Weyland ignored the heretek's miss. After all, even mostly-machine men were fallible. He kept his weapon aimed as well as he could given the movement and fired a single round to gauge his accuracy. As the bolt left the chamber, he knew his aim to be true.

[Single shot vs melta gunner; BS 48 +20 (aim) +10 (single) +5 (bike) -20 (called shot) -10 (distance) <53; rolled 39/2 DoS; Damage: 19 (ZH: 1), pen 4 - http://orokos.com/roll/563560]

[Round 1]

Weyland's test round punches right into the chest of the melta-gunner. The ensuring micro-explosion rips him open spraying gore all over the driver who loses control of the bike. It drifts in front of the heavy stubber truck. That driver doesn't care about his friends as the truck plows right into the bike.

Then all hell breaks lose as the Nomads rip into each other with bullets, lasers, and grenades.

An enemy grenadier gets a lucky shot in with a krak grenade that rips a wheel off one of the friendly trucks. It digs into the dirt before catching and flipping sending all the Nomads in the bed flying to their deaths.

[Down to 3 friendly trucks. 2 enemy bikes eliminated.]

Payback is delivered though as a well timed frag grenade air bursts next to them shredding the drive and grenadier.

The other bike misses their shot.

Two enemy trucks gain on the two friendly trucks. The occupants exchange fire on each other neither side getting in the killing blow.

The heavy stubber truck gets itself set up to cover the last truck as it screams a head towards Weyland and Ethharts truck.

[Heavy Stubber Gunner - Full Action: Suppressing Fire]

BS Roll: 80 (4 DoF)

The heavy stubber pours fire over Weyland and Ethhart and everyone else in the truck.

Nomads Pinning Test: 1 (2 DoS)

Ethhart Pinning Test: 14 (1 DoS)

Some people duck their heads at the incoming fire but no one hits the deck. The presence of Weyland standing tall in the face of the fire must of inspired them.

The Nomads from the charging truck chuck two Krak grenades but the driver of your truck is good, damn good, as he slams on the breaks and the grenades sail over you and you come up almost parallel to the enemy truck.

The lead Nomad sticks an assault shotgun out his window and aims for the enemy driver.

Lead Nomad BS Roll: 44 (4 DoS)

The round hits and doesn't penetrate the armor but a slimy liquid sprays everywhere before it ignites into flames. The enemy drivers view is obscured and has a hard time keeping the vehicle straight.

Your nomads use this chance to unload into those in the opposite truck. They catch a few but not all of them.

[Round 2 begins with Ethhart and Weyland]

Ethhart sets his sights on the last remaining bike and fire again with his launcher.

Etthart BS Roll: 73 (4 DoF)

No luck again as the shot misses and only harms dirt.

[3 friendly trucks left. 1 bike and 4 enemy trucks left.]

"Perhaps you need a bigger target. Focus on the trucks, Ethhart." Weyland shifts to the next bike - the target the heretek can't seem to hit. With the same patience born of multiple millenia of combat, he calm takes aim and fires.

[Forgot that I have bolter drill - that ups my RoF, right? If so, fire two shots single instead of one:  BS 48 +10 (aim) +10 (single) +10 (close distance now, assuming?) +5 (bike) -20 (called shot) <63; rolled 58/hit if distance is +10; Damage: 17, pen 4. http://orokos.com/roll/566411

Weyland's aim is impeccable. He nails both the driver and passenger of the bike.

Ethhart focuses on one of the trucks.

Etthart BS Roll: 11 (7 DoS)

Damage: 15

He drops a frag grenade right into the bed of the truck. The ensuing shrapnel bath wipes out any surviving nomads. The friendly truck next to it takes care of the truck itself sending it up in a ball of fire.

The driver of the enemy truck right next to Weyland doesn't see the outcropping of rock thanks to the fire on his windshield. He smashes right into it.

The enemy heavy stubber takes aim at Weyland.

