Ruaidhri]

"Yeah, she got some mad skills in fixin' people up. Bit of a greaser too. Could be hiding out doin' work in a clinic or trying to get on as a mechanic near the docks."

Petra's smile turned into a chuckle. "Yeah, sure thing, half-pint. You get me my girl, I'll toss in a writing-skull."

+++++++ +++++++ +++++++

[Stubbs and Wiremu]

The Judges move in, keeping their weapons out and ready. The civilians in the area had basically vanished. Watching the show was not worth also attracting the ire of the Arbites. The lead Arbitrator, whose jaw was as square and scarred as an old statue approached and restrained Wiremu while the others made sure Stubbs didn't move.

Rough hands restricted the Chindit's and in moments his hands were behind his back and locked tightly in restraints. Two Arbites circled Stubbs and did the same to him. In moments, the two Bastards had been thoroughly disarmed and arrested.

Before they could speak, blackout hoods were placed over there heads. They moved, hands gripping their arms and leading them. They could hear a door slide open as they were roughly shoved inside and placed on a seat. Before long, they were mobile, speeding off to an unknown location...

Ruaidhri nodded back, his eyes serious, and his mouth relaxed. Taking the photo back from his comrade, he slipped it into the inside pocket of his uniform.
"We have a concord. Time for us to get on her trail. We'll be in contact."

Uallachan let loose a dense cloud of dark smoke from his nostrils, his smile wide.
"Blessed St Douglas will give his praise. Tis a noble deed, we undertake. For though our sunglasses may darken when danger approaches, our skin will still remain so chill that the flesh of the ox will not spoil next to us."

Dropping a nod at the two behind the table, he turned on his heel and followed Ruaidhri as the other Rattling made his way out from the room.
"Ever think of getting a tattoo? I'm planning on getting this backspread- large scrawly writing- 'Yer ma did it better'. Something to really show the inner tortured artist inside me. And maybe 'suck and push- the only words your daddy ever understood' Not sure where that one would go though. Because you know, where a tattoo goes is really important. Otherwise it would just be pointless."

[Ruaidhri]

"One more thing. Numa is going with you. She's a tracker and a damn good one. She can get you in the right direction, but she isn't exactly non-descript. So you'll have to do the close in work. Hurry off now. The sooner this is done, the happier we all will be."

A woman stands from one of the tables spread throughout the room. She had been watching and listening intently the whole time, but you hadn't noticed her. This was especially surprising as, like Petra said, she was distinguishable. She stares both Ratlings in each of their eyes and jerks her head to the door without a word. Apparently it was time to go.

Numa:

Ruaidhri and Uallachan turned their heads from the exit of the room to look back as Petra spoke again. The two eyed Numa as she stood up before turning to look at eachother. While the expression on the red haired Ratling remained stoic, Uallachans face broke into a wide smile, his dirty yellow teeth showing.
"Una's husband in the cot"
"Griddle cakes on the way mo chara."

Ruaidhri's eyes twitched and then he nodded as Petra.
"I'm sure she'll be valuable in her assistance."
Turning on his heel, he paid no further attention to Numa as he exited the room. As they made their way back to the stairs Uallachan had been staring back at the woman with unconcealed mirth.

"Numa numa numa yeah. Bit of a poser eh? Just how long does it take you to get that whole get up together? Hours and hours in front of the mirror each morning gelling that hair and getting your make-up all distinctive? Sainted Emporor's bottom sores, but I've never seen as distinctive a tracker. Do you take pride in being shit at your job? Wee bitty advice. Key part of tracking is actually not being recognised by those you are following. Ack well. It'll be an invaluable education running along with us."

Numa moves up to Uallachan, softly running a hand through his scruffy hair and giving it a hard tug and then a soft pat.

"Good boy."

Her voice escapes her rebreather like a wisp of smoke coming off of a nearly finished lho stick. She moves past him, her hips pushing him to the side and gently brushing against Ruaidhri's shoulder.

Without a look back, she begins moving down the stairs, the bouncers moving out of her way without a word.

+++

The streets were still busy as you exit Gammorah 6. Whenever Bazin and Newt eventually re-link up, Numa doesn't introduce herself. She regards them cooly, even tosses them a nod, as though they were expected, but stands a few feet away.

