| - 25 Questions WIP:
1. The blood or the precedence: The patriarch Parvus Filianatis has been consumed by two things: finding those of Filianatis blood who are not cursed, and finding those allies with the skills to help them. Are you one of the last of the Blood, from branched family, bastard couplings or rare occurrence who have the innate power that comes with it? Or are you one of Precedence, those individuals of rare and exotic skill that no-one can deny?
Bastard spawn from a dalliance of a Filianatis noble and my mother a hive bar worker. I am blood.
2. The path: All men walk a path to bring glory to humanity; all men walk a path to find the light of the emperor. What path do you tread? (In-game “character class”)
Adventurer
3. The cradle: What type of world where you raised on? How does it mold its people? (As homeworld; please include a description of the world and choose the subsector the world is found)
Xanatan Sub-sector. Jadre Prime, Hive World. It is a typical hive world, the masses toil and sweat in the factories while the nobles play and plot. I know little of either brought up as I was in the middle hive. My days were spent in the Tauromaquia arena's, the matadors my hero's. The fights one of the main form of entertainment watched by all walks of life in the hive. I would practice my sword work with a stick trying to emulate the matador's, a skill I have taken into adulthood.
4. The birthright: From birth to death, most Imperial citizens follow an immovable path towards their fate. However, some rare few are able to rise beyond their beginnings, however humble. What state have you risen from? What wretched or vaunted places did you tread as a child?
Scavenger. Despite my absent father providing for my mother, setting her up in a well to-do hive house in the middle hive. Due to boredom I gravitated downwards, falling in with gamblers and scoundrels spending far too much time in bars for one so young.
5. The lure of the void: It is a continuing, strange miracle of human nature that from the downtrodden, planet-bound masses arise adventurous, ambitious, and sometimes twisted or rebellious souls who seek more, or have it thrust upon them by uncaring fate. It is these men and women who through endeavor, fortune, or the turning of great events strike off from their home world and set foot on a greater stage. What brought you to this stage?
Fearing my life style would eventually lead to no good my mother persuaded my father to take me into the family business. I found myself working aboard The Iron Law my fathers ship. My heritage kept secret.
6. Trials and travails: Individuals such as yourself are not simply the product of their background and training, but also of those experiences they have endured, experiences that have forged them into what they are where others around them were broken and destroyed. What tried to break you that you overcame? What has truly challenged you?
New blood. I guess I was lucky. Having risen far, having learnt much about commerce, command and the running of a ship my father arranged for me to taken a vacant position of first officer aboard a mercantile vessel of the family. My father was not lucky, barely a year had passed since I left the ship to prove myself when he died with the destruction of The Iron Law caught up in the ‘curse’. With the death of my father my secret unraveled as my father’s affairs were wrapped up his and my secret was discovered by the Filianatis patriarch. So I have been brought into the family’s fold lucky that the Patriarch will take any blood, even a bastards. Some are not happy at my inclusion. I suspect I have enemies within the family, particularly my fathers wife. although I am protected to a degree by the patriarch due to the desperate situation the family finds itself in.
7. Motivation: Whether motivated by burning ambition, greed, or vengeance, there is always a compelling reason that someone leaves his home world behind and ventures forth into the unknown. What drives you? What pushes you forward through every day?
Endurance. Working the ship’s and now being part of a noble family with great tradition is a big step up from my previous hive life. I will make the most of it and take every advantage I can, the patriarch’s goal is now my goal as glory awaits.
8. How you came to walk: What led to the path you now walk? What compelled you to the skill set that now brings you glory?
Circumstance, parentage and a will to grab life by the balls.
9. The even more specific path: For each career, there are a number of paths they may cross. What organisations or groups have you worked for in the past? (A few examples in the table; though if you think of any I haven’t mentioned, do not hesitate to put it in your sheet)
Mercantile
10. Religious leanings: The imperium is a place of strict religious order. Most are raised from birth to worship the emperor; though some such as the astartes honor him as a great man. How religious are you? Are you part of any specific cults? Are you more puritanical in your worship, or do you hold more peculiar beliefs? Do you see the emperor as a deity of a person of great honor?
I observe when I am observed. The church is as corrupt as the next man. In tight spots I might throw a prayer His way.
11. What is your greatest strength and weakness? Strengths are what others see as respectable or admirable in your, while weaknesses are what you would struggle to hide from others, least they look down upon your failures. What do you regard as his strengths and weaknesses, and how does this differ from your actual abilities?
I treat other as I like to be treated with respect (strength), however if others treat me poorly I tend to treat them the same (weakness). With my new position I know I need to reign in my weakness (if I can, but it is impulsive) as I could piss off the wrong person.