Heavy Stubber BS Roll: 1 (8 DoS)

Damage: 8 (Pen 3)

An enemy truck overwhelms an allied one causing it to crash.

The allied trucks were dropping nearly as fast as the enemy. To Weyland it mattered little if his impromptu compatriots lived or died here - including Ethhart. However, that would make things a bit more difficult for him. In his aeon of existence, he had learned that relying on others was not a sign of weakness as a Khornite or Tzeentchian might see it. It was a boon. Only through the unity of others could the gifts of Papa Nurgle spread forth. So he had decided enough was enough.

He made no effort whatsoever to avoid the enemy heavy stubber fire. To the contrary, he stood tall and seemed to absorb the puny enemy fire. The eye slits in his ancient helm glowed a sickly green with each impact. One after another the bullets popped and suckled with ooze rather than pinging and sparking off the armor.

He moved his bolter swiftly. His power armored servos were well lubricated with the gifts of Nurgle. He fires three shots in rapid succession; his goal is to put two into the cab of the truck Etthart does not fire on and the third in the cab of the truck the heretek does fire on. He wanted to end this now.

[Assuming the 8, pen 3 damage was after power armor and toughness bonus, I will use the Hideous Resilience special ability as a reaction: Tough 65 -10 (ability) +10 (unnatural) <65; rolled 31/4 DoS = 4 dmg soaked. Also, is Weyland's Fear (2) coming into play against these jabroni's attacking him?
Firing w/Bolter Drill: BS 48 +20 (aim/distance) +20 (truck) -20 (called shot) <68; rolled 98/if possible, Infamy Point re-roll: 16/7 DoS +1 (Bolter Drill) = 8 DoS. LOL yes.
Dmg: 14, 12, 14, pen 4.

Weyland stands tall absorbing the stubber rounds. The gunner finally sees his mistake that he has targeted a Plague Marine. Either from shock or something else the gunner violently spasms and crumbles to the bed of the truck dead.

Ethhart can't even get a grenade off before Weylands rounds all find their homes... in the cranium or chest of his targets in their cabs. The two trucks, driver-less, swerve around before colliding into one another and shower the ground in mechanical and fleshy parts.

[End of Combat]

"Remind me to never get on your bad side, Astartes." Says the lead Nomad from the cab of the truck.

The two surviving trucks speed off into the wasteland leaving behind a trail of carnage.

===============================================================

The trucks come speeding up to the Mekonta, one of Messia's two polar cities. The temperature is cooler and the everything is lite by twilight. Drill rigs sit at the edge of the city unloading their cargo with their escorts still standing guard.

The trucks bypass these refineries and head a little further into the outskirts of Mekonta. Every building from the outskirts to the city center is ragged and patched up. Weyland sees why starts to see why.

Half of the city is bathed in darkness and light. The side of the city in the light is broken down under the intense heat, acid, and other chemicals ignited from the light. It's like a revolving wheel of madness albeit a slow one. Parts of the city on the dawn side are being rebuilt and those on the dawn edge are abandoned or are being abandoned.

The trucks come roaring up to a massive motor pool center teaming with countless other Nomads and their vehicles. The motor pool is part auction house, mechanics shop, and leisure for the Nomads. For Ethhart and Weyland it's just a curiosity as they venture deeper into the city towards the port, whichever reconstructed one that might be.

Deeper in the city is the land of the Mekonta citizens who control their properties with ruthlessness and zeal. The slaves who fight for the entertainment of the citizens in the arenas and rebuild the city. Then the well armed pressgangs that roam the night side streets checking everyone for identification, killing those who resist and enslaving those who are without identification.

One these pressgangs descends down upon Ethhart as he turns the corner of a building. When Weyland steps around though the pressgang scurries away like rats.

Ethhart leads Weyland to the "port" and proceeds to head towards a Dark Mechanicus vessel surrounded by guards.  Weyland instantly knows what the guards are, Thallaxii. Machines he hasn't seen since the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.

