Felyx beckons Servitor to him and works on the weapon as the others talk...

Tech Use:

+++

After helping Marius and sometime before Egil's headache...

Felyx moves to the Hallowed shrine of the Machine god. He had performed communion once before, and the results were both enlightening and extremely troubling. Once more Servitor assisted him. While the others spoke among themselves, he opened himself up entirely to the aspect of the Machine god...

Every now and then, he shuddered. Sometimes softly. Sometimes not so soft. His mouth and eyes moved continuously. He was one with the machine, and soon he would exit its all-knowing embrace.

Still inside the machine...

Felyx takes control of the heart and broken machine spirit, becoming its living avatar. He taps into the communications array, broadcasting clearly.

"Slaves be hearing to me; I am avatar of Machine Gods; your masters are torture to you. They are lies to you! Join to us. Join to us like Malik-slave ally. Turn weapons to hereteks to are beating to you. Kill to them and join to us!"

He immediately bursts into techna linuga: +++For the God of the Cog is furious at the defamation and mistreatment of his most sacred relics. Hereteks of this station will pay with their lives, their data core forever ripped from their skulls and crushed for their transgressions. Flee now, cowards, for the wrath of the Omnissiah is made manifest. Your lives reduced to zero.+++

Attempt at convincing the slaves and intimidating the hereteks:

Immediately after his warning, Felyx took control of the station. The doors separating the garage and the main facility from the corridor leading to the shrine sealed and locked. Felyx opened up the comms to that room alone. There were three servitors in that small area with a single slave; Felyx had them turn and face him.

"It is being time to choose: your tormentors or your Omnissiah? Turn your grenade to them..."

He unlocked the door leading to the garage where two hereteks lie in wait. The slave would have to choose.

Marius, having retrieved his shotgun from Felyx, moved into position, preparing to exit into the connecting passage. He was impressed; the weapon looked better than he could ever recall, even the day he'd first acquired it. The blessings of the Mechanicus were akin to sorcery, at times.

Marius grinned upon hearing Felyx's attempt to convert the slave to their cause. Despite the curious diction, Marius could not help but be impressed by Felyx's little speech. Were I a downtrodden follower of the Machine God, he thought, I'd sure be ready to take vengeance on some heretics. He waited in tense anticipation. He hoped the slave would be moved by Felyx's words; he wasn't keen on walking into an enclosed space with a frag grenade. Once it was clear that the the 'nade was targetting unfriendlies, he'd take cover at the corner of connecting passage and mop up any of the heretics that survived the initial blast.

On the video cameras, Felyx can watch the response to his speech in real time.

The slaves and tech adepts on the comms look about in mild surprise as he speaks. A few of them seem to be considering his message...

Malik looks about dejectedly throughout the announcement. You all watch and wait for their response. "You're reasoning with the looney bin, friend. I'm one of the few sane ones left, if you can believe it."

None of the slaves or tech adepts change position or lay down their weapons. The slave with the frag grenade in particular smiles maniacally, jumping excitedly back and forth and staring at the first of the two doors between you and him.

It appears that Felyx's awkward, stunted speeches weren't quite enough to influence anyone...Perhaps they will beg for mercy once you've brought the Emperor's (or Omnissiah's) wrath upon a few of their friends?

As Felyx's message is broadcast, Alistair turns to look at the techpriest.

"Alright then. This changes things."
Alistair mutters. "Now we have to deal with potential non combatants."

Looking around at the team, considering who exactly he had with him, Alistair appears to come to a decision. We don't have the skills or the time to do this properly.

"Listen up. If Felyx is successful, we'll be walking into a fight with unknown allies. If he isn't successful, they might still try something, maybe attempt to deceive us. Our mission is too important, and the taint of Heresy stains this place. Treat everyone as hostile. The Emperor will know his own."

"Yes, they're heretics all" finally some one starting to see sense. He was just surprised it was Alistair.

"Ho, warrior woman." Egill shouts at Donna "you and I 'ave at em', eh?"

Egill looks around considering tables, chairs, cabinets before his gaze rests on the dead heretic. Hmm, a metal body... The barbarian reaches down and pulls up the body, it would do he thought. "This heretic shall be our shield."

His head still pounded but Marius' meds had certainly took the edge off. "Lets go"

Felyx felt his ire rise to even further levels at the both the slaves and the hereteks' refusal to flee.

+++THEN YOUR SOULS WILL ALL BE RETURNED TO THE MACHINE+++ he screeched in binary chatter so loud that the speakers nearly shorted.

Immediately, one of the servitors turned to embrace the crazed, grenade-wielding slave. The other two moved to flank the doorway leading into the garage.

PostSubject: Re: Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2   Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2 - Page 4 EmptyTue Dec 11, 2018 4:11 pm

Marius felt his pulse quicken. Out of fear? Excitement? He was never sure; the phenomenology of anticipation was not something he'd ever been able to accurately diagnose. But for whatever reason, it was stronger than it'd been in quite some time. Maybe it had been the experiences of out in the frigid wastes... or maybe...

His anxious thoughts ended abruptly as his ears filled with the binary screeching of the intercoms. The ringing in his ears... that cacophony should hardly have caused tinnitus. He felt beads of sweat forming on his forehead: why was it so warm? The ringing in his ears began to sound faintly of shattering glass, and he swore he could see flickers of flame through the thick windows of the doors, all that was between him and...

