Burn scars cover the leg, torso and under arm on the left hand side of Gorthrax, it is extensive and has tightened the flesh slightly restricting movement. To Tau he is a seven foot tall killing machine, but to the observant there is certainly a slight 'frailness' to Gorthrax when compared to other Kroot.


Personality


Background

The Kroot shaper sat with the young of the tribe at the heart of their camp, dusk had passed and the surrounding rain forest was alive with the sounds of the night. Insects skittered and buzzed, reptiles croaked and hissed and all manner of other wildlife whistled, chirped and in some cases screamed. The kroot sat at ease amongst it all, the Sun Wolves tribe were the apex predators here. The shaper began his fire song, a telling of the Sun Wolves ancestors hunting humans who worshipped the two headed eagle and how their warriors had feasted on Astartes meat. This was the legacy of the Sun Wolves, to hunt the strongest of foes. Gorthrax sat wide eyed at the telling, the old kroots song a mix of clicks, hisses and whistles blended into the cacophony of the forest.

Pain, thumped against the back of Gor’s eyes. Hunger gnawed at his belly and his tongue was desert dry. The song of the forest faded and reality asserted itself. Opening his eyes he stares groggily around his animal hide hut, constructed by his own hand - it was in a poor state of repair, but that did not concern him. He focuses on the floor to the side of his sleeping mat at the unfolded leaf, he had binged and now only a few dried fungi remained, he was beginning to build up a resistance to the to it. Rising Gorthrax wobbles, his bones ached and he felt woolly, stumbling over to a water skin, he scattered the detritus of the floor about his hovel. His thirst slaked he falls back to his bedroll and stares and the ceiling willing sleep that for now wouldn’t come. Instead he watched small insects march across his hide roof in regimented lines, until they spiralled and popped out of existence in a small wink of light. He was still hallucinating. Sleep eventually claimed him…

Gorthrax stood with his kindred hidden amongst the trees, they fought with the Tau against an Imperial army who were rumoured to have the aid of the Warriors of the Salamander. He was a veteran of many wars and had eaten alien warriors and great beast alike. He was a Sun Wolf warrior; strong and as fierce as any of his kin, he had become what the shaper had sung about.
The Sun Wolves fought with great cunning, striking with a savagery that struck fear into the lesser warriors of the two headed eagle. He and his kin ate well honouring the fallen, ensuring their spirits lived on. The battle was all but won, they had pushed hard into the Imperial settlement and all that lay before them was a small fortress. It was now that the Salamanders revealed themselves dug into the defences the fortification offered, the real fight was about to begin.

The two forces picked at each other, casualties were taken on each side but the Salamanders were in their element dug in as they were and the tau forces were not suited to such assaults. There was but one way this battle would be won, the Kroot had to try penetrate the line for the Tau. The Sun Wolves like all kroot were honourable and fearless warriors and they had also been paid handsomely, they would except their orders knowing that many of them would fall. Gorthrax was at the front of the charge with his kin, withering covering fire from the Tau whistled over their heads pounding the enemy position. There was some return fire but the Salamander knew to keep their  heads down under the onslaught, or they waited for something. Unfortunately for the Kroot it was the latter. At about 40 strides out the Salamanders showed themselves and brought their favoured weapon to bear, sticky fire erupted around the charging kroot. The pain was like nothing Gorthrax had ever felt before, the heat of the sun consumed him. He never reached the fortifications.

Gorthrax woke with a start, he was drenched in sweat his hand on the left side of his scarred face that had been touched by the fire of the Salamanders, as he was scarred all down his leftside. Light filtered through holes in the hide hut, he should probably get up although he could tell his body would protest. Gorthrax sat up in a crossed legged position on his sleeping mat and remained still for some time while he summoned the will to face the day. His mind drifted…

His drug induced sleep often produced dreams of his past, always starting with the good and finishing with the bad. Since a Tau medic had found him alive amongst the bodies of his kin he had been on a steady downward spiral. His body shattered and his kin dead, depression soon found him. The drug addiction had started with pain meds taken during his convalescence - they numbed the pain, but more importantly they numbed the mind. When he was finally announced fit he drifted, some days were better than others and perhaps if he’d fallen in with another kroot band things might have turned out better. As it happened he fell in with a human gang who worked out of a space station, he wanted narcotics, they took advantage using Gor’s addiction against him. Gorthrax committed some terrible acts in those days, the rival human gang members were no match for an enraged Kroot. They had been feeding him combat drugs. This ultimately led to gangs downfall and also to an extent Gor's partial salvation. The gang got to close to Gorthrax while he was still high as a bird on frenzon and found the tables turned, the Kroot tore them limb from limb. The cycle had been broken and while Gor suffered for a while there was no more access to the harsh combat drugs of the Imperium which could only be a good thing. He also found his reputation on the station for violence preceded him and no gang or pusher would have any dealing with him. It was time to leave and bereft of any drugs in his system he found he longed for grass under his feet once more so he fell in with a small band of Kroot. They were bound for Neg'em, hired as guards as protection to a Tau colony.

Goals
- Short term - Prove himself still worthy. At present that involves hunting appropriate targets

- Long term - get clean, although at present he has no real desire too despite him realising that Angpak is aware. For now Gorthrax will just be trying to compensate. It will take some kind of traumatic event to begin on this path and likely help from others. At present he does not have the willpower to do it himself.

I haven't given this a thorough look over, but keep in mind that your kindred grants a +5 to Wrangling specifically - not all tests associated with survival. It's not game-breaking or anything, but the distinction is important.