Of the rest of 7th squad, there is absolutely no sign. Stubbs, Wiremu, and Rook had not returned, and even odder yet was the disappearance of Artur and Karsith.

There was a moment to speak to one another, but it was fleeting. Whether or not anyone takes advantage of it, after a few minutes the loudspeaker nearby crackles to life:

"All citizens of Port Wander, in the name of the Adeptus Arbites be-advised: Mandatory curfew is in effect - fifteen minutes post night cycle. There is to be no one out on the streets at this time. Monorail systems have been shut down during curfew. Violators will be subjugated to the full extent of the Law. The Emperor Protects."

Like clockwork, the lights dimmed and a softer automated voice came on.

"Night cycle will begin in ten standard minutes."

Those outside of Gammorah 6 are quickly ushered in while a few turn and head off. The streets were still busy, but the trained eye saw that they were starting to thin.

Numa steps up and points down the main thoroughfare. Without another word, she begins walking.

As Numa moved up and ran her hand through his hair, he looked up at her before giving her rear end a slap.
"Woof woof Numa numa yeah. Glad to see you've got a tongue in that old head of yours. Now the important question is, are ya actually going to use it? Can you hold a conversation of any note or import? I'm going to guess not. Going to bet ya that you are just going to stand around all silent, masturbating over how cool you appear. Kinda goes hand in hand with all the get up you've got on. Appearance over any semblance of personality. I've got a pet brick you remind me a lot of."
His tone was jocular, his eyes alight as he watched her.

Ruaidhri gave her a glance as she moved past, and then gently brushed past her hips as he overtook her going down the stairs. As they reentered the club, his eyes were scanning the room for his three companions. When he caught their eyes, he flicked his up, referencing the taller figure directly behind him. As they all gathered together, he started his explanation.

"You can probably guess what was nicked from me. Our host, one Petra is the man behind it. Got a room above the club along with host of heavies."
"You'll know the type. All tattoos, suits, drugs and stuff. All very 'intimidating'."
"Anyways this Petra naturally is refusing to give back our chit unless we do a job for him."
"Kindly deigned to double it if we bring him back someone."
"We've this weird signed painting of this target. Apparently some ex employee. Wanted alive and unharmed."
"I'm figuring its an ex squeeze of his. Like why else would you have a portrait of one of your staff? Care to let us know any more Bricky?"
He gestured at the figure standing close to them and then continued in an exaggerated whisper.
"This stern and silent figure watching us with her cool eyes and saying nowt, is Brick, a minder from up high who has been attached to us."
"Apparently she's an expert tracker who's going to help us get on the scent of this Jules, apparently to be found in some clinic or a garage."

He gave a sigh and pushed his shoulders back.
"Its a bit of a shit situation I grant you. Here we are with very different plans for our evening, mugged and then given some orders to carry out on our night off. Him and I don't have much choice seeing as we are responsible for the company purse but I'll leave it up to you if you want to join us or sit tight."

Newt shook her head in disbelief at the turn of events.

Somehow they both knew shit would go sideways.

Bazin sighed, "Well, feth. I guess we better find this target then. You heard the announcments. Fifteen until curfew. Then its sneaking around for us. C'mon Newt. We got shit to do now."

He nudges her to get up, but she moved sluggishly slow, still not wanting to believe the rotten luck.

Finally, he gets some sense into her and gets her up to her feet looking back at Uallachan as he does so:
"Ill let you explain the mess to sergeant."
The smug smile quickly fades,
"On second thought, maybe I should do it."

With no sign of the others and apparently nothing left to discuss, Numa leads on.

She heads down the main thoroughfare, moving briskly, but not making herself stand out. People everywhere were disbursing and the street was getting emptier and emptier. The side alleyways were doing the same, but not nearly at the same rate. Even still, the citizens of Port Wander were clearly taking this seriously.

At an intersection, Numa takes a right, leading farther into the interior of the space station. After a few minutes, without looking back, she quickly turns down a break off alleyway. As you round the corner, she is nowhere in sight.

Back down the main road you were on, you can see the lights of a slow moving vehicle in the distance. A Psst grabs your attention. Numa is crouched behind a large, steel waste bin.

"Get off the road," she hisses.