Fate.

He squeezed his eyes shut and dabbed the perspiration from his forehead. He had a mission. All that mattered was its completion and the redemption of souls that had strayed from the light of the Throne. He hoped his lapse in focus would not end up costing him and his allies.

PostSubject: Combat Round 1   Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2 - Page 4 EmptyWed Dec 19, 2018 1:41 pm

ROUND 1

Initiative Order

13: Egill
10: Slaves/Hereteks
9: Damiel
8: Alistair
7: Donna
5: Felyx
4: Servitors
3: Marius

The time for action had come, rejoice in the Emperor! It looked like the metal man had things under control, they could do this in their time, at least for now.

Egill eyes the slave, its servitude was not an excuse for heresy. This brought some zeal to Egill as he strides over to the grappled heretic, once close enough Egill thrust his claymore forwards trying to impale his foe.

-----

The slave's eyes went wide as Egill's burly frame approached. The claymore slid through the man like a hot knife through butter - the heretic slumped forward with a pained grunt, clearly dead.

-----

Damiel was concerned about Egill, the psyker was clearly affected by what was happening here. He'd better stay close in case he needed to step in. Following his 'charge' Damiel blasts the grappled servitor for good measure.

-----

Watching as his two teammates skewered the grappled slave, Alistair followed shortly, one hand reaching for the grenade.

"Good work. Felyx, which door will open next?"

Felyx replied promptly. ""Any can being to open - advise securing to garages firsts"

-----

Donna picks the closest door where some victims were most likely to be hiding.

She moves up to it, chainsword and autopistol occupying her hands. Her hadns grip tight on each, With the slaught enhancing her abilities, she awaiting combat a little too eagerly.
"Open thawt door" she instructs anyone who would listen.

-----

"Garage - 2 Enemy. One immediately right door. Another 3 meters back left." When the team moved into place, Felyx screamed into the intercomms in the garage room.

+++You should have fled, deniers of the Omnissiah. Now the ground will run slick with the oils of your life.+++

He opened the door and a stream of white-hot las spurted forth from the closest servitor, lighting the path for his allies.

-----

The slave attempts to dodge, but doesn't quite move in time. The blinding white light sears forth from the repair servitor's tool, slicing the man clean in half diagonally and immediately setting his clothes on fire. He howls in agony and writhes on the floor momentarily before laying limp.

-----

Seeing the room is secure, Marius will take cover to the right side of the doors leading into the garage and ready his shotgun to blast the nearest bogey once the doors open.

"Affirmative, Felyx: garages first. We'll give you the all clear when everyone is in position."

ROUND 2

Initiative Order

13: Egill
10: Slaves/Hereteks
9: Damiel
8: Alistair
7: Donna
5: Felyx
4: Servitors
3: Marius

Egill nods back at Damiel, he was glad to have the null with him in case something went 'south' with his powers. It was a definite concern with the barrier so weak. His warp powers were a double edged sword. They marked him as a mutant but also as an approved servant of the Emperor. Egills sanctioning brand obvious to all tattooed onto his forehead.

Shouldering the dead heretek to possibly use as cover Egill moves up behind Donna.

---------

The wretched cultist from the garage fires off a couple shots from his lasgun, the bright bursts of light crackling through the air. Both shots hit the door frame - it appears his nerves got the best of him.

---------

Damiel sat behind the psyker, recognizing the meat shield for what it was. He kept his weapons ready, poised to fire a shot at anyone who came into view.

---------

"Give me a warning when these doors about to open Felyx!"

--------

Donna smiled as she took cover from the clumsy shot being thrown her way. She pokes her head out from the sparks to goad him on.
"Jus a lil bit more practice an' one day yew'll get me." She moves behind the doorway again as more sparks pepper. In response, she smiles savagely and revs the chainsword as she rushes out into the hall and towards the wanker who was shooting at her. She closed the gap easily and raked one of his arms with the tearing weapon.
"Lets diespense wit awh the p'easantries ya"

Letting out a ragged chuckle, the cultist/slave sidesteps the chainsaw blow with ease. The revving blade clashes with the metal wall behind the man, glancing off it with an ear-splitting screeching noise.

---------

Felyx sent the repair servitor to assist Donna while the others made ready to advance. "Two enemies are being just beyond doors - 1 at right hallway. 1 at left second room. Doors to be opening 3... 2... 1..."

Almost on cue, the cultists let loose a barrage of semi-automatic fire as the doors open. Clearly novices, the darkness doesn't help their aim whatsoever. A few shots hit the doors as they're opening, some hit the walls, and others just fly wide. One does manage to hit Egill's meatshield, however.

Meanwhile, Felyx manipulates the lighting controls to illuminate the enemies at the south end of the station, while leaving his allies and the two enemies closest to the connecting passage shrouded in darkness.

A barrage of heavy automatic fire can be heard at the opposite end of the station. It stops and the doors slide open.

On a grainy video feed, Felyx can see the cultist in the room with the combat servitor hit the wall behind him and slump to the floor, his robes and body shredded by the automatic fire.

--------

Marius swiftly moves under cover of darkness toward the closet nearest the open doors.

