CL Metallurgy and Engineering tests incoming - these are mainly to check out the statue and creepy loot box - or anything of metal of note. Also, taking his time to if that adds any bonuses:

Metallurgy and Engineering <44; 55 & 86/no go
http://orokos.com/roll/614321

Awareness <31 just because; rolled 59/no go

You pass on the Metallurgy roll (+20)... The statue appears to be made out of solid iron, while its humanoid it is rudimentary in form and doesn't resemble anything in particular.

Scholastic Lore - Arcane Runes & also Legends is appropriate here. Gimme some rolls.

Well that sucks.

However, there is still a chance to learn something. Take a careful look at the image of the 'box' I posted...

Question, if RAW +0 modifier is "healing a critical wound in the field" is it plausible to get a +10 for healing a non critical wound within a facility... say a monastery? Wink

First aid attempt: 93 vs 42/6 DoF. Reginald is all thumbs. http://orokos.com/roll/622343

EDIT: First aid for Val: 45 vs 42/1 DoF. Success if +10

Yeah we'll use that table and if you turn the page in the DH2 rule book the special applications for First Aid (medicae use) are listed. Obviously we need to apply it to a medieval type setting. The table you're referring to is for critical wounds which nobody has taken yet. You need to use the rules for First Aid on the following page which refers to healing non-critical wounds.

So sorry bro but thats a fail as there is no +10 for your roll. If you had a first aid kit I'd give you a bonus and of course there is always assisting. Serestre will be best at easing your woes without magic.

Dave, do I need to make rolls for my Cure Wounds checks? Or perhaps I should attempt First Aid first.

But in any case, would I need to make Cure Wounds checks if I am not in combat?

If you're referring to your spell 'Cure Wounds' then yes you have to roll. As you're out of combat you have time so could use your Channeling skill (same as invocation in DH2) to get a bonus.

Castings spells carry risks (less so for Clerics, you only get perils on an evens double on the casting roll) so I would have thought if Serestre is risk adverse (unlike Daemaer) you would use First Aid.

Alrighty First Aid test to help out Reginald.

Int 36 + 10 (Talented) + 10 (First Aid Kit) = <56: 70, might have to dip into the Divine Arts.
http://orokos.com/roll/623342

She must be nervous about trying to help him, so she is all thumbs as well. Jeff, I can give the curative arts a go if you want them wounds back.

First Aid for Val
<56: 46, 1 DoS.
http://orokos.com/roll/623343

Should be helping him out a bit at least. 3 Wounds back I think because Int Bonus is 3.

Trade Armorer for the bows. Carn, you said a "couple" rolls so I did three. Let me know if you'd like anymore.

- Skill 42 +20 <62; rolled 23, 82, 31/4 DoS, 2 DoF, 4 DoS. Not too shabby.
http://orokos.com/roll/627494

I am thinking some temporary runes for the team. If I do well enough, maybe one or two for Sam. I'd like to craft some both for striking and for flickering flame. Given how runecraft works, this will take place later in the IC when he has time to work on other people's items.

Having trouble finding modifiers for runes in the book. I assume lower tier runes are easier to attempt than higher tier. I believe tier 1 is +10, 2 is +0, and 3 is -10.

- Runecraft 52 +10 (tier 1) <62; Flickering Flame - rolled 85. No bananas.
- Runecraft <62, Striking - rolled 75. Zero bananas.

Ok, you'll be able to repair 2 of 3 crossbows.

Unlucky on those Runes. You'll get more opportunities so don't fret.

You're correct on the casting modifiers. The casting of spells is covered on page 44. I do not call this out in any of my homebrew but I do not see Runesmiths taking penalties for casting in armour.

I'll add that to the rules and I also need to update a new role... Witch Hunter

Should they take penalties for armor? As far as I understand it, they're just sitting there chanting and chiseling away over a lengthy period of time. Certainly nothing more strenuous than focused casting in the midst of combat.

Although, since most (all?) Runesmithing is done in narrative time, getting in and out of armor shouldn't matter so much.

Oki... the Dispel Magic won't do anything noticeable to the casket.

However Slythe has something to say. Posting for Heath as he's without wifi at work for the next few days.

That would entirely depend on what the scent is you're thinking about? Is it something with a strong lingering smell?

Whatever the modifier might be It feels like a survival (tracking) roll.

Interesting idea. Slythe doesn’t have enhanced smell though, he’s no blood hound.

That’s not a no, it would just be difficult. If you want to explore the box with your nose make a -20 awareness check

Would it be possible that in the time since he first briefly leafed through the journal, Reginald had more time to study it? Maybe before or after dinner/weaponsmithing?

If so, what sort of role would reflect that? I assume it will be the same for Daemaer now that he is looking through it?

There isn't a research skill, so just roll on Int at +20, sound ok?

A failure will still get you some stuff, the roll will determine any other juicy bits you pick up in the limited time remaining in the evening, assuming you're going to sleep etc... reading the journal cover to cover might take a whole day.

Edit: Both Reg and Daemaer can roll. Reginald can also make Scholastic Lore - Legends (+0) as you'll learn the name of this 'box' and so might know some history of it.

Here's what Reginald learns from his initial skim read...

- It’s a journal of de Muscadet, Jean Louis predecessor
- The box is called the Arca Chaotis – this info triggers Reginald’s Legends roll
- De Muscadet was a bit of an adventurer in his day and acquired the box when the group he was with attacked some skaven
- De Muscadet hasn’t been able to open it through force or otherwise.
- The Arca Chaotis is a powerful magical item of the Skaven
- De Muscadet hasn’t been able to find out much else, so its kept as a curiosity out of harms way

Daemaer can find out more with a successful roll and/or more time can be spent reading it the following day.

I'll PM about Reginalds passed SL- Legend roll

Jeff, are you also wanting to speak to the Padre?
