Chapter 6 - War Eternal - OOC

Well, first things first. What do I see? How many targets? How bunched together? Do I see any silhouettes of weapon capabilities?

What we are dealing with will determine the action.

You see 2 hazy figures, They are 3 meters apart, 25 meters away.
One arm ends in a bulky silhouette. Both enemies carry the same weapon whatever it may be.

In the armor they are just shorter than a typical battle brother by about 6 inches. So its 100% a battle suit of some variant.

OOC: There's still time to silently merc these fools; Full run (30m) to close into melee with one of them. Free action pull combat blade.
- As I am going first, Lucius will call out their positions, using himself to mark them for the others by closing to melee. Hoping this will make the awareness test at least somewhat easier for the others, as Lucius will literally be on the targets.

IC: Lucius saw them immediately. Violence of action was their ally now and he would use his unrestricted speed, strength, surprise, and aggression to achieve total dominance against the enemy. "Two enemy - cloaked. Engaging - get eyes on them." He charged forward, much faster than either enemy could have imagined the extremely well armored Astartes to move. His combat blade materialized in his right hand, and he was determined to push it into the helmet of this alien filth.

Not one to usually be slow to react, Hydrako took off after Lucius. His senses hadn't been able to pick up the enemies that the Nova Marine had seen, but Lucius' charge had spotted them for him anyway. Recognizing the need for silence, he drew his power sword in his left hand. Confirmed, moving to engage he whispered in reply.

Same one that Lucius charged since you cant see the other? Stack those bonuses?

And now its on Serephan.

Any words from the other group? Any change in tactics? moving faster/slower?

IC: Serephan heard his battle brothers over the vox and did much the same.

He did his best to hurry along with the others, but it didn't work out quite as he had planned.

It's still a fail, but don't forget about the +10 for unnatural trait on unopposed tests.

Just confirming here - Cassiel isn't going to make a major change to the plan (launch the attack earlier than planned) because we ran into some unexpected opposition. If Sapiens has blocked VOX chatter, the sentries won't be able to report - if they're eliminated quietly than we're back to plan.

IC: Lucius saw the xenos shimmer away, desperately trying to gain distance and he lunged a blade that was as long as the Tau's thigh.

Hydrako watched Lucius lash out at the shimmering field, but he was still unable to see it properly. With both of them bearing down on the same target, they would be able to work it into a position where they had the upper hand in close quarters. He lashed out with the powersword, hoping he had read its movement properly, but when the blade failed to bite he knew he had missed. A moment later he heard the discharge of the enemy's weapon, but was able to twist out of the way through pure instinct.

POINTS OF ORDER: Lucius has his combat blade out - not chainsword. This was to minimize noise and get a quick kill. Since this thing fired, that doesn't really matter now.

You say Lucius was hit - do I need to evade? The IC doesn't make it seem like he was.

New plan - Lucius will charge and initiate grapple with whomever is in charge range and use them as a "human" shield. If Hydrako sticks to Lucius, it'll force the other one to fire into melee and potentially harm their shy-boi-partner.

As Lucius lunged at the xenos in front of them, Hydrako let his instincts take over. He couldn't see through the cloaking field, but he could smell the fear coming from it. His powersword flashed through the air in a blur and the field crackled as it struck armour. While finishing his strike, Hydrako was drawing his storm bolter and training it on the newly arrived drone up in the trees. For now, he ignored the other cloaked xenos

So what happens, the drone is a spotter drone for the base defenses. Youve been targeted and have failed to stop the drone. You are hit by accurate railgun fire.
A dodge test against blast allows you to move ag bonus in meters. Its not enough here so there is no point in a dodge test. You will, however gain an extra 5 armor from the forest:
That brings your damage to 6 wounds after all is said and done.

Last stealth suit wil jump back half move and fire at Lucius/Hydrako again, splitting fore evenly and starting with Hydrako.

Hydrako watched the rail fire rain down on Seraphan. The drone's lack of action made him think it had to be a spotter of some kind, calling in fire from the defence systems of the firebase. He trusted the Blood Angel to finish the sentry quickly on his own. He barrelled through the undergrowth after Lucius where he was finally able to see the shimmer of the cloaking field, like a ripple of water. He crashed bodily into the xenos, knocking it back half a step before sweeping down with the powersword in an overhead chop. Again, he felt the light resistance of matter being parted by the arcing field and knew there would be Tau flesh underneath.

That will kill him.
All thats left is the spotter drone.

No, he knew this time would be different. The Blood Angel leaps at the drone with an earnest strike from his weapon. It connects, and he can't help but smile underneath his helmet. His eyes blurred red for a moment, but he shook it away. The drone was down, but the fight wasn't over quite yet.

You will move at 1/2 speed, still in the jungle by 1m, but Im not going to fuss over that. You still get the -20 and cover bonus ect. No test for the next round either.

I figure trying to move unseen across the open ground is too hard unless Grimnir does so by inching a small amount at a time using his super stealthy skills, so high speed seems more sensible.

Grimnir cared nothing nor knew about Cassiel previously leading the kill team and that that might have given him seniority here. "We should attack now while the Tau are engaged. If some of you are going to shoot from the tree line I will at least get closer first."

Not waiting for a reply and shaking his head at the lack of leadership amongst Draco 'second' group Grimnir pulls up the hood of his camo cloak and breaks the treeline, sprinting for the Tau shield wall. Grimnir powered forward at an incredible speed, with a bionic heart & lungs and his astartes physique the acceleration to top speed was almost instant. He ran low and kept an eye out for any bits of cover, even small depressions in the ground might help if needed.

He smiled and gnashed his teeth as he ran. This was the life. The wind in my hair and xeno to kill...

forgot to mention the drones do not suffer the -30 cause their attention does is not to the south. Doesn't matter as they will not get to act this round anyway cause they failed.

He moves with haste, doing his best to keep up with the others.

I had to double check the CRB, and it's right in that unless it's been updated. But, I think Lucius' run speed is wrong. It should be 6 times your AB