PostSubject: Re: Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2   Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2 - Page 4 EmptyMon Jan 14, 2019 1:19 pm

ROUND 3

Initiative Order

13: Egill
13: Lars
10: Slaves/Hereteks
9: Damiel
8: Alistair
7: Donna
5: Felyx
4: Servitors
3: Marius

Egill hunkers down behind his meat-shield as the bullets connect to it and the surrounding bulkhead. There were to many heretics for now to use his sword. He was eager but not stupid.

Egill gathers his Righteous and god sanctioned warp powers, he suddenly gestures to the nearest foe. Multiple electric blue forks of lighting stab at the nearest enemy.

The cultist leaning out of the hallway ducks to avoid two of the bolts, but one clips his arm, burning through his robes and leathers. He lets out a yelp of pain and shakes his arm wildly.

----------

The cultist engaged with Donna and the servitor whips out a long knife with a nasty serrated edge. Attempting to regain his footing after the dodge, he plunges the knife forward but awkwardly stumbles and misses entirely.

The other cultists let out another volley of lasgun fire, but do little more than put burn marks in the bulkheads and nearby walls. The bright las bolts light up the darkness as they zip past.

----------

Damiel's fires some semi-auto las shots into the darkness and at the few illuminated cultists down the hallway, but his haphazard aim misses any targets.

However, the cultists are clearly not trained (or experienced) in combat and cower in fear behind their cover as the las bolts fly overhead.

[All 5 cultists in the southern area are now pinned]

----------

Pinned in cover behind the bulkhead, Alistair pulls out his lasgun and snaps off a few semi-auto shots at one of the illuminated enemies down the hall. The grenade would have to wait until he had an opening to step further out of cover.

Unfortunately, his aim falters and the shots fizzle harmlessly against the walls near his target.

[Alistair is no longer pinned]

---------

She launches into a tirade of savage attacks. Using Felyx's servitor as bait, she simply hacks away at the pitiful defender. Blow after blow rains down.

The man leans backward just in time, the chainsword ripping through the center of his robes to reveal hardened leather armor - but just barely missing the cultist himself. His eyes widen as he sees Donna's pure ferocity and begins to sweat.

---------

The repair servitor in the garage moves in to punch the cultist, its servomotors whirring and whining. Unfortunately, the bulky unit is unable to move quickly and misses it's target, leaving a massive dent in the wall behind him.

The servitors in the central passageway move in front of Egill and Alistair to further protect them from the storm of las bolts. Meanwhile, the combat servitor advances steadily and unleashes another burst of deadly but poorly aimed stubber fire, missing entirely.

---------

Marius chambers a shell and lines up a shot on the cultist across the hallway. Though not the world's best shot, he had plenty of experience, and even the most drug-addled hivers could usually hit something at close quarters with a shotgun. Better yet, the target was distracted dodging psychic lightning bolts from Egill. The shotgun bucked against his shoulder, sending a slew of pellets into the man's legs. Marius watched with grim satisfaction as the petty cultist crumpled to the ground, clearly dead.

---------

It starts with a faint noise from the southwest section of the station, barely audible between bursts of gunfire and the din of battle. It sounds like metal being twisted and wrenched against its will. The grating noise eventually rises to an unbearably loud volume, varying in pitch between low groans and high-pitched whines until it resolves itself with cacophonous crash. Felyx watches as several cameras from the bedrooms go to static.

Lars clutches a light fixture above his cot for dear life as the whirlwind rages around his bedroom. He watches in disbelief as the winds settle down to a gale that, while plenty forceful, seems grounded in reality...unlike the hungry, violent wind that ripped off the back wall and ceiling of the slave's sleeping quarters, along with what appeared to be every other quartering room. The roof and wall dizzily drift and spin through the area toward a flickering of prismatic light in the murky gale above...along with a few of the other slaves, who hadn't grabbed a hold of anything as quickly as Lars.

He swore he could have almost heard the whispers of lost souls as the wind started tugging on the plasteel walls. Furthermore, he might have even hard their laughter as they carried off the other slaves. As the wall and the screaming slaves disappear into the cloudy, snowy night sky, the howling wind starts to pick up again, and Lars can hear glimpses of whispers and murmurs as it whistles through the room...

The damage to the structure appears to have left the door slightly askew from it's frame - perhaps the ravenous, unearthly gale has left the lock in a weaker condition. It might be best to seek shelter before the wind grows hungry again...

Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2 - Page 4 Empty
PostSubject: Round 4   Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2 - Page 4 EmptyTue Jan 22, 2019 6:12 pm

ROUND 4

Initiative Order

13: Egill
13: Lars
10: Slaves/Hereteks
9: Damiel
8: Alistair
7: Donna
5: Felyx
4: Servitors
3: Marius

Egill saw his chance as Marius' peppering las-shots make the heretics cower back. "Die heretics, in the name of the Emperor!" Egill shout as he drops his meat shield and charges at the nearest heretic. He was emboldened by Alistair as his fellow acolyte readied a grenade.

Egill comes in hard swinging his claymore diagonally up from right to left trying to catch his foe in the side.

The heretic dips back into the closet, letting the claymore slice past him and clang against the wall.

----------

Lars wasn't sleeping when the racket of gunfire came from the north of the station. Sleep was a burden for him, even more so since he came to the research station.

He knew what was happening. It was a rescue mission. The Inquisition doesn't leave its members to suffer the machinations of traitors and heretics.

