals on the roof. "Good shooting but we've more incoming. You two that have just come up can you fire on anyone coming up the ladder, the rest of you cover that door!"

| OOC - full action to un-jam my pistol
IC With the brief lul in combat Jules found tears coming to her eyes. She had killed again, the dead and the dying and bits of them were scattered across the rooftop. She was no soilder and today was becoming all to much... She shook her head, anger flaring to keep her emotions at bay, this was not done yet.
She became aware of Ruaidhri giving out orders, covering the door and the stairs. So she left the others for now and looked to herself. Her pistol was jammed... she pulled the clip out and seeing the offending bullet pinged it out after a brief struggle. Slamming the clip back into place her gaze came back up.

| Rook Overwatch +30 prone +10 size +10 range -20 full run -10 overwatch; BS 43 +20 <63; rolled 3/7 DoS, 7 hits. No pinning test as the Brute is fearless. Damage (pen 3): 7, 8, 14 (RF: 5); 10, 8, 6, 10 - Total 21 Damage RF 5 Impact Head: Nothing. Between True Grit and a successful toughness roll, the righteous fury is completely negated.
As an obvious aside, the Brute totally fails the dodge - didn't have high chances.
Cessia (there was a -20 per IC due to a full run) still hits - total damage of 1 after TB/Armor, which bumps it to 1 more crit.
Jules is good to go. 3/4 reloads remaining.
++++
That's round 13. Once I get Wiremu's Round 14 action, I will start the next round. Might as well have Rook's as well.

| Full action untying Anderson
IC
Wiremu was swearing under his breath as he started untying her.
"Fucking Stubbs dead...everything turning to shit....what the fuck...."
He keeps working, first loosening her feet and then hands, ready to take her weight once it dropped.
"Miss...wake up miss. Shit is bad. We need some of your bully boys down here to sort shit out miss..."

| Full auto into the brute (HA), then if he's toast stand and go back into the bedroom (HA). BS 43, Full auto -10, prone +30, size +10, range +10; =<83 46 = 5 DoS; 5 hits https://orokos.com/roll/928488damage 10, 5, 6, 13, 11; pen 3 https://orokos.com/roll/928489IC One of the Ratlings would have a derogatory description for this, Rook thought after he and Cessia's combined fire dropped the mutant like a bad recurring protocol. Seeing that the beast was still drawing ragged breaths, and Cessia's claim that it had somehow ended Sergeant Rhone's career, Rook let fly with another long burst to put it down for good. He paused for a heartbeat to make sure it wouldn't be getting back up. He nodded to himself once and stood up. Well done. That is quite a specimen. I have no doubt if it managed to engage Rhone in close quarters, then he is either dead or in dire need of your skills. Take the civilian and recover him, if you can. He crouched as he went back into the room to post up over the street and look for more targets. Perhaps the one with the hat was still down there... | |

| Andrew - you get an additional +20 for stunned target, but he is prone so -10, for an additional DoS. But it doesn't matter because the forth shot, to its head, puts it down. Unless of course it has fate points. Who knows, right?
Dave - Cheers, my brother.
OK, Cessia/Ruaidhri/Jules are up in that order!

| Cessia is going to do as Rook says even though the brute doesn't look dead and start heading down to the first floor again. AFTER She checks the cameras that she controls to see if anyone is down there waiting for her. Then she's heading down and moving off towards where their leader got shmushed. - IC:
Cessia stared at the Brute as it fell against the wall. It did not seem to be dead, so Rook shot it again. She still wasn't convinced it was dead, but she wanted to be as far away from it as possible so she would do as Rook said. "Statement: Understood. Recommendation: Shoot it again, utilize the grenade launcher to provide aid for our allies below, it is efficient."
Cessia assumed the civilian would follow her since Rook said they should, so she said nothing to them as she pulled out her datapad and looked at the cameras she had captured once more. She flipped through each of them, and would notify the group of anything important going on. Assuming the bottom floor of the building she was in was empty, Cessia started heading that way with one final word to Rook.
"Request: Do not destroy the body, it will be useful to study when the battle is over."

| Ruaidhri OOC Ruaidhri be setting up an overwatch on the top of the ladder.
Ruaidhri IC An odd silence had descended over the rooftop. They were currently in the eye of the storm, surviving the battle thus far, but it was about to get a second wind. Further violence was coming here, on either side of them, their enemies hoping to crush them between their hammer and anvil. Not the ideal position to be in, but it could be worse. As if on queue, Uallachan farted.
Ruaidhri made eyes across the roof at the new arrivals who'd arrived to give them much needed reinforcements. He nodded his head across at them, his partners in the coming conflict, and then raised his gun and trained his sight on the top of the wall, where you could just make out the top rung of the ladder. He slowed his breathing and allowed himself to loose himself in concentration on this one action.
Crouched next to him Uallachan grinned as the foul scent wafted around him. He caught Numa's look and gave her a wink. For a moment he considered miming something sexual across at her, but the complete stillness of his companion seemed to have some influcence. He pointed one finger at the top of the ladder and then the other at the door and mimed shooting. For good luck he then sucked each thumb and then turned his head back to where his partner was looking.

| Abstract - going to err on the side of moving the game along here, but in the future give me how you plan to spread out your actions. 1/2 action this and 1/2 action that OR full action run, etc.
To save time and not bog the game down, I am going to assume she is checking the camera as she full (18m) runs to the rear of the building where the downed Brute/stairs are.
Dave - Based on LINE chat, Jules will remain in overwatch on the ladder.
OK ALL that's the end of Round 14.
Nik, you are up!

| Rook will full run back to the brute for the launcher.
IC Rook froze at Cessia's mention of the launcher. His skills must be slipping if he was missing opportunities to add to his stockpile of contraband this easily. He turned to run out of the room once more. Cessia had already departed when he made it to the hall, but her second statement rang in his ears still, do not destroy the body. He skidded to a halt and loomed over the Brute with Jacjonson snaking out from under his robes, cutting torch already lit and hissing. I'll not destroy this corpse, but we'll make sure it doesn't get up again.

| Overwatch IC for last round
Jules could feel the sweat on her palms against the grip of her pistol as she trained it at the top of the ladder. A person would appear over the lip of the wall onto the roof at any moment, a person she would try and kill. It seemed to take an age but only seconds ticked by. She looked at the others, her allies she supposed and she had never felt so alone. She knew none of them. Although she'd only known them for less than 24 hours she thought of Rhone and Kenji, she hoped they were both ok. They were the only friends she had on this god forsaken port.
She tightened her grip on the pistol...

| Full action poke my head over the truck and have a good look around. Look for enemies, nearby weapons, anything of interest.
IC:
Wiremu carefully raises his head up just over the back of the truck and takes in the situation, taking a good moment to scan for what is going on and look for weapons.
"Yeah..mutants miss. Fucking messy as! And they have this ..."
He pauses...feeling the bile rise in the back of his throat at the thought of...Her...
He takes a breath an continues.
"...this lady...she....she got in my head......."
He loses focus, his mind scrabbling at some imaginary walls.
"....we need help miss. Can you get your bullyboys down here to sort this shit out?"
