This enables every Tau to follow orders without hesitation or doubt. Once per encounter, a Tau Explorer may gain a +10 bonus to a Test made while directly following an order from another Tau character. Additionally, if this order places the Explorer into substantial danger to benefit the group as a whole, this bonus increases to +30 (GM’s discretion). -Lessened senses (sight): While Tau olfactory senses are superior to humans, they have a harder time focusing on objects at long distances. They make up for this deficiency with their technological innovations such as advanced optics and headgear. After 100 meters, any Tau character relying on their eyes without aid suffers a -10 penalty on all perception-based tests, including ballistic skill. -Non Imperial: This character was not raised among humans, and knows little about the culture and history of the Imperium. The laws, traditions, religion, and superstitions of Mankind are unfamiliar and alien to characters with this trait. The character suffers a –10 penalty on all Common Lore, Forbidden Lore, and Scholastic Lore Tests relating to the Imperium of Man.

All T'au contribute to the Greater Good, but from a young age Ril'arn hoped that his contribution would be truly magnificent. He had dreams of glory that some might call unbecoming of a simple Shas'La, but it certainly motivated him in his training. His skill and determination impressed his commanders and was immediately assigned to a pathfinder squad on the front lines. He served admirably in his posting, dreaming every day of eventually being chosen to pilot an XV25 suit, or maybe even one of the experimental XV22s. After a short time he received his first promotion, to Shas'ui and leader of a pathfinder team.
When he was assigned a mission to help seize a crucial mountain pass held by humans, he saw it as a true chance for glory. His team was to disable key fortifications while a hunter cadre awaited Ril'arn's signal to attack. However, all was not as planned. A great number of human reinforcements had arrived, complicating the insertion. He was advised by team members to turn back, but instead pressed on, seeing this as a chance to kill more foes of the Greater Good, and maybe earn distinction for it. His team planted their demolition charges as planned and detonated them. Ril'arn gave the signal for the hunter cadre to commence its assault. The result was a bloodbath. Ril'arn had underestimated the human's reinforced strength, and the cadre was shattered against their entrenchments. Heavy losses were suffered in the retreat, including nearly all of Ril'arn's team. Blaming Ril'arn for this devastating defeat, the Tau commander took the rare step of stripping him of his rank as Shas'ui. He was removed from the front lines and dispatched instead to help survey a new colony.

Personality: Though he does feel immense guilt for his decision that cost so many lives, Ril'arn is still as ambitious as ever. While he initially despised his new posting, he has come to see it as another opportunity to gain glory. Perhaps he will make a grand discovery or save the colony from a terrible threat. Whatever the case, Ril'arn is determined not to repeat the mistakes he made in the past. He has resolved to listen to members of his team, and not act so rashly, though this is often counter to his instincts.
Goals, Short Term: -Prove his worth to his new team.
Goals, long-term: -Regain the respect of his superiors -Pilot an XV25

| 1) I should have mentioned, we all use Orokos.com to roll as it allows a record-keeping of the games and player. How did you roll your characteristic stats? If you have a link to a site, please copy and paste it here. 2) You can go ahead and get rid of your weapons "clip"/capacity. I have ported the Wrath and Glory reload rules, since I personally think tracking ammo is tedious. You will instead start with "Reloads x3." 1) Add the "Spotter" bonus trait from Pathfinder to your PC sheet.
2) Other than that, everything looks fine so far.
3) XP: Start with 2,800 XP to spend. This will be slightly less than the other PCs - nothing ground breaking. Please put your XP buys as a comment so I can approve them before adding them to your PC sheet. I also would like your XP to look like this: XP: 2,900/0 (available/spent, for reference)
As you spend, the number on the left should drop while the number on the right rises and both should add up to your total XP - in this case, 2,900.

| All right, let's see how this is looking (again, sorry for the delay!):

Your XP purchases look great! Please add them to your PC sheet whenever you get the chance.
I'm assuming ambition and pride are character flaws? If so, to really play into it you might consider spending some XP on command and air of authority to see some mechanical reflections of that. Of course, I'm sure the pride thing is going to come through via dialogue and hopefully get you into some sticky situations.
Backstory is great and fitting. If you want to find some artwork or a picture to add to the template to let the others see how you visualize Ri'larn, feel free. If not, maybe some detail in describing how he physically looks/his gear/etc.
Keep adding to your goals as the game goes on. They should evolve to become more and more specific. I do give out rewards for goal completion.
Other than that, you're good to go! | |