Positioning himself close to the door, Lars is taken totally by suprise as the backwall of the room is violentily ripped appart. Reflexively he grabs the first thing that comes under his hand. He is almost taken by the whirlwind, but just as he feels his fingers slipping, the force abates.

The chilling cold that enters the slave quarters is unpleasant, yet pales in comparison to the prismatic light and otherworldly whispers that accompany it.

Even a glance at the prismatic blur in the sky hurt his eyes, and without thinking, Lars throws his malnourished body wildy at the door, shoulder first, not wanting to end up like other poor souls that shared his misery in the past weeks. The door busts open, giving Lars a view of the corridor outside. He can hear gunfire and shouting on the other side of the facility.

----------

The cultists and hereteks are readily disturbed by the rattling and shaking of the facility from the gale outside, glancing anxiously upwards at the ceiling.

The cultist in the garage sneers at Donna, plunging his knife forward toward her leg.

Egill's battle-cry and charge draws their attention. They quickly let loose another volley of semi-auto lasgun fire into the darkness, hoping to down the combatant while he is out of cover. Landing a hit is tricky with the darkness and Egill diving back and forth in the darkness, so the volley misses yet again. The cultist in the closet drops his lasgun and draws a knife, stabbing it forward toward Egill in a frantic bid to save his life.

[Only cultist pinned is the one in combat with Egill.]

----------

Damiel rushes up behind the servitor in front of him, drops to one knee, and lets a shot loose at the enemy ahead of him. The shot misses amid the chaos of battle. He shouts back to the tech-priest in the other room, "Felyx! Can you keep the cover moving?"

---------

Alistair leans out from behind the servitor, and lobs a Grenade down the hall, landing with a clang on to the intersection floor.

"Care frag!" Alistair calls to Egil.

The two cultists howl in pain as shrapnel tears through their armor.

-------------

She had overexerted herself and suffered a hit in return. It did little more than deflect of the flak, but she would proceed a bit more cautiously.
"Wassa matta luv? Ain got no umpf in those thrusts." she goads.

Attacking again with a riposte, she finds the single lone enemy's defenses were as ironclad as hers.
She was beginning to get mad.....

-------------

Felyx coordinates everything in only a few seconds, the machine spirit greatly enhancing his abilities. "Major disturbances are being in the South West - caution is being advised" he says via the vox units nearest the team.

In the garage, the repair servitor shoots a devastatingly hard fist toward the slave. The cultist, preoccupied with Donna's attacks, fails to dodge the incoming blow. The fist pulverises his ribcage, flattening and smashing his torso to bloody gibblets as the man falls to the ground, dying instantly.

At the far end of the room, the combat servitor rushes one of the pinned slaves. The chainaxe on its left arm roared into action, swinging heavily at the enemy. The axe slices like a hot knife through butter from torso to hip diagonally, slicing the man clean in half. The servitor looks on with a blank, dead-eyed stare, as if he is changing the oil on a snow crawler.

-----------

Marius grinned as he felled the first cultist with a spray of buckshot. It seemed that Felyx's ministrations had done wonders for the spread; the old "Mauler" had basically been a melee weapon prior to its tune up, and he couldn't recall the pump-action ever being so smooth. If he'd known, he might have taken less time to aim the bloody thing.

Egil's charge had left Marius with suboptimal lines of fire. He shot a quick prayer to the Emporer and put his faith in his refurbished carapace for a second time as he broke from the cover of his doorway to cross the hall to a new vantage. Taking a brief breath as he slammed his back against the wall of his newfound cover, he swung out and blasted another shell into the nearest cultist taking shelter in a doorway, hoping to catch him lining up another shot. Marius' aim failed him this time.

--------

Another rumble from the howling gale around the station rattles the walls and ceiling, shaking off dust and making lights flicker. One of the cultists frantically shouts at his allies:

"Just hold them back now - master only needs a little more time..."

ROUND 5

Initiative Order

13: Egill
13: Lars
10: Slaves/Hereteks
9: Damiel
8: Alistair
7: Donna
5: Felyx
4: Servitors
3: Marius

The heretic was cunning in avoiding his last attack. Egill could also be cunning but he kept his warp powers at bay and trusted in his sword arm. He used the momentum of his sword caused by the dodge to keep the swing going, looping the blade over the back of his left shoulder and bringing it diagonally down at his foes right hand side. Once again, the man dips backwards into the closet, evading the blow.

---------

As the doors burst open, Lars jumps out of the room. Throwing caution into the air, he runs down the corridor, hoping his footsteps won't be heard over the din of battle, moving as far as possible form the lights. When he gets to the intersection, he peeks out to look into the "east" corridor. It appears he has gone unnoticed - no one looks in Lars' direction, anyway....

---------

One of the other cultists calls out in response to the other.

"Hold them back? We're fething lunch meat! I'm outta here!" He immediately sprints down a hallway, while his friends follow suit. As the only way out of the closet is through Egill, the panicked cultist inside stabs his knife out again. Unfortunately, his fear seems to have got the best of him as he never makes contact with the blade.

all out attack:

------------

As the enemy slaves flee into the depths of the station, Alistair starts to move after them.

"Enemies disengaging. If we can't catch them, we'll need to watch our backs."

-----------

She was pissed as she eyed the servitor who took all her gory glory.

