AppearanceLong, black hair is often pulled back to give an air of confidence beaming from two dazling blue eyes set into chiseled dark, golden skin. Quetzalcoatl is quite handsome by most standards, and knows how to use both his looks and facial responses to get people to see things his way. He wears a practical set of secure clothing, not overly gawdy but definitely not seen as without means. It is the outfit of a humble entrepreneur. A passion for programming (and really hacking) means that he always has a good toolkit, line shunts, and dataslab on hand... as well as a compact laser pistol if a deal turns south, which they rarely do for the smooth talking trader.
Personality"Ketz" as he is known to those close to him is serious when it comes to business, easy going when it comes to friends, and never forgetful when it comes to debts and enemies. He is gregarious as a result of his upbrining as a noble's son; he knew the ins and outs of wheeling and dealing, diplomacy, and courtly intrigue before puberty. It has served him extremely well as a free lance trader ever since leaving home - much to the chagrin of his noble family. He always tries to talk first and hopefully not do any shooting. He is no fool though, and when it comes to shooting, he typically has others nearby who are much better at it than he is. While he doesn't relish using people to meet his goals, he is definitely not above it. How else can someone rise to the top of any planetary system otherwise?
His penchant for the pursuit and acquisition of knowledge, in addition to the acquisition of mutual partnerships and riches, tends to get him into trouble. Oh well. He knows that he can typically talk his way out of it.
BackgroundQuetzalcoatl and his people come from the planet Cemanahuac, which is a reference in their native tongue of Nahuatl to the fact that the main land mass is surrounded by water on both sides. The name literally means "surrounded by water"; it was a highly structured planet, with a vast imperial system, one in which he was born into. Ketz's family history is something he is both proud and ashamed of. Nobles on Cemanahuac tend to look down on those of lower social classes, something Ketz always inwardly cringed at growing up. At the same time, being of noble blood meant being blessed by the Gods themselves. It was a duality that he couldn't quite come to terms with. Even still, he learned everything he could. He took easily to language acquisition, becoming something of a polymath. And because he was no introvert, he excelled in speaking with and to people, hearing their stories and earning their trust. He understood the intricacies of diplomacy as well as trade. As a hobby he learned the ins and outs of electronics and software, as well as medicine and shooting. It was no surprise that he was being groomed by his family for great things.
What was a huge surprise was when he suddenly departed without a return date on his 28th birthday. His wanderlust finally getting the better of him, Ketz took to the stars without a plan of returning home. He was convinced his father would rally his considerable resources to find him, but he always managed to stay one (or two) step(s) ahead. And so, five years later, he finds himself on the planet Haistro.
Planets with politics like Haistro were exactly where Ketz thrived. The Cold-War esque atmosphere always meant there was trade, and money, to be had. While he always attempted to use his skills for the betterment of people in general, the trade of arms kept food on his table. Such it was that he found himself wheeling-and-dealing with the Oak and Sabre faction - direct rivals of the Sisterhood of the Eternal Flame. When war did break out, he felt comfort that he backed the least horrific faction on the planet, but also realized he made himself an enemy of the powers that be. It is here that Ketz meets the rest of the crew in an attempt to set up an arms deal and - hopefully - secure himself a boat off planet.
