Bio:Iovanus Dror was among the last wave of Terran recruits inducted into the Luna Wolves before their Primarch, Horus Lupercal, joined their number. He grew up on the Primarch's stories of his childhood, and was privileged to see him fight on more than one occasion. The Great Crusade was a momentous thing indeed, even for a power as great as the fledgling Imperium of Man. With Horus, the Emperor, and the other Legions and their Primarchs, the Legiones Astartes were unstoppable, and Iovanus felt as much. He was a naturally aggressive member of the Luna Wolves, and felt right at home with their way of war, surrounding and harrying the foe until moving in for a killing strike. Skilled with both bolter and blade, Iovanus struck down xenos and non-compliant alike, his senses and skills carrying him from one battle to the next.
It was during a routine compliance action, enforcing the Emperor's will upon a once-lost human colony that the detachment of Luna Wolves in attendance were suddenly attacked by the insidious Eldar. Caught completely by surprise, the Luna Wolves began to fall in great numbers, and among the dead was Iovanus' long-time brother-in-arms, Hektor Eres, who had been with him since initiation. Filled with a desire for vengeance, Iovanus set his bolter upon the knife-eared xenos, and opened fire with extreme prejudice. As part of the detachment's coordinated fire, Iovanus cut down many Eldar who thought themselves safe from the Luna Wolves' ferocity--this surprise would only be repeated mere hours later as Iovanus and the others took up their chainswords and turned the tables on the Eldar, making the hunters the hunted. Although the Eldar were not completely eradicated, the Luna Wolves saved the planet and ensured its compliance for the remainder of the Great Crusade.
Towards the end of the Great Crusade, Iovanus once again encountered the Eldar, and immediately desired the same vengeance he had enacted upon them during the earlier compliance years before. As fate would have it, a detachment was formed to head into the then-unmapped Halo Zone, and destroy the Eldar at (what was believed to be) their source. Tracking the fleeing Eldar scout ships to a dead world, designated Four-Alpha-Zero, the detachment's Praetor, Isador Kerys, ordered the Wolves to expand outwards into the dark mountains of the dead world, and eliminate the Eldar wherever they were found. Iovanus' Veteran Tactical Squad was one of the first to head into the mountains as part of a multi-front offensive, and it wasn't long before they encountered a number of the Eldar's bizarre Aspect Warriors, some of which the Luna Wolves were completely unfamiliar with.
The last thing Iovanus remembered was emptying his bolter into an encroaching rank of sword-wielding Eldar, screaming at an inhuman pitch, while surrounded by an unknown blue energy. Then all went black.
Appearance:Iovanus was not one of the 'lucky' few to be gifted with the cosmetics of their gene-father, and instead bore a rough face with dark, black hair. Although occasionally prone to heightened aggression during particularly vicious combat, Iovanus was a quiet, taciturn individual, trusting in his skills and instincts to keep him alive and carry the Emperor's will across the galaxy. Some joked that he could stand to smile more, but none in his squad, from his first days as a neophyte to his days in a Veteran Tactical Squad, could deny his effectiveness in combat. His armour was the same gleaming white as the rest of his esteemed legion, and he proudly wore the heraldry of the legion, the wolf's head upon a crescent moon, on his pauldron. Despite the artificers' best attempts to get the stains removed, a small bloodmark remains on Iovanus' armour from when Hektor was eviscerated by the Eldar's monofilament weapons, although Iovanus wears this proudly in memory of his fallen friend.