"If yew wasn't the cogumn's sex toy I'd gut yew like a fish I would."

Without any hesitation, she barrels off toward where the main combat was going on.

Egill slaughters the last cultist with one last blow. He slumps backwards into the closet, blood oozing on the floor. The sounds of running footsteps fade into the distance as the cultists run into the basement and down some passageway...

The warp winds seem to have abated...for now. At the moment, the winds are merely howling and rattling the exterior walls slightly, but nothing out of the ordinary for a fierce snow storm.

"Felyx, are we clear?" Egill calls out "Negative, one more at the end of the east corridor." Is the tech priests reply.

Egill turns and looks up the corridor, did he see someone peeking around and then suddenly pulling back? He wasn't sure. He starts to stalk up the corridor claymore in hand. "Yer, best come out of hidin' and I'll grant yer a quick death." he yells.

Lars didn't have to chance to react to the two man that ran past him, quicky vanishing into darkness. He glanced one last time behind the corner, and saw was giant of a man with a fearsome sword in his hand and strange light in his eyes carefully walking down the corridor and yelling.
Summoning what little courage he had left, and knowing full well he stands no chance with no weapon, but still favoring death over slavery, Lars jumps into the poorly lit corridor, accusingly pointing his index finger at the man:
"Halt! In the name of the Emperor!"

Egill does indeed stop. Partly because the man said so but mostly due to the words he used and that he didn't look like one of the heretic mechanicus. He lowers the point of his sword in a slightly non threatening manner although it could obviously easily be brought to bare.

"Yer better not be usin' his name in vain, it don't take much to be persuaded to part a man with his head at any slight to our god emperor. Heretics come in all guises so while yer don't look like one of the mechanicus traitors yer better explain yerself quick."

Donna was ticked off. She had struggled with a measly juvie while the others killed all the established gangers. Not only hat, but the dam cogman's sex toy was the one that killed him.

As such, she stayed near the front of the line, hoping she could use the position to kill something faster.

She knew the slaught would wear off soon, after that she would feel like shit as the shakes kicked in.

"Keep yu'selves back." she warns, "Oui ain' in a righ mood an don wanna kill a tail while im killing those nutty gangers."

I took considerable courage for Lars to stand his ground in front of a giant and his bloodied sword. A glimmer on hope appeared in Lars mind, as the man was obviously a servant of the Emperor. With some difficulty understanding his accent, he said:
"I am no Mechanicus thrall and I am certainly no traitor. Nor would I speak the name of the Emperor in vain. I thought you where one of my captors. But now I see that you must be a rescue party. I am the agent you are looking for, but I don't know where the other from the party are. I suspect they are dead. Or worse."

Lars puts his guard down. Adrenaline is still rushing throught his bloodstream, but the effect of the last week took toll on him, and he knows that weariness will descend on him like a constant and unwanted companion soon enough.

Egill glances back at Donna who was easily as big as himself if not more heavily muscled "Look's like we got a friendly. Ere', we lookin' fer another agent, I don't recall that?" he asked the colourful ganger.

He then turns his gaze back to the new guy "Well 'friend', yer better step forward. We purged this ground level but theres still more of the scum below."

Egill was happy for now to take the man at face value he'd keep a close eye on him, eager as he was to prove his prowess with his sword again.

PostSubject: Re: Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2   Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2 - Page 4 EmptyTue Feb 26, 2019 7:09 am

Marius, adrenaline pumping, had begun to move in pursuit at Alistair's suggestion, but paused as he heard the cultist's frantic shouting.

Soon

He shook his head, as if clearing sweat from his eyes. One of the many lessons from his Time of Cleansing with the Ecclesiarchy returned to him:Know your destination before you set out.

"I wish to smite these heretics as much as the rest of you. But, if recent events are any evidence, our time is running short. Foul though they may be, they are merely symptoms of a greater illness that infects this station. We should seek the source and terminate it as quickly as possible. I fear the longer we spend fighting these dredges the more likely it is that this entire station will be completely consumed by the warp-spawned madness we've been experiencing. We should see if Felyx has any idea as to source of the contamination."

He flashed a wry smile."It's true that the survivors could be a threat once they regroup. I'm not the fleetest of foot; I'll take up the rearguard and ensure that they don't get the jump on us."

He adjusted his askew photo-spectacles and peered at the newcomer over the rims.

"An interesting development. The briefing I received from our Lord Inquisitor explicitly noted the lack of inquisitorial presence in this system." His grip on the shotgun tightened slightly. "Nor do we have time for long-winded explanations."

His brow furrowed. This was a delicate situation. If the man were telling the truth, it would be unwise for them to simply execute him; the fact that general intelligence of the system had revealed no Inquisitional presence did not mean none existed. The wrath of an inquisitor was something best avoided at all costs. On the other hand, the man could well be a cunning traitor who, having astutely guessed that their team was part of the Inquisition, was attempting to gain their trust before stabbing them in the back. There wasn't time to interrogate the man, so they'd need to compromise.

"I say we bring him; every extra weapon will be sorely needed when we confront the source of the blasphemy on this station. But he should take point with someone so we can keep an eye on him." Marius' shrugged. "Better safe than sorry, I say."

Before you leave the base, you hit the armory to see if there's not any weapons left behind. You're in luck. It's locked up pretty securely, but with a servitor with a repair tool, you're able to cut through.