I am charming and likable to the common man (I was one not that long ago so I understand their struggles). However I have the opposite problem with the nobility who can often tell I have ‘poor upbringing’
12. How would others describe your appearance?
Handsome. Dashing. Well groomed and dressed. Rough around the edges.
13. Who is the person your character trusts the most in the world? We all have friends and allies. How did you meet them? What position do they have in society?
My mother and my father. They have always looked out for me. However my father is dead and my mother main systems away. I need new friends and allies.
14. What do you think of the political games that infest imperial noble families?
This is new to me and something I need to learn as my life may depend upon it. The fact that it is there is not surprising. People play game/power trips in all walks of life.
15. Are you married? Do you have any children, and if so, how many? If from a high class, are you betrothed?
No I’m not and I would be resistant to an arranged marriage, unless it brought benefits to me and mine. Being a bastard I might be a hard sell.
16. Are you more loyal to yourself, your allies, or to the imperium? Many people are quite selfish, putting their own needs and desires before everyone elses. Some have strong loyalty to their allies, and those who are part of the same organisations as them, or even to the gods they follow. Many are loyal to the “ideal” of the imperium as a beacon of civilization that must be kept lit . Only the loyal are trusted, so who have you given this loyalty?
Me > My mother > My friends/Allies > Filianatis Family > Imperium > Everyone else
17. How would your parents and family describe you? Do you have a proper relationship with your parents or are you estranged? Was your upbringing a source of joy or dismay for your parents? Are they still alive, or were they taken from you at a younger age?
As far as I know my mother still lives on Jadre Prime. My father died during the destruction of The Iron Law. I am a constant joy and irritation to my mother, although she would not tell you about the latter. My father was proud of me for how far I have come.
18. How do interact with your social/hierarchical superiors? How about your inferiors? Cultural expectations vary wildly. Most in the imperium tend to be deferential to their superiors. Those of power can vary wildly however, with many respecting only the competent and treating the others with disdain. Treatment of inferiors (who can do little to oppose you) varies quite a lot depending on your personality. How do you treat your inferiors & superiors?
I treat others as I like to be treated, with respect. However if others treat me poorly I tend to treat them the same.
19. Who opposes you most? Who is your greatest foe? As power comes to you, so come those who wish you harm.
My fathers wife and her side of the family. There may be others within the Filianatis Family that wish me harm that I am not aware of.
20. What does your character think of the power of the warp? Despite the critical need of Navigators & Astropaths to keep the imperium running, most react to these powers with fear and disdain. Some of the more educated (and possibly heretical) sees it as the only way to keep the imperium safe. Most simply avoid them, unsure about their ability to properly cope.
The warp is dangerous, I fear it. This is due to the teachings of the Imperium but also through first hand experience. Having spent my adult life travelling the stars I have seen first hand the dangerous that accompany warp travel. Those gifted with such powers to serve. I respect. They are vital for long distance warp travel. I would be a poor officer if I treated them poorly.
21. What does your character think of xenos? As one who goes beyond the borders of the imperium, you will be faced with xenos. A great many believe that death is the only just fate for the alien. Others wish to steal their secrets & power, practicing the cold trade. Some believe an equilibrium can be reached, avoiding conflict with those willing to do so, and crushing those who are a clear and present danger.
Xeno are not to be trusted. Some are outright dangerous and should be killed or avoided. Other's can be traded with for profit. This is what my father taught me. I have not met an alien, yet.
22. What does your character think of heretics? Heretics have haunted the imperium since the fall of Horus. Some say they may yet be redeemed; but most believe that cleansing fire is too good for them.
Those that follow gods who's names I do not know should accept the cleansing fire and be grateful.
23. How does your character react to archeotech? In the halo zone, far from the chaos of the eye of terror, many of humanity’s greatest technological works lie. Some of those are so far beyond mortal knowledge that they seem like magic. When faced with such wonders, what guides you: fear, fascination… or something darker?
It sounds fascinating. There is much profit to be made from such things
24. Do you believe the patriarch and his belief in a curse? While Parvus is convinced that the family is cursed, it is easy to understand how some may believe him mad. Yet doom has consistently followed the Filianatis dynasty for the last two centuries. Do you believe it mere coincidence? Conspiracy? Or is something greater haunting the bloodline?
I believe the family is just unlucky. That is not so unbelievable considering how far they had risen before the ‘dark times’. Seb is new so he’ll tow the party line. If the Patriarch believes in a curse that’s fine by Seb.
25. A train races down a track, with a fork coming up. On one side, a Xenos; on the other, a Heretic. In front of you lies a lever that will direct the train to one or the other, and you are too distant to alter the situation to kill both. Which do you kill?
I kill the heretic. The heretic subverts from within, he is a betrayer. Humanity would be so much stronger without internal strife that we may better deal with what is without.

