Move forward. Keep your eyes open. Hydrako murmured over the vox in his gorget. The urge to clamp his mouth shut and let the Silence take over was getting stronger and stronger as they moved forward, but he fought it down knowing he would need to give orders in battle soon enough. Bolter fire comes from either Astartes or traitors....He left it at that as he lifted his storm bolter at the ready and his chainaxe waited to be triggered. He moved on the flank, trying to avoid the grasping hands of vines and creepers, but the think jungle was not going to make things easy.

Bleda follows Hydrako's lead and orders.

Ok, were moving again. Cassiel is next.

Having shared with the squad the technique that made a Dark Angels advance so perilous for the enemy, Cassiel moved forward as well, ready for the fight. In his heart and mind, he could not decide whether he hoped for allies or traitor marines that they might destroy.

Okay so, I realized that Azza's sheet never had Athletics down or not. Is it available in the Deathwatch books or did we just have to take it for some XP? Or do we just assume we have it trained?

IC: Serephan continued on from his position, edging his way through the thick forest and towards the fire. He moved as quickly as the ground would let him, but did his best so that the gunfire might mask his movements. If you could mask the sound of power armor destroying forests. He kept a look out for any new developments, but nothing came to his senses. Still, he moved forward as per Hydrako's orders.

If Serephan had any of the old athletics skills (Swim,climb, ect) trained then they count as athletics.

IC dialogue break:

Lucius spots figures some meters up ahead, moving through the trees. "Tangos ahead. Marks targets on these coordinates."

He then explains the relative positions of the figures he sees to Draco so that the others can mark it in their battle helms.

Hydrako found a weak patch in the underbrush and creeping vines which allowed him to move freely for a few more meters. Though he was alerted to the movement, still forgoing his helmet, he trudged forward without seeing anything

I also didn't have it as a skill, and it doesn't look like I had advanced climb/swim. What's the penalty for not having it? I think my roll is good enough...

Base STR is 53 (assuming Athletics uses the same ability as Climb/Swim)... Not sure if any of the Power Armor/Astartes abilities apply as a bonus for that.

So, game plan, boys?

Lucius has eyes on targets. I am thinking keeping formation - keeping them spotted - but moving closer to either confirm friendly or make contact. If not friendly, what're Hydrako's orders? Engage? Obviously if they shoot first, I am going to smash them into the ground.

They're running away from the team at the moment, so we still have the element of surprise. I say we keep moving forward in formation until we find out what they are running to. Seraphan to keep scouting, just in case he can pinpoint anything concrete. I have an idea where we are going, but Hydrako doesn't lol.

If they turn out to be hostiles, we will have them well spotted when we get to what they are attacking and we can attack them in the rear.

For now, we just hold and keep moving

Hydrako kept moving forward. The squad was doing well to keep formation and hold off on the attack. Whomever was firing bolters deep in this jungle would have to wait one way or another before they showed themselves. If they were friendly then he would smash into their assailants and releive them. If they weren't, bad luck...

Still need IC from Serephan, Cassiel is next.

The shadow figures are moving away from you towards the sounds of gunfire. They are not running, but dont see to be keeping silent either.

IC: Keeping formation, Bleda eagerly awaits orders to interact with the shadows before them, even while he can't see them at present. Be it to contact or engage them.

Cassiel couldn't see or hear much in the darkness, but he knew the direction of march. He moved as well as he could through the tangled undergrowth. As a Devestator, he usually didn't like to get close. Too bad there wasn't a Scout Squad to serve as spotters and allow him to rain fire down from afar.

Serephan will likely wait for orders from Hydrako before engaging. I think you summed up pretty much how he would tell it. I will get some IC in once some people respond.

I figured. Your in a position where once you break silence it will be hard to regain it.

BUT, just because we are in structured time doesn't mean anyone else cant gimme some IC on what they think we ought to do.

Dialogue IC break:

"Hydrako, permission to break rank and take point." Lucius wanted to break the formation so that one of them could at the very least assess the situation. For all they knew, they could be walking into a trap. Better one of them spring it than all.

If they waited and let the melee play out, one way or another the amount of bodies out there would be reduced. He had no fear of mortals if the victors turned out to be hostile, and if they were friendly then it wouldn't matter either. He could feel the squad around him starting to chafe at the leash he had them on, and rightly he felt it too. He caught the smell of blood on the wind and began to gnash to stimulate the flow. After a moment longer he hiss into the vox, Do. Not. Give us away. he said simply, before cutting in Or I will have your tattooed hide. Go and see what you can see, but only engage when engaged. Let's see what happens. He looked over at the Blood Angel as if he were standing next to him, Hold position and let Lucius go forward.