Inside is a grenade launcher with 6 frag grenades and 3 krak grenades, 2 tube charges, and a lasgun rigged up in an unusual fashion to shoot in an overcharged fashion, and a chainaxe.

---------

The party hustles over to one of the snow crawlers, fires it up, and drives over to the dig site. The headlights stab through the darkness and snowfall. To the northwest, a bright red spot throbs in the sky...

The crawler pulls up near the entrance to the dig site. There's a cone shape of excavated snow leading to a closed bulkhead door. Fresh tracks are in the snow before you....it looks like the cultists sprinted here before you.

Egill opens the snow crawler cab door and sticks his head out "Its a bit blowy" he yells into the wind. He jumps down, his feet crunching into snow and looks back at his companions with a 'well then' look before he heads to the complex blast doors.

[In the Station Shrine Room]

Felyx eased his spirit in conjunction with the machine's. Its righteous hatred had abated somewhat as the cultists fell like wheat before their scythe.

My scythe.

The tech priest had been granted incredible power in his merger with the machine spirit; he was not looking forward to relinquishing it, but he knew it had to be done.

+++The hereteks' destruction is at hand, ancient one. I must end our union and take your vengeance to them at the dig site. Your fury will live on through me.+++

With an instantaneous flicker of his mind, he sent the remaining servitors to hunt down the slaves who had fled. He disconnected before he convinced himself to stay forever within the machine.

The world materialized before him. The room. Servitor waiting as loyally as ever. Footsteps. Voices. He was back now. He stepped onto Servitor and rolled into the main hallway. None of the slaves here were worth cutting into. But the hereteks at the Dig Site...

He smiled maniacally as he thought about removing their brain stems. It would be sweet justice. He gathered himself and moved onto the Snow Crawler.

+++

[At the Dig Site]

He gets out, relying on Servitor's tracks to move him around in the heavy powder. For the first time he seems to notice the new comer. He drives close to him, his face a mere inches away.

"Who are you being?"

He had the dead heretek's pistol close at hand, though he didn't point it at, nor threaten the new member.

Donna was one of the first ones out onto the crunch of refrozen snow. She had to kill something, and soon.....

"Wot we waitin fo?"
Her usual cocksure attitude was gone, replaced by a seething undertone and anger and agitation.
She revved the chainsword in barely restrained anticipation.

Marius had double and triple checked his cold-weather gear before setting out to the snow crawlers; his hands still ached from the hastily treated frostbite he'd suffered on their last expedition. Fortunately, this one would expose them to the elements far less.

As he clamored out of the snow crawler, he kept a close eye on Donna. Her movement was someone jerky and he saw the sweat freezing on her brow: clear signs that the Slaught she'd imbibed had run its course. Now was a poor time for her to be coming down from her drug-induced bloodlust - they would most certainly need all the violence she could muster at the dig site. He sincerely hoped (though doubted) that she had had the foresight to bring more doses.

He grinned at Felyx's inquiry, realizing they'd done a poor job of filling the tech-priest in.

"Don't worry, Felyx, he's a friend. At least for now. Don't worry, we're keeping an eye on him. Anyway, did your union with the blessed machine get you any information? Or were you too focused on smiting heretics? Any information would be helpful; I don't like that we're just charging into the unknown."

Felyx didn't take his eyes off of the newcomer, but his pistol hand twitched twice when Marius addressed him.

Finally, a big wide grin split across his features, looking entirely alien as his eyes didn't back up the gesture of friendship.

He moved off on Servitor, nodding at Marius as he did. "Machine being extremely angering - helped to kill good at least. Goal in there." He pointed to the entrance of the dig site.

"Expecting them to defending to death; I would. STC inside."

His heart rate rose as he said the words out loud. He wanted it. He wanted it so badly. Just to see it would not be enough if he could touch it would not be enough if he could reclaim it for Mankind.

For yourself.

He cast aside the thought. It would be his find - he would delve into the machine. The Imperium and the Mechanicus could take it after, of course.

Felyx feels for the two tube charges he had reclaimed from the army and looks to their Guardsman leader.

Your lead. Now what? his face conveys.

Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2 - Page 4 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2   Blood Moon IC - Chapter 2 - Page 4 EmptyWed Mar 13, 2019 2:44 pm

In the base

Lars took point, as instructed by a large man with a sword in his hands. He knew one wrong move would seal his fate. So he took point, acting as a living shield for the colorful party that followed in his wake.

And it was a colorful party.

First there was a muscled man with the bloody sword. He seemed easygoing and unusually friendly for an inquisitorial agent, but there was something off about him that made Lars feel uneasy. He had no doubt that giant would cut him to pieces in a melee.

If something about the swordsmen made Lars uneasy, then a dense, small man behind him made him outright naseus. Lars can barley keep his eyes on the man smiling face for more then a moment, and there is no doubt in Lars mind that he is some sort of psyker mutant variation. He dreads the moment he will have to get closer to the man, for there is an aura of palpable wrongness about the man.