Without heisting Bazin and Newt duck into the alleyway and find sufficient hiding places of thier own. Bazin hides behind a large pile of waste-bags and Newt behind some empty wooden crates.

For both of them, it brought back memories of being orphans on the mean streets of Armageddon's hades hive. Avoiding the gangers, who typically mugged bystanders, and the enforcers, who rounded up delinquents for conscription and forced labor duty was practically an art form.

It was like a throwback to the old days, except port wander was much, much cleaner.

"You could explain yourself out of a commendation and into permanent latrine duty Newt. Then again from what I've heard, you've got a thing for people urinating in your mouth right?" The blond Rattling winked at her before his comrade spoke up, from slightly in front as he followed Numa.
"Lets wait and see how this plays out. Play out cards right and we might have precious little explaining to do."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the blink of an eye, the two Rattlings were off the main road and into their own hiding places, Uallachan deep into a ditch of trash and waste, and Ruaidhri behind a steel bin of his own. Both of the Rattlings were wrapped in their Chameleoline cloaks, making either much more difficult to spot. Having spent the vast majority of their adult lives in the armed forces, they were well used to hiding out from security on cities, compounds and bases like this. Whether it was local security, MP's or enraged locals, Ruaidhri and Uallachan found it was better to avoid notice by those in authority even on the rare occasions when they weren't breaking the law.

Newt was about to respond with a threat before Bazin shusshes her.
"Shut up." he whispers to his companions, before addressing Numa.

"What was it? Patrol's?"

Partly because he wanted to know, and partly because he wanted to keep Newt's impulse to throttle the ratlings in check.

They pissed him off at times too, but he wouldnt go off mission to kick their fattened, diminutive little assees. Newt could be a bit more impulsive then that.

The Bastards find ample hiding spots. There was refuse, large trash bins, and corners to duck behind.

Like this, but with more garbage and closed shutters:

Numa was sunk into a corner created by the edge of the steel bin and the wall it was pressed against. She looked cool as a cucumber as Bazin addressed her. She put her index finger against her lips in response to his question. Assuring that he was still looking at her, she outlined the shape of a bade above her left breast.

The night cycle was never true-dark, but the electro-orbs did dim greatly to give the illusion of night. A few minutes pass silently before the first traces of vehicle lights come from the main street. The sound of an engine follows. The alleyway is bathed in shadow as a spotlight breaks from the main road and pierces the gloom...

Stealth tests please:

Two arbitrators walked into view, one on each side of the main avenue. They flanked a large vehicle that looked as though it had plenty of room to house anyone they might pick up. Both were armed with shock mauls, but deadly combat shotguns loomed largely on their backs. They would be devastating in suc closed in spaces.

The one closest to Bazin, Newt, Ruaidhri, and Uallachan peers down the alleyway. His light slowly moves across, but his attention is clearly elsewhere. Bazin feels like he could have stood up and the officer still wouldn't have noticed, daydreaming as he was.

"All clear," he says as he waves the vehicle forward. After a few moments it is gone and the sound has died away.

Numa stands and brushes herself off. "Shall we?"

The trash by the kerb of the road suddenly shifted, splintering upwards as if a volcano of waste was blowing forth. The sight was equal parts terrifying and dreamlike, as if on-watchers had crossed dimensions, to one where the laws of physics were twisted obscenely. Seconds later though, it was clear that it was only Uallachan.
The Rattling was investigating something soft and pulpy in one hand, while its flesh bled down his breast. His partner, joined him from behind his bin, staring into the space where the vehicle had been.
"I don't recall this curfew being mentioned to us before we boarded this station."
"Think its worth eating?"
"Guess the only information we can trust is what we learn for ourselves."
Uallachan cast a glance at his ally before crushing the thing between his fingers, flesh splattering down. He grinned up at the new arrival in their group holding up his left hand.
"Look at that Brick. Our hands match now, both wet and sticky."

Ruaidhri was still staring into the empty space when she spoke. He turned and titled his head in her direction.
"Lead on Brick."

Bazin moves to help Newt from the gutter. SHe nods to him in silent thanks.

Once they were not obscure by trash, Bazin asks Numa, "So where exactly are we headed here? Is=ts not some well guarded hole is it?"

