BackgroundDanzig 'Ziggy' Eckhardt was, until several months ago, a successful fighter pilot working as a freelancer within the infamous 'Blue Hornets' fighter squadron; composed of mercenary fighter pilots from across the quadrant and known for it's flashy and exuberant style in battle-not to mention the personalities of the squad!
Celebrating with his teammates after a recent successful foray as part of a contract with the Montague Alliance, Ziggy and his squad-mates ran afoul of a somewhat embittered fleet commander in a gambling hall. Admiral D'anel Farven did not take kindly to Danzig's 'constructive criticism' about the training of his flight officers. Ziggy's comments about the admiral's daughter Talissa (
"Mercing it up! Twerking it up! C'mon baby!!") went down even less well. After mounting up substantial gambling debts, the Admiral (also part-owner of the establishment) saw to it that Ziggy lost his commission with the Montague Alliance and, his precious ship, The Lightning Viper, was accepted as a down-payment.
Now down on his luck, and with debtors starting to beat his heels, Ziggy decided to throw in with a group of freebooters secretly hoping he might find his way back to glory and his former unit again.