Next was the other man that spoke with Lars, obviously a second leader of the party (alongside a giant with sword). In spite his look that Lars would readily describe as the "mad doctor", Lars feels a connection with a man. After all, he is wearing a arbitres armour. But Lars doesn't say anything, because he is not sure if the man served with arbitres, was in favour with them, or, as Lars suspected, took the mismatched from somebodies dead, cold corpse. He wants too confront he man, but a suspected heretic is in no position to ask questions, especially accusing question, and especially what the one being questioned is carrying a shotgun. Lars doesn't even answer the man inquiry about a reported lack of inquisitiorial presence in the system. After all, he is still now sure that these people are really what they say they are.

The only woman in the party is a familiary sight for Lars, as he knows hive scum when he sees one. Lars knows that even with heavy furs she is wearing she shouldn't be sweating so much, and dark rims around her eyes are a telltale sign of drug abuse. He is tempted to ask her for a dose, but unsure what her poison is, keeps his lips tightly closed.

A slouching man who hides his face behind respiratior and photo-visors is a solider, or at least practicised killer, that much is evident from the casual way he carries guardsmen signature weapon - the humble lasgun. He is silent and watches Lars for any sign of treachery, as he takes the rear, an equalily dangeours position as the front.

Last but not least is the man riding a servitor. He arrives after the others, his arrival preceded by a maniacal laugh. The sight of man riding a man is unnerving, to Lars at least. Strange tatoos cover every inch of exposed skin the man has, and there is a wicked tool in his hand and its very look makes Lars neck itch uncomfortably. He doesn't  seem to notice Lars, his mind obviusly preocupied with something else.

Whatever is their reason for being here, its not to rescue Lars, that much is clear. Who are they, and who sent them? Lars is too weak, tired and hungry to try and ponder about those questions, and he goes with them mindlessly, postponing the questions for the time being.

In the snowcrawler

As they drive through the snowstorm, Lars tries to avoid eye contact with other passengers, keeping his presence as inconspicuous as possible. Moan of the wind is cleary heard even above the growl of the snowcrawler engine, and the cold is uncomfortable, despite the heat produced by their transport. Even before they reach the dig site, Lars can barely feel his fingers, the rags he is wearing a poor insulation against the cold.
Now and then, Lars peeks out of the small dirty pacth of glass that functiones as the window for the crawler, into the endless whitness and dark pierced only by headlight of the vehicle. The weak illumination seems to enchance the darkness around them, instead of clearing it, making it seem even blacker then it is.

The transport comes to abrupt halt, and before he can react, the gangster women is already out the door, followed by the swordsman. Bitter cold enters the crawler, and for a second, Lars is reluctant to leave the dubious warmth of vehicle. And then he is out of the door, legs dropping deep into  the snow. He takes point, almost urging the others to make haste, hoping they will find some shelter to hunt heretics in, for the wind blows and snow falls with such intensity that in a few minutes his shoulders and head are covered thickly with it.

Lars hears a faint mechanical sound behind him, and turns around, only to find a grinning face mere inches from his, his hazel eyes looking inquisitive. Lars backs up, startled.

"Who are you being?"

It takes a moment for Lars to understand what the man is asking him. Gathering his wits, he answers:

"Lars Duport, formerly of arbitres and now in inquisitorial service. And a prisoner to the heretics that infest this installation. I thank you for coming to my aid, but this is no time for chitchat."

The man features are again split with unnaturaly looking grin, smile never reaching his eyes, as if its a thing learned and not innately know to him.
In a second, his attention is on the dig site, the passing attention he showed in Lars gone as if blown by the freezing wind that chills former arbitres to the bones.

He start speaking about machines, a topic largely unknown to Lars, but Lars is not suprised that in his head he is agreeing with the strange man: heretics will certanly defend this place to death.

The dig site is essentially a large cone shape dug into snow and earth. There's about 50 feet stretching from where the snowcrawler is sloping downward to a bulkhead door against the earth (the tip of the cone).

The bulkhead door was clearly not manufactured by anyone from this millenium - it's design is archaic and dated, much like the vessel you explored previously.

It takes some manpower to pull the door open, but it's do-able. You are instantly greeted by a damp, musty smell. The first room inside is something of an entry way, it's a bare room with little of note aside from lots of footprints in the dust on the floor, as well as snow that someone has clearly tracked inside.

There are two doors branching off, one to a side room that appears to have been used to store cold weather gear, ice climbing gear, and even rudimentary snow removal tools.

The other door leads to a hallway or passageway of some sort, but in the darkness and gloom it is hard to see. Flashlights or night vision goggles will be required to see further.

Egill's head is starting to hurt quite a bit...

He glances into the dark gloom of the corridor and then grabs his glow globe attached to his belt "ere' new guy... err Lars. You take this and light the way. I need both hands for my blade."

Passing the globe over Egill stands with Lars and looks back at the others "Well, yer ready?"

Faced with the dark and the foul smell of the interior, Lars briefly wanders if maybe his need to get inside is not really that smart. Surely the cold embrace of the storm is preferable to whatever lurks in the dark? His grim thoughts are cut short by the swordsman, who seems to be in considrable pain, although Lars sees no visable heavy injuries on the man.
Risking poisonous glance at the man who passed him the glow globe, Lars steps a few meters into the darkness, hoping that the musky smell is the only thing he will find there...

After seeing the room had nothing of real value, Felyx took up his spot near the middle of the group. Again, due to his Man-catcher, he needed to be able to respond to threats at the front and back. It's two meter reach necessitated a central position.