Newt made her own comment. "Guards lax much? In hades an alley lik that wouldve at least been walked before moving on."

Zuma grabs Uallachan's wrist as she walks by and holds tight. She leans down methodically and places both of her fingers in her mouth. Without breaking eye contact, she cleans them off and then swallows.

"It's in bad taste to waste." She lets go of his hand and wanders off, taking point again.

"Headed to a level lower than this. Just gotta get to a service shaft; never seen the Bites that lax before - must not care too much about this particular space be my guess."

Without further delay, she moved off. Arbites were meant to handle populations that far outnumbered them, which meant that while another patrol was not out of the question, it was unlikely. They would no doubt rely largely on surveillance technology and citizen reports in which to respond.

The streets were obviously much quieter now. The thriving undercity vibe had been replaced by something more akin to a battlefield dim. It was static electric. Each footstep echoed far too loud for an invisible enemy to hear.

Eventually Numa came to a halt. A large steel ground entrance sat in front of her. It was black with yellow hazard stripes, flecked and chipped by time and use. One thing was certain, it look heavy.

"Any of you strong lads want to open this now?"

Numa awaited a response.

Bazin, followed closely by Newt, moves up to the electronic lock.

He studies it for a moment as he rubs his chin in thought. It was a standard electronic lock, 9 numbers, a # and a *. None of the numbers looked worn anymore than the others.
With no way to know for sure, he hits the lock, then shrugs.
"I think its broke. We will have to do this the hard way. Give me a hand will ya?"

Bazin and Numa grab the handles, and heaves with all their might. Surprisngly, the door opens rather easily.
"Was this thing even locked?" he asks.

Numa shrugged and then stared at Uallachan who hadn't helped at all.

"Saving your strength for other things..." she whispered through her rebreather grill. Her eyes narrowed, and Uallachan swore she winked at him.

Without another word, she grabbed the steel of the ladder that led down and slid into the darkness below.

As Numa leaned down to suck his fingers, Uallachan had smiled back at their new acquaintance. However while her mouth was full with one hand, its brother had not been idle. Surreptitiously moving between her legs, his middle and ring fingers suddenly jammed hard into her arsehole.

"A fan of sustainability eh? I'm more of a feed the fire anything you can reach. As the Emperor's poet laureate Remi Rush once decanted 'Like the plants that sustain us, mankind is an organism which has a few essential needs. For sustenance they send out roots to gather in water and nutrients. We do the same with our varied sexual orifices. In and out we jam these into every available space, spreading and taking seed. For growth they reach their leaves out to the sun, its rays vital to their continued life. For us we reach out with our hands, tongues, noses, feet and arses, feeling, pinching and cupping etcetera. And finally plants send out their seed to continue the existence of their race. In the same way we open our bum cheeks and shit over the hand that feeds.'
She was a wise one that Rush. Died at the ripe old age of twenty after an encounter with the Imperial virgins."

While the others fooled about with the door, the two Rattlings had been standing with their backs to the wall. While Ruaidhri kept on eye on their surroundings, Uallachan had his pipe out and was busy checking its contents. After inserting one newly cleaned finger into it and rooted about, removing a pinch of darkened squidgy gunk. After giving it a meditative sniff, he inserted it into one bag in his chest pocket before taking fresh ground up leaf from another and refilling his pipe. Holding it to one side of his mouth, he looked back at Numa again with some amusement.
"These scrawny things? Go on with you. Anyways you all looked like you were enjoying yourselves."
"We've never ones to hog anything for the company. Bar in one respect of course."
"I'm glad you are finally finding your tongue eh Brick? Tired of flicking yourself and fancy getting your hands on something else? We call lesson two call and response."

The two exchanged a brief glance as she slid down the ladder and then moved over to follow their companions. As Uallachan took a grip of the rungs he looked up at Ruaidhri.
"Dramatic parting words and then I drop down." He then started his descent.
As Ruaidhri made his way down, he gave their surroundings a final check before pulling the lid back down until it was almost back in place. Taking up a small stone, he placed it in the locking mechanism so it couldn't close completely. This way they could still be assured of coming back this way, and it didn't leave an obvious trail.
Since the rest of their group had scatted they had running blind, with no real plan in place. Ruaidhri wasn't too bothered by this, with Uallachan you could never be completely sure what might occur on a simple evening exploration. Still though, he was going to have to keep a keen eye. Death was looming up ahead again.
He continued to move down after his companions.

