We need a house rule on how to detect or divine an items magical properties. It should probably be a spell that is common across users like detect magic or perhaps another use for Magic Awareness.

Anyone any thoughts?

I'd need to look at how spells work again. But there should definitely be a rune for it as well. Something that could be etched into a stone, or wand, or whatever that could be activated and hovered over the magical item in question - the knowledge of what it does then transferred to the Rune Priest.

I think I'm going to make it an extended use of Magical Awareness. The character would concentrate on an item for a minute or so and then make a skill roll. Modifiers will be applied at GMs discretion, so items that are powerful or cursed might be harder to pull the secrets from.

Your idea of a rune to do the same thing is good though. It would be a Talismanic type rune, so something you'd etch onto a ring or amulet. Wands aren't very 'rune smithy'.

Ok, so whats next people? I can move it a long - that could include some actions from yourselves such as reading the journal some more, using magical awareness to try and find out more about the items you've found. Taking part in the nights patrol etc...

Or some of you might have things you want to explore, although its getting late and you've all been on your feet all day.

Oh, man. A ring with that permanently etched on it would be super dope. Sell for big money too, I'm sure. I like that idea a lot.

If no one takes the bait, Reginald is going to try the robe on and see what happens. We probably don't need to set a watch with so many monks on alert. Best bet for us might be safe guarding the box.

Between Serestre and Daemaer you'll work out the ring and robe.

The robe gives +1 AP (counts as magical armour)

You already know the ring is used to command the statue. The magical awareness will tell you that probably just by wearing the ring and then commanding the statue should work. Further reading of the book which you have a little time for will confirm that.

I like the idea of 'goals' used in some of the other games here and would like to implement to help give everyone a bit of direction. Can everyone have a think and get something down over the next week?

Minimum is 1 short or medium term goal and 1 long term goal. You're all more than welcome to add more.

Back to the crypts...

It takes time to remove the barricade so those not doing that have time to chat or whatever... Daemaer was going to tinker with the Statue? Who has the ring?

Those helping at the barricade, once it is removed and the tunnel exposed can give me Land Navigation rolls (-10 for being underground). Reg who has Navigation Underdark can roll at +10.

Hey Alex. In orokos you'd input

1d100-10

In future for my own ease could you also post your target number? In your case the check is untrained (you have not brought the Land Navigation skill) so the skill check is actually at -20.

I'd like Toughness rolls from everyone (+10 modifier because you've not been down there long yet) due to the wet and cold. Failure = -1 fatigue.

Night vision doesn't work down here, its pitch black so it be useful to know which of you carrying light sources - include that in your IC perhaps and also how you cope or not due to the fatigue roll.

Serestre has a PM for her awareness check.

Also I asked about who was using a light source?

Reginald and Victoria have torches and Valgard has a lantern. Also Serestre has a light spell that lasts for 1 hour. As we're out of combat I'll say Serestre can have a free cast of the light spell to aid her in her looking around; you'd normally cast it on an item like your staff (perhaps).

It should be Perception (I have an inkling this has been discussed before).

Tracking is at +30 (+20 because the tracks are recent and in sand and another +10 cos' Serestre is about to point them out (but she lacks the skill to learn more). Does that help?
