Zar had taken less than ten seconds to reach the Tau commander his power armoured boots pounding the deck as he steamrolled in. It felt like an age as he had closed the gap, the battle had ebbed and flowed around him, his servitors lay in ruin but so did the Tau, their alien blood mixing with the servitors oily black vital fluids.

At last the Wretches had responded, so he might not kill all of them now. Just some. Khorne, Crimson and he were thirsty after all.

Zar snarled in fury at the alien when he was finally upon him, Crimson claws going about their deadly work as he attempted to tear the Tau apart… He often thought little in the chaos of melee so caught up with rage and the smells of blood and vaults but power armour made it feel different, he almost felt cocooned against it sounds and smells of war, he was not sure he liked it.

The Tau didn't stand a chance against the assault of Zar and the Murder Servitors. Zar tore into the commander like a beat enraged. His final swing unhooking the xenos' head from its shoulders. The Muder Servitors mopped up the remaining fire warriors with ease.

The remaining Tau forces fired in anger into the hold killing swathes of wretches but without infantry they couldn't hold on to any ground. So they performed a fighting retreat taking any wretches with them.

The battle was over with Zar the victor.

"Enjoyable. Would of been better if they put up a better fight." Crimson comments.

Zar takes stock of his forces. There were still a good number of wretches but they weren't the endless horde of bodies like before. The Servitors... well it was a handful. Two Battle Servitors and six Murder Servitors.

[600 XP for a smartly fought fight.]

With the battle won Zar removes the Tau commanders helmet so he can gaze upon the aliens face, old prejudices came to the surface ingrained into him by the imperium as grunts in disgust at its blue skin and over big eyes. With a quick motion Zar hefts his axe and removes it head in a single strike. The Tau was a weakling, an unworthy foe so Zar would not carry its head, but it would certainly add to the tally.

He was aware of the wretches gathering nervously about him but he ignored them for a moment and looked about the glorious carnage of the battlefield. He needed to make plans. He didn’t like the prospect of being marooned on this ship. He also considered where he was, a Rogue Trader ship was well travelled so there was a chance even if it was slim of records of the Vault of Ry'Kleth.

Time to see if the wretches were of any use to him. Removing his helm Zar lets out a snort sending billows of smoke out of his flared nostrils, his glowing furnace yellow eyes sweep across the wretches causing some to faint and most of the throng to take a step back. Zar sneered at their weakness.

“Listen up. You will fight for me and if you can’t fight you better have some other use. I will carry no baggage.” Zar hoped that their would be someone learned in tech, perhaps a medic or someone he could trust some responsibility too. Looking at the pitiful crew he didn’t hold out much hope “Is there any bridge crew amongst you, tech adepts or medics?” he paused a moment for a reply but there were many downcast looks so as to not meet his gaze, while others shook their heads. “Is there anyone with the balls enough to step forward and speak to me as a man at least, someone with a bit of wit? There are things I wish to know. Are there other inhabitants on this ship? Is there someone who could delve into the Captains logs or knows and can read his star charts? Is there anyway of this ship?”

Zar patience is thin but he but he holds in his aggression for now, he needed to know the lay of the land and what his options were.

After he is done questioning them Zar will return to the Rogue Traders quarters and will make a thorough search the rooms.

Zar leans a few things questioning the wretches. Firstly, they referred to themselves as Castaways. Second, they're not the original crew. Those of this ship left or died long ago. Zar remembered the remains he found when he was traveling down the ship. Thirdly, there is a way off the ship. It was by boat. They don't recommend it though.

Additionally Zar learned Alekzander came aboard quite a while ago. The Castaways thought of him as a savior at first but quickly learned he was nothing more then a slave driver. There's some mentions he was looking for something on Furia.

So in all Zar learned the beings were not the old crew and did not have the skills he seeks. He could get off the ship by boat and that was it.

Zar rips apart the captains quarters and finds a few things of interest. Alekzander did have notes on the Vault of Ry'Kleth. The Rogue Trader had discovered that there wasn't a singular vault but multiple ones. He had discovered one was on Furia. He seemed to have narrowed down a part of the ocean where he believed it was before Zar showed up.

"The Vault might have a way off this planet among other things of interest." Crimson comments.

Zar finds star charts but they're all for Imperial space.

"Those are useless out here in the Vortex." Crimson says.

There was only one course of action, to set sail for the co-ordinates he hoped would take him to the vault. Anything else was cowardice in his mind, he would not fester on this ship. He gave no mind to the sea monsters that dwelled beneath the waves, if he died, so be it.

A sacrifice of those too weak or cowardly to make the voyage would be appropriate though. Perhaps if he could sate Lord Khornes bloodlust for but a moment he might have a chance on the waves. He chuckled a deep bass while smoke billowed from his nostrils at his mirth, Khorne would never be sated.

He gathered the wretches once more, they called themselves the outcasts but until they proved their worth ‘wretches’ was more fitting. “Listen to me and obey. Prepare the boats for a voyage, we seek glory on the waves in Khornes name for there are treasures to be found. I want the best fighters, fishermen and crew, everyone else will remain here. Go prepare, we leave at dawn.”

With that done Zar worked the battlefield, removing heads from the fallen and piling them high, Tau and wretches alike. It seemed fitting and would serve as a centre piece for the butchering he planned to christening his voyage. With that done he spent the rest of that day selecting his crew from the outcasts, he took the strongest and any who didn’t shrink overly from his blessed visage.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

At sun up Zar demanded all the wretches who were not leaving on the voyage were present to see them off, a pile of over 200 skulls were heaped high to greet them. Once satisfied everyone was gathered he stepped forward and turned to address his crew, so his back was to the weaklings who would remain behind.