The area immediately below the street was as one would imagine a sewer to be without the biological refuse. To be sure, human waste was surely flowing through one of the many pipes that lined each wall and the floor under the steel grate you were walking on. This service area was a space dedicated as such, but Numa cautioned everyone to keep their eyes peeled. While this area was a typical maintenance route, other areas down here had life in them yet.

It was a testament to Port Wander's impromptu constructions over the ages. As the station expanded, areas and levels once thriving got left behind.

There was lighting for now, but soon after you started moving it got dimmer and dimmer. Luckily it allowed your eyes to adjust, but it was still nothing like it had been topside.

Spoiler:

Numa took point. She walked up ahead for some time, before coming back and reporting it all clear. You couldn't imagine someone would be waiting in ambush for you, but apparently Petra's tracker didn't take any chances.

You walk for some time, Numa staying mostly out of sight up ahead. Eventually you realize you cannot see her at all. As the Bastards stop to gather their bearings, waiting for Numa to come back and report, Ruaidhri realizes that he is missing a very important piece of equipment...

...Uallachan.

Ruaidhri gave his surroundings a long contemplative stare before unholstering his rifle from his back and taking it into his hands. His face was mostly the same as normal, an expression of detached humour but there was a hard expression in his eyes. He had seen Uallachan about five minutes prior, walking just ahead of them but he was no longer there and neither was their guide. It was eminently possible that the two were busy shagging in some shadow up ahead. The fact that they were on a potentially important mission and surrounded by possible dangers would only encourage his blood brother. There was also the possibility that Brick or something else might have attacked them. With their experience and countless years in scum beyond smell it was unlikely that Uallachan would have been dropped without making a sound but it still may have occurred.

Looking over at his two companions, he indicated the way forward with his head.
"Shall we continue on? For two very different reasons I don't trust either going out of sight here. You have any experience of tracking Bazin?"

Bazin cursed, holding the heavy laspistol tight in his hands.

"Stay close." he tells Newt, who simply kepts her hands tight on his shoulder.

When asked about his tracking skills, he shrugged. "Well enough, you see any footprints in the mud?" he asked sardonically.

Still, there was no other choice, he motioned for the others to be quiet so he could be listen for any sounds......

Funny enough, Bazin does see "footprints in the mud," so to speak. Only when he gets real close to the ground can he see the still wet outline of small boot print on the steel floor ahead of them.

It led off into some steamy clouds. From where he was currently, he could hear nothing other than the odd steam venting into the corridor.

Bazin motions to Newt and Uallachan, that way....

He takes point, still with the heavy laspistol in hand. The steam was thick and he was following the wet prints, but also keeping an ear out for anything threatening.

Bazin and Newt move through billowing steam. It wasn't hot enough to burn them, just obscure their vision. Once they are on the other side of it, odd, wet sounds can be heard from up ahead.

They turn a corner and see a scene of abject horror.

Bazin backed up a few steps, not sure what to say or do.

He had just seen things no man should see, it was possible that ruinous powers had been involved.....

Toreth would've simply killed everything. Bazin could only stand in disbelief.

He backs up, not taking his white knuckle grip off the laspistol.

"What is it Baz?" Newt asks hesitantly.

"Its,,,,its...." it was no good. the words were caught in a throat that was suddenly too dry.
He turns, overcoming his abject horror and seeming resolute again.
"C'mon. Let's go."

Ruaidhri had followed Bazin closely, his senses attuned both behind and in front of them, his las rifle cocked and ready. Their present circumstances were perfect for an ambush of some kind and he was prepared for any sudden movement or noise. When Bazin turned the corner, the Rattling noticed the Bastard immediately step back before turning anyway with some revulsion.
Intrigued he stepped around to see for himself.