They ID Ethhart as friendly but all their weapons turn Weyland. That is until Ethhart says something in a clipped and screeching language, binary chatter. They all lower their weapons and let Weyland pass.

Approaching the ship Weyland spots other Hereteks going about their business and one in particular scuttles over to you like a caterpillar. It's flanked by two humanoid machines. Each ones shells dark as the void and as tall and large as any Astartes. Each holds a power spear.

The Heretek looks at Ethhart, "Thought we lost you." The Heretek then rears up and meets Weyland at eye level, "I see Ethhart has brought a friend back." A dendrite appears from the Heretek and a red laser sweeps across Weylands figure, "Hmmm, a Death Guard Apothecary, interesting. No wonder you ran into Ethhart. Probably looking for prognoids. Did he give you the excuse that he was Hive Polix?" The Heretek laughs in a clipped computer way, "I'm Magos Ulta and Ethhart hear is one of my Tech-Priests. We are not from Hive Polix. We're from one of the asteroid-smithies out in the Ragged Helix."

Magos Ulta looks at Ethhart and the two communicate in the incomprehensible binary chatter. Ulta looks back at Weyland "Ethhart informs me you are now the sole carrier of the prognoids. I would like it greatly if you returned them."

The Ethhart starts to fire off some binary chatter before Ulta violently cuts him off with his own.

Weyland exited the truck and scanned his surroundings, his ancient armor bringing back read outs normal human senses couldn’t fathom. He turned to the leader of the scavengers.

“We have fought together and I have witnessed your abilities, as you have witnessed mine. As I️ have seemed you worthy, there is only but one question remaining: do you wish to receive the gifts of the only God who truly cares for your existence? He who has made me the pillar of power you see before you.”

The plague doctor took a step forward and looked down upon the man.

“I can grant you this immortality.”

The lead Nomad shakes his head at Weyland, "I live for the thrill of combat, Astartes. Immortality kind of takes that away." He starts to leave, "I will be happy when I die out their in the wastes killing other nomads or mutants!"

[Weyland gets the sense the lead Nomad is more in line with Khorne or staying unaligned all together.]

Weyland lets the bandit leader go without another word. He too then turned to follow Ethhart through the twisting port city.

+++++++

The Death Guard approached the Dark Mechanicus vessel with a slight curiosity that was only piqued further at the sight of the Thallaxi. "I haven't seen their like since the Crusade," he says more to himself than to Etthart. He doesn't move when they bring their weapons to bear on him. Instead, his mind automatically began processing the multiple ways he could engage them most efficiently. Etthart then proved his usefulness again and the duo were through the check point.

He listened carefully to what the Magos had to say; the intelligible exchange with Etthart was particularly interesting. "I am Weyland Armoth, Plague Doctor of Mortarion's Death Guard Legion. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance Magos Ulta. With all due respect, the deal I made with Ethhart was between the two of us - with no mention of a third party. I have held up my end of the bargain, and Ethhart his.
May I first ask your interest in the progenoid glands of fallen Astartes?"

"Etthart has always been one that has omitted vital information from time to time. His deal with you is a deal with me and one I did not agree to. However, I'll honor the deal with a slight change. The progenoids are to return to my possession. You may accompany me back to our asteroid-smithie in the Helix and oversee their integration. Fallen Astartes might not always harvest their fallen brothers progenoids but there are those who do seek to swell their warband's numbers or the aspiring warlord who is looking for his own batch of loyal Astartes," says Magos Ulta.

Weyland considers the new proposition for a moment and then nods. "That is acceptable. I will lend my aid in that endeavor. Another thing - Etthart has proven himself useful in our journey here. His continued assistance would be very much appreciated," came the deeply sinister voice.

"Wonderful. Etthart can continue as your assistant for all intents and purposes." Magos Ulta says as he lowers himself back to the ground and scurries back to the voidship.

"We leave immediately." Magos Ulta's clipped voice rings out.