“You who I have chosen have a chance of glory, to step away from your dreary existence. You have showed some bravery and strength, Khorne expects such things.”
Zar barks out his words, his furnace eyes taking on an intense look as the time of the slaughter grows closer. “We will begin our journey by seeking the blood gods blessing. There is only one way to do that. Take up your arms, we will slaughter the weak that remain behind.” Zar turns to regard the ‘sacrifices’, he scrapes Crimsons claws together the only weapons he would use for such a task “Blood for the blood god!” he savagely yells. With that Zar charges into the wretches and begins the butcher, as he runs in he calls in the remaining servitors…

It would hardly be a fight for Zar, his followers, and the remaining servitors. It was more of a slaughter as blood coated the entire hold. It got to the point where footing was becoming bad do to the blood that drenched the floor. However, as quickly as it began it was over. 100 new skulls joined the pile of 200. It was quite a monument to Khorne.

Crimson rumbled in glee, "Khorne has noticed you servant. The tides of the warp show that."

[+10 Infamy, +10 Corruption. Remaining crew are now mortal followers of Khorne.]

Zar did not stay for long to enjoy his massacre for he and his followers were to set out for the vault. They piled into the boats and set sail.

Through the blessings of Khorne nothing happened on the week long trip to the location marked on the map. No attacks by raiders nor any sight of the Leviathans.

Arriving in the area Zar spots something sparkling in the light just above the waves. It's a pyramid the size of a small boat.

[Zar has a small fleet of 10 boats with him.]

A week was a long time for a follower of Khorne to not draw blood and even more so for the Crimson Servant, influenced and driven by the daemon weapon that was now infused with his body. During the voyage Zar demanded that his followers spar with edged weapons, there were casualties, some caused by Zar himself. It served to cull the weak.

Zar was not sure what he'd expected as they arrived at the location, it certainly wasn't a floating pyramid. He'd envisioned diving into the waters to search out a sunken tomb.

The ships are ordered into a circling motion slowly tightening on the pyramid to gradually bring it closer to get a better view. He eye's the pyramid with suspicion for a while suspecting sorcery.

"Well demon, we are here it appears. What now?"
Zar queries.

"Your guess is as good as mine." Crimson responds.

As the ships get closer the water below them starts to vibrate. The pyramid they were closing in on is rising out of the water. Zar can now see its more of a monolith as the body rises from beneath the waves. As the monolith rises a small building connected to it rises up as well. It has a boat landing with a pair of staircases that lead to a set of large twin doors.

Before Zar can issue any orders one of his boats goes up in a explosion. He looks out across the water but doesn't see anything.

A lookout then calls out, "Xenos!"

Zar follows his pointing finger to the group of Tau coming after them [1 Sky Ray, 2 Hammerheads, 2 Devilfish with 2 Crisis Suits riding on top of them for a total of 4.]. Seems the Tau had tracked them and wanted some revenge.

[Tau will be within range to launch an assault in 2 rounds. The hammerheads and Sky Ray are within range to shoot at boats.]

Zar had hoped something would happen as they got closer to the pyramid and he wasn’t disappointed, it was a relief as his band were poorly equipped to deal technological or otherwise conundrums.

As one of his ships was torn apart by an explosion Zar ran to starboard and gripped the rail in eager anticipation of a fight, it had been a boring trip. He was a little disappointed at what he saw, the Tau hover tanks out ranged and would out manoeuvre his boats, he never despaired but for a moment he was at a loss of what to do other than to try and take as many xeno with him before a watery grave welcomed him. His gaze then rested on the monolith.

“Make for the landing, we draw them inside. Spread the word to the other craft.” He bellows orders to the crew.

It was the one chance they had; get inside the monolith and if the Tau dared to venture in, he would tear them apart. He doubted but hoped they had the guts after he’d taught them a lesson in the last engagement.

Zar's crew double times it the monolith. The other ships try as well but two more get blown to bits.

Zar's ship comes up the landing and everyone, the outcasts, and the servitors, quickly disembark. Good thing too as the ship explodes into wood and plasteel bits.

Zar races up the steps and pushes the massive doors open by himself. Zar is greeted by a massive statue of a human man made out of gold.

Crimson laughs, "That would be Ry'Kleth."

Two other boats are able to dock and offload. The four remaining ships are not so fortunate as Zar watches from the doorway as they get picked off by the railguns and missiles. The last ship is toyed with some barely missed and grazing shots before its finally finished off just as it reaches the landing. The unloaded ships are also destroyed leaving no way to leave.

The Tau start to come about trying to get an eye on the door way. Zar orders his men to close it and they do.

The Tau then try to pound the door open with their weaponry but for some reason the doors do not crumble to the onslaught of heavy weaponry.

++++

Zar waited for hours. The Tau were not coming. They must of learned their lesson when engaging a follower of Khorne in close combat.

So Zar sits in a large artrium inside of the monolith. A large statue of Ry'Kleth all in gold dominates the middle. At the base of the statue there is an elevator shaft door. All around the edge of the atrium are paintings of Ry'Kleth during his years of plunder and pirating.

Crimson explained some of them to Zar. The razing of Hershel V, capture of the Eldar corsair ship Wailing Scythe, and sacking an armory on the forge world of Donath.

Zar listened to the history of Ry'Kleth with passing interest focused as he was on the entrance to the pyramid, willing the Tau to enter. He had arrayed his men and servitors in a defensive formation although as time passed he realised with disappointment the xeno weren't coming.

Is was time to try the elevator. He was no coward and while he wasn't bright he wasn't entirely stupid, surely the entire way to the vault wouldn't prove as easy to get to as entering the main doors. The way might be locked, or even trapped. Zar would not die to a trap, if and when that happened he planned for it to be on the battlefield.

"You" Zar turns to the nearest warrior "Call the elevator."