He got his Man-catcher ready in his right hand, holding his stab-light in his left.

Egill noting Lars had moved ahead moves to stand next to him. The barbarian was no coward and wasn't about to let Lars, the man lighting the way, be undefended. He was undecided about the man, but best to be next to him so he could cut him down quickly if he turned.

Dust hangs in the air all around you. Your footsteps echo softly throughout the crypt-like colony.

Shining your lights into the passageway before you, you spot a desiccated corpse slumped against the far wall.

Upon closer inspection, you can see the majority of the recent foot traffic has headed off to the left, towards what looks like another doorway into a room. However, it is also clear that some traffic has also headed down the opposite direction, though it's impossible to tell when any of these footsteps were made - only that it was within the past few months, not millennia ago.

Lars thinks he hears something. Signaling other to be quiet, he listens closey. Yes, there is something there.

Whispering, arbitres says: Something making noise over there, and  from these footprints it seems they dragged something, or somebody inside.".  Lars says and points to the hallway, "Sounds almost machine like, its repeting."

Lars points the light away from the hallway, not wanting to alarm anybody down in to their presence. He knows it has weak chance to have any effect, but still does it, waiting for the other to make decision on who to proceed.

Egill was sure he was going to regret reaching out but it was his duty to do so. Only he had the power to guide his fellow acolytes in matters of the warp. As his sight shifted he was immediately hit by a blinding pain which caused him to stagger. He could sense the festering hole in the fabric of reality, it was so close now.

He pauses for a moment holding himself up with a hand against the wall, he panted heavily while he adjusted. The pain doesn’t fade but with familiarity it becomes bearable.

Egill flinches as he sees an apparition, a ghost, he didn’t know what, but there were many of them.  They ran amok all around himself and the rest of the party. After a moment realisation hits him, they were echo’s of a time in the past.

The chaos of the situation intensifies. The ghosts brandish weapons - some using ordinary items as makeshift weapons, like shovels, power drills, fire axes, broken bottles, and everything in between - and fighting each other to the bitter end. In a far corner of the room, someone crouched over a body on the floor, slowly pulling their entrails out of their stomach. They are still alive, they scream and writhe as their guts are pulled out. Everywhere is madness and depravity. Egill had never seen the like.

The vision fades and he see’s his companions once again. Donna was stood over the man who had had his guts pulled out.

Egill slumps to his knees, head down, his body is shaking.

Marius had already begun moving towards Egill as the big man braced himself against the wall; the psyker's tells for sickness had become increasing exaggerated as their mission had progressed. For the first time, Marius' felt uneasy about Egill. The big guy was likable enough, of course, but he was a psyker in an environment where the warp was bleeding through to reality. He could be a liability if his focus and resolve slipped in even the slightest fashion.

"Keep it together, Egill," Marius whispered, as it helped the psyker steady himself, "I know whatever we're experiencing must be infinitely worse for you, but you need to fight it. Keep in mind one of the many wisdoms of the Emporer's Tarot: suffering is an unrelenting instructor. Let it teach you."

Marius peered over his spectacles at the dessicated corpse that Donna was inspecting. While he wasn't much of a detective, even an ogryn could have made the connection. And sometimes the best thing one could do for frayed nerves was to simply let the patient speak. He placed a hand on Egill's shoulder, "What happened here?"

The big man takes a moment to settle, the human contact helped. After a moment his shaking subsides a little.

“Death…” is all Egill initially says. There is a pause before he continues.

“The people here… the workers. They tore each other apart.” Egill looks up at Marius with a haunted look “I do not doubt if we remained here long enough we’d do the same.”

Egill places a hand on Marius’ shoulder to steady himself as he pulls himself up onto his feet “I will say no more, but we must succeed and be quick about it.”

Turning to see what other where talking about, Lars observes the swordsman on his knees and doctor moving in to help him. Arbitres reaction was diametrically opposed, and he backs up a few steps. Is it possible there where two psykers in this party? Lars directs the light from the corridor to swordsman, looking for some sign of warp corruption. Not that he could name any...

"We all to moving down corridor - then we all being heard fast. Stealth. Silence. Donna, can you to be moving quietly? Eh? We can be holding here - await your reporting back."

Felyx didn't even seem to register Egil's ailment until he mentioned the crew of the Euphrates - ancient humans with holy technology driven to madness and murder. He still himself. His stomach tingled; he knew the same fate could befall him.

He looked at Donna. If Alistair was going to forfeit his right to lead, then someone had to. "Go silent. Don't to being seen or heard. Come to back to us."

She shrugged as she looked at the handiwork of murder.
Silence wasn't how they did things in the underhive, you needed the masses and the arbites to know who was the big boss.

"Oui can try." she replies to the cogmun.

She turns away from the corpsesickle and begins stalking her way down the corridor. At least in this position she would be in the thick of it first. Good thing too as the slaught would wear off soon.

She crouches low and moves on, towards the sound.....

Egill looks around, it was time to get this done. He looks to each of his companions for a moment before doing a double take on Lar's. The fool was weaponless. This wouldn't do.

Grabbing the sack full of weapons Egill looks inside....

"Marius take this" he hands over the grenade launcher.

"Donna" he passes over the chain axe.

He peers into the sack once more. "ere' Lar's take this funny lookin' lasgun."