Deep in the shadows Uallachan was pressed up against a wall, his pants around his ankles. Brick was close in behind him, her hand deep inside his hole and furiously thrusting. After one last stab, she let him fall to the ground before putting the same digits into his mouth to get his attention.
"Never. Without. My. Permission."
Apparently she hadn't appreciated his previous action.
Before she could remove her fingers though, Uallachan closed his teeth on them, hard enough to keep them in place, but not causing any undue pain. His smile was wide and obvious. After running his tongue over them, he released her and watched still smiling as she wiped her hand on his jacket.
"Not until next time my sweet sweet Brick."
He gave her a wink before slowly getting back to his feet and rubbing his arse against the wall.

Ruaidhri watched the whole scene with half a smirk across his face, before turning back to check out the corridor. After Brick had retrieved her weapon and spoke, he replied.
"Now you've got the bag emptied we can get back to the mission on hand. Lead onwards."

Uallachan, his pants refastened came to stand next to his partner. His walk was a bit bow-legged but his grin was still ear to ear.
"Have fun?"
"Ah mo chara, like you wouldn't believe. Ol Bricky her might be limited in thought and words but what a woman? There's not many who'd get down to the real mission and drag me off into the smoke for a little amuse bouche."
"A regular St Matilda the ham fister."
"A bit more St Julian. When he arrived on Magnus P, he came to recall those poor delinquents back to the faith of the Emperor. However the day of his arrival coincided with a orgy of literally planetary proportions. St Julian tried to tempt them with his words but they simply laughed. This was a planet where actions meant more than words. And so he challenged the lead heretic to a lay off. What followed has rarely been witnessed before or hence. These two champions of the sexual acts, brothers of different mothers were equals in everything, constantly moving the bar. When one had two cocks up his ass, the other took three. When one induced heart attacks of pleasure, the other fucked the brains from his. When one laid waste to the market square, the other cleared the city. They rode that planet so hard and so viciously, they extinguished all life beyond themselves. And so they turned to eachother. One trained in all the gasping orgasms of the dark arts and the other in the shuddering machinery of the church."
"Brick by brick eh?"
Uallachan rubbed his hands together gleefully.
"You ready to move on my lovely Bricky? Quicker we start moving the quicker you'll get hungry again. And there's only one thing that will satisfy you now."

Numa looked back at the Ratlings with her hard as stone gaze. Then it softened. She winked and turned back around. Though her rebreather blocked the view, it was easy to imagine a grin on her face as she did so. She disappeared ahead once more, so silent that she would have given Artur pause.

By the way, where the feth had Artur gone off to? It was a mystery for another time.

The group moved on for some time. It wasn't fast movement as Numa kept caution high. Why, no one knew. The maintenance level seemed safe enough. But apparently Petra's tracker took no chances. After a bit more than a half an hour of walking, you came across the lithe figure of Numa taking a knee, her body pressed against a wall. Her hand went up to form a fist as your footsteps approached.

She gestured Ruaidhri and Bazin forward.

For the first time since you met her, she slowly removed her rebreather. In the dim light, you could see full lips painted electric pink with two hoop rings in the bottom. The rest of her otherwise beautiful jawline was a mass of scars, as though a beast had grabbed a hold of her face and torn here and there.

Her voice was just above a whisper.

"Something up ahead."

She held her finger in front of Bazin and Ruaidhri's faces and slowly extended it to where her eyes were trained. Where her eyes never left.

Bazin looks to where she was pointing. He couldnt see anything through the haze and exhaust filtering throughout the area.

He pulls his shirt away from his skin. The temperature down here was cold, but the excessive moisture content made it rather clammy. His fatigues clung to his skin like a second layer.

He shakes his head. He couldn't see it, but he had no doubt the scarred scout saw something.

He holds his laspistol in a tight grip.

Uallachan looked around at the rest of the group in obvious disappointment as they all silently moved off.
"No devotee's of St Jullian then? Paint me as a virgin and church fuck me, but even so I thought some of you would have been interested in the tale."
"To be fair to them Uallachan, they've probably heard the other version."
The blond Rattling laughed.
"Emporor's blue balls, the mainstream story? Yeah that explains why nothing else walked on that planet for two generations hense. Or why his followers all have an extra two orifices- for 'Riding'"

After this they continued after the others, Ruaidhri still taking care to check out any movements behind them. He came forward after Brick waved them forward. His rifle was held in his hands, pointed at the ground a little in front of him, ready to move up if he needed it. However, despite squinting into the gloom he couldn't make anything out of the distant figure.
