His Story:
William Hudson Pax, known to those around him as "Hud," was born to kill but trained to love. At least, that's what he would tell you after a round of drinks. In reality, he was born a farmer's son in the inner systems and barely graduated mandatory schooling. With very little prospects at home, he joined the fleet as a Jarhead. He sure as shit wasn't going to make it as an officer, so he settled for a standard enlistment of 8 years. It came and went with relatively little excitement; he saw a fair share of scuffles and participated in a dozens of combat drops, but most of it was spent learning.
He quickly learned that he was a jack-of-all trades and master of none. But as a Jarhead in a hot LZ, that was a boon. He'd seen his fair share of privileged snot-nosed, fresh-out-of-the-academy, dickless officers freeze up when things didn't go "by the book" - which they rarely did. Improvising, adapting, and overcoming was something that came naturally to Hud. When his first enlistment was up, it was a no-brainer to sign up for a second. The pay was fine, the chow was shit, but he got to travel and see things his family could have never imagined. He got to excel at his mastery-of-none. Now, with his second enlistment close to its end, he has a lot of decisions to make.
Luckily, there was one last assignment that would allow him to think on it...
