So, I am really wanting to playtest my new - unified - rules for Tau PCs and their auxiliaries. I have started a new game in a settlement on the edge of the third sphere expansion. Right now there are only two, potentially three players. If anyone else would like to get in on this game before it takes off in earnest, now is the time!

What kind of game are we talking about here? All action and fire fights? Peace keepers? Explorers? Trouble solvers? Diplomats and escort?

Yes to potentially all.

You would be a unique individual (think adventurer) in a settlement on a tau-held world wayyyy out on the frontier of their empire. There is a lot of wiggle room for any play style. Having said that, I don't plan on it being combat-after-combat.

EDIT: To add to that, because the PCs are on a frontier world, there is no end to the backstories that got them there. Fresh out of the academy air caste pilot doing a tour running supplies between the settlements, water caste emissary who fell out of favor with the expansion forces and was "exiled" to this backwater posting, Vespid stingwing hired as security, former Imperial trying to start a new life, etc. etc.

Because of that, I would like to run this game more in the classic DnD style of adventure, constant testing of skills in and out of combat, etc.

I'd like to join but I know that I've overcommitted before to PbP and I really don't want to do so again. So I think that I must pass. The game sounds really cool though.

I could be interested. Did you use the rogue trader rules as a basis? I've seen some pretty nice homebrews of those for the various Tau castes.

I'd be interested in playing a cantankerous retired fire warrior who took a few too many ork fists to the face. He'd have been sent there because no-one wanted to bother with a paranoid old coot who thought every overturned trash can was hiding an ork kommando.

If you're referring to the homebrew rules that have been posted on the FFG forums, you're probably talking about my rules (Pearldrum1) lol. But with the help of a lot of good feedback, I have been putting in work on fully inclusive tau rules that stemmed initially from the RT ruleset and have been modified for the aptitude/newer systems.

You can check them out here.

I like the idea of a grizzled old fire warrior living out his "retirement" on the frontier. We could definitely make that work.

I am going to leave this open for those who may be interested in the future; the world/solar system/sector (possibly) itself will be very sandbox, much like Solodice's Black Crusade game. So there are plenty opportunities for characters to shine on their own.

A sandbox tau game? That sounds interesting. Since tau are all about the buddy-buddy system, how would that work?

Game takes place on a frontier world at the edge of expansion. Translation: there's a ton of potential shit to do to make your settlement (one of six) the best it can be for the greater benefit of the planet, and by relation the greater good.

Right now I have four players all interacting together within the same settlement. There is really limitless possibilities for other characters to come in and do whatever they want at other settlements.

But people should know that this game is going to be very player driven. I'm talking coming up with a detailed background, creating your own goals and working on your own to accomplish them.