It's not on my RT list so need to look up what that might cost with aptitudes right?

Thinking about it I'd quiet like to take Trade - Voidfarer as it fits with my background. It's not on my RT list so need to look up what that might cost with aptitudes right? Yes for the aptitudes. Also, you should have 4900 XP spent total (4500 base, 500 to spend at character creation) Finally, you are missing your single special item selection, with an acquisition bonus of +0. You can also have any number of items of common availability & common craft.

| I'm still considering my equipment choices although I have included a few common bits already.
I will however get my 25Q's finished tomorrow (thats the plan anyway). I'd consider myself good to go in a few days.

| For my +0 bit of equipment, I'd like to go off piste.
Advanced helmet systems gives various bonuses (its Very Rare), but I'd like to change it a little. My storm trooper carapace which was gifted to me by my father, can I combine it with the helmet and change it so that it gives...
Sealed environment with a GQ photo visor? It would have an oxygen supply to match that of a void suit?

| I'll allow you to exchange your Stormy carapace & your helmet systems for a Pressure Carapace (Hostile acquisitions p.62) with advanced helmet systems. Essentially, a stormtrooper voidsuit. | |

| It's a back up weapon. You don't shoot a plasma pistol when you're near the hull, right. Or in similar situations. | |

| Might I recommend upgrading the pistol to Good craftsmanship, and maybe grab a silencer as well, so that it becomes a stealth weapon? I believe both should be automatically available at our availability level. | |

No problem. You'll probably want to look into specialist ammo for it eventually, there is quite the selection for solid projectile weapons.

| I think Alexium and San-Sebastian (Roderick as well) would get along well. While Alexium and San-Sebastian don't have a linked background (yet at least), your PC's penchant for exploring the lower hives and getting into trouble could work well with my PC's penchant for mischief and being something of an alcoholic/party animal when the situation arises. Indeed, they both even have it in their hearts to ensure the success of the Filianatus family and dynasty. Even their loyalty hierarchies line up; I think they would understand one another well, but I don't want to force it.
What do you think? | |

What do you think? Sorry, been meaning to reply to this for a while. Yeah I think they've got a good chance of friendship. San-Sebastian does have a bit of a wild streak although he does suppress it a fair bit as he doesn't want to loose his chance at the high life.
